The world's greatest swordsman…
His gaze was as sharp as an eagle's. The moment he turned his head, Tashigi felt the presence of an incredibly dangerous being watching her, and cold sweat trickled down her back.
Immediately, her hands and feet became stiff.
Hawkeye stood there, like a sword piercing the heavens and the earth. His sword intent was invisible but palpable, radiating from him in waves, sending heart-pounding tremors throughout the entire square.
Tashigi swallowed hard, her white jade neck moving with the effort. She felt so small and helpless within the crushing presence of Hawkeye's sword intent.
Yet, somehow, she found the courage within her.
With trembling hands, she grasped the hilt of Xiao Ye Shiyu's sword and slowly, hesitantly, drew it out.
Holding the sword in both hands, she positioned herself forward. "Seven Warlords of the Sea, Mr. Mihawk, you've damaged the tavern and the plaza. Please leave the appropriate compensation before you go," Tashigi declared, her voice filled with determination.
Sweat dripped down both sides of her cheeks, revealing the tension in her heart.
"Drawing a sword against the world's greatest swordsman... is she out of her mind?"
"Look at that sword! It may not be the supreme blade, but it's definitely extraordinary!"
"That's Xiaoye Shiyu, a famous sword! She might be more than she seems. This could be an exciting battle!"
"You're dreaming! The moment Hawkeye draws his sword, it's over!"
Hawkeye's pupils shifted slightly, his gaze settling on Tashigi's sword.
"A swordsman who dares to speak to me like that... you're the first."
As the world's greatest swordsman, Hawkeye had slain countless foes. He was neither a kind man nor a faithful one. Even though Tashigi was a Marine, it didn't deter him. Among the Seven Warlords of the Sea, he was the least bound by rules. Killing a Marine? It meant nothing to him. As long as it wasn't a major offense, the Marines would turn a blind eye.
Hawkeye looked at the female swordsman before him and spoke calmly, "For your courage, I'll allow you to state your name before we begin."
As the world's greatest swordsman, Hawkeye had an eccentric nature. Regardless of strength, he accepted any challenge from a swordsman. However, the privilege of declaring one's name before a battle was usually reserved for renowned swordsmen in the New World. For an unknown young female swordsman, this was indeed a great "honor."
"Tashigi, Sergeant of Naval Headquarters! I ask for your guidance!" Tashigi shouted with pride.
Though fear gripped her heart, she would not retreat in the face of the impending battle. Her gaze was fixed on the world's largest black sword behind Mihawk, as were the eyes of everyone around them.
But to everyone's surprise, Hawkeye didn't reach for the black sword. Instead, he held the cross pendant at his chest, grasping its lower end, and pulled out a small knife.
With a swift motion, the mini blade pointed forward.
"What? Is that a knife too?"
"Is he really going to fight with that tiny thing?"
"This is humiliating!"
"The difference in their strength is too great. Even if it's humiliating, what choice does she have?"
Seeing the small knife in Hawkeye's hand, Tashigi felt both ashamed and enraged.
This was bullying!
She clenched her hands tightly and, with a flushed face, angrily demanded, "What do you mean by this?"
"In terms of your strength, this is the smallest blade I could find," Hawkeye replied calmly, his tone devoid of any mockery, as if merely stating a fact.
Perhaps it was a great humiliation to others, but to him, it was just a trivial matter. What did it matter if it was humiliating?
"Unacceptable!"
Her pink cheeks puffed with anger as Tashigi shouted defiantly and prepared to attack. But before she could move, a broad, powerful hand suddenly pressed down on her white palm, stopping her.
"What kind of skill is it to bully a girl? If you want to show off, try picking on someone your own size!"
The abrupt words and casual tone drew the attention of everyone in the square, focusing all eyes on the figure now standing beside Tashigi.
