Dance in the Night

"Are you sure about this? Is this really cool with you?" Asked Bai Shen when he felt Lin Ruoxi's leg touching his.

"Hehe, don't be scared of this big sister now~" Instead of responding to his question, Lin Ruoxi decided to tease the young Bai Shen and brush the matter aside.

In reality, she was also quite uncomfortable and regretted her earlier decision of being together with him in the same tent, alone.

Not to mention that it was really cramped; making the two of them be in constant touch.

'Could it be the police or maybe that guy's friends came to look for him? I never entertained the possibility that he may have told someone what he tried to do.'

'Maybe he even wanted to 'share' Lin Ruoxi with other people.' A wave of disgust overtook Bai Shen's senses.

He swiftly retrieved his sword from under the blanket, and quietly left the tent, without waking Lin Ruoxi up.

'Let's see...' Before the young man could make another step, he once again heard something moving in the bushes.

Swish Swish!

Two shadows revealed themselves, thanks to the moonlight shining on them.

Bai Shen's pupils constricted as he saw two gray wolves looking at him. "Shit"

The young man couldn't help but curse out loud.

"Bai Shen? Where are you?" The noise made earlier managed to wake Lin Ruoxi up, when Bai Shen heard her voice, he couldn't help but bark, "Stay inside! Don't come out, no matter what you hear!"

These words gave the young woman a bad premonition, she didn't know what was happening, "Bai Shen, what's wrong?! Did something happen?"

Knowing that it could be a dangerous situation, Lin Ruoxi softly asked.

"Just do what I say and-"

"Awooo!" The two wolves were probably bored of hearing Bai Shen conversing with Lin Ruoxi, so they decided to act.

Slwoly advancing forward, they showed two pair of fangs to the young man.

'Weren't they actually afraid of humans?! Why the heck do they seem so eager to kill me?'

Confused that not everything he read may be true, Bai Shen got himself into a stance and prepared himself for the imminent attack.

"What was that?! Are there wolves?" Unfortunately for Lin Ruoxi, this time, no one responded back.

Bai Shen was fully focused on the two threats in front of him, 'It's going to be alright, jus like I practiced. First, wait for one of them to get closer, take a step forward, and cut him in two!'

"Come!" Without warning, Bai Shen shouted at the wolves, one of them stopped in its tracks and even took a step back, but the other wolf advanced; probably because he felt provoked.

Fastly approaching Bai Shen, the wolf tried to go for his legs, 'I got you, bastard!'

Bai Shen's eyes gleamed with surprise, seeing that the wolf opted to attack his legs instead of his body or arms.

Faking a step forward, Bai Shen suddenly retreated a bit, before swinging his sword at the wolf.

"Awoo!" Sensing that something was off the other wolf also tried to join the fray, but it was too late, since its companion already fell down.

"Go down doggo!" Once again shouting to preserve his courage, Bai Shen actually went forward to meet the wolf head on.

This was because by luck or not, the first wolf who attacked him tried to dodge a sure strike to its head; but instead had its neck cut by Bai Shen's sword.

He didn't die yet, but it was only a matter of time until he did.

Meanwhile, as Bai Shen advanced, the second wolf tried to jump on him, but he quickly rolled sideways.

Brandishing his sword for a swing, Bai Shen's muscles were working at maximum capacity.

"Haa!" Releasing a primal shout, Bai Shen pretended to swing his sword at the wolf, before stopping when he saw that the latter did not come closer to him.

Then he also stopped his swing mid-air, and fastly stabbed forward, impaling the wolf's shoulder.

'Take this!' Not wasting any more time, Bai Shen swiftly retrieved his sword back, before also cutting the second wolf's neck; just like he did with the first one.

"Shit..." he softly cursed, before looking at the two wolves sprawled on the ground.

'Steal.' Using his Talent on the first wolf, Bai Shen turned to the second one and did the same thing, 'Steal.'

'Phew, I was damn scared. I wonder how did those two happen to arrive here.'

Not bothering himself to think about these things anymore, Bai Shen tried to check his System.

It was Lin Ruoxi who came to see the situation, "Are you... Wolves?! What happened? How did they come here?"

"That's not funny! I mean, wolves are usually afraid of encountering humans, they don't like us, neither buildings or roads."

Rolling his eyes, Bai Shen argued back, "But still, they came. I know they are attracted by the smell of blood, but I didn't kill any animal around here."

"That's a strange situation indeed. Hmm... Bai Shen, do you want to risk it and go to your villa now, in the middle of the night?"

As Lin Ruoxi asked this, she saw that Bai Shen frowned; most likely, he didn't entertain the idea too much.
