[A/N:I saw the comments on adding Mia, not sure about it as she is Brian's girl after all. Please leave your thoughts here]
Dom and Kage raced from time to time for fun, Kage pulled his Ford GT into the driveway of Dom's house while noticing four cars were there. Kage got out walked up towards their home and knocked, Mia opened the door seeing it was Kage Mia gestured towards the garage, and said"Dom and others are in the backyard?."
Kage nodded and made his way to the garage seeing Jesse, Letty, and Dom in the backyard they were checking some new parts, he said"Hey." getting everyone's attention.
Letty and Jesse just waved at him while still checking the parts Dom greeted "Hey man."as opened the cooler next by showing several Coronas on ice and handing one over to Kage said"You can have any beer you want, as long as it's a Corona", making Kage smirk as he took one and said, "Love that shit."
Dom smiled and seeing Mia enter the garage he said with a joking tone"Hey Mia it seems I found a perfect husband for you,he is a great racer, good with cars and he even drinks corona." Dom stated making Letty and Jesse laugh while Mia blushed a bit before giggling and punching his arm, while Kage chuckled as he didn't take it seriously since he thought Dom was joking, but in reality Dom wished Mia and Kage get together as he felt his little sister would be well looked after.
As Mia questioned, "So Alex you never talked about your family ?"
Kage thought for while and replied"I am an orphan and was adopted by a Martial arts master who gave me home and family. It was nice,I actually had a younger brother Thomas who looked up to me life was good. But things went down as my adopted father was killed and someone farmed my younger brother for his murder."
Everyone looked at Kage with sympathy as he continues"Well my brother in fear ran away, he probably panicked and ran, and to this day I have been searching for him. He may not be my blood, but he is still my brother."Kage started sipping his beer as Dom nodded as Jesse, Mia, and Letty went back into the garage.
Dom who was thoughtful and gestures Kage to follow as he goes to the warehouse solemnly unlocks a padlock. Then pulls open the garage door open. The room revealing a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T it looked awesome. He also noticed racing pennants, pictures, trophies. Dom looking at the car said"Me and my dad built her. nine hundred horses. a beast. know what she ran in Palmdale?"
Kage shook his head as Dom answers"Nine seconds flat. my dad was driving. so much damn torque, chassis twisted coming off the line. old man barely kept her on the track."
Kage seeing how reluctant Dom is even to touch asked"You have never driven her have you?"
Dom shook her head and replied"Never. It scares the shit out of me."Kage questioned, "So what about you any other relatives?"
Dom shook his head and answered, "No, just me and my sister."Kage was sure he heard his heart rate increase as he thought he is hiding something, but he let it go as Dom was staring at the car sipping his beer he stated"My mom passed when Mia was still wearing diapers. My dad taught me everything from fixing to driving a car. He was coming up in the pro stock circuit. Last race of the season, he was coming into the final turn and a guy named Kenny Linder came up from inside. He clipped his bumper and put him into the wall at a hundred and twenty miles an hour. I watched my father burn to death. I can still hear him screaming. The people that were there said he had died before the tanks blew... they said it was me who was screaming."
Dom stated taking a larger swig of his beer as Dom with slight remorse spoke, "I saw Linder about a week later. I had a wrench... and I hit him. And I didn't mean to keep hitting him, but... by the time I was done, I couldn't lift my arm. He's a janitor at an elementary school now. He has to take the bus to work every day... and they banned me from the tracks for life."Dom took another drink from his corona as he squats before the car, contemplating it, suddenly seeming old and weary as he said"I live my life a quarter-mile at a time, Kage. For those few seconds, man ... It's just me and my ride and a little road. Nothing else matters. The mortgage, that loser sandwich shop, my team, and all their bullshit. For those few seconds....I'm free."
