Where am I? (*Edited*)

The first thing I realised was I was shorter than I should be, and yet felt weaker too. But more than that, I was not in a bedroom, but in a sanitised room with green walls and curtains drawn around my bed.

I waited for something to happen, but there was nothing happening. No memories of this body, nobody coming to check up on me, and I was strapped to the bed.

Just as I was going to call for someone, I saw the curtains part and a woman carrying a tray and a oddly shaped bottle come closer.

"W-where am I?"

I felt my throat hurt a little, and drinking a glass of water, I looked at the woman.

She wore a old style nurse costume, that looked straight out of Tudors show. It was a teal coloured robe with a white matron cap. And she herself was a brunette, lean and about 5 foot seven tall. She had a kind smile on her face and she helped me sit up and fluffed the pillow for me.

"Good day young man. How are we feeling today?"

I drank the glass of water, she offered, and gulped. My throat hurt a little, as I answered.

"A bit groggy, but it doesn't hurt anywhere. What happened to me?"

She gently placed her palm on my forehead, and looked at my right arm. It had blackened a little, and surprisingly was healing to a flesh pink at a visible rate.

I don't know much about medical science, but from my experiences, my own and inherited, told me that blackened skin is necrotic tissue, and very dangerous as it seeps into the body and destroys everything unless the infection is amputated.

But the healing of necrotic skin was not scientific, as there is nothing there to heal. So this was a fantasy setting at best, and science fiction at worst.

Despite these thoughts blazing past my mind, it was a mere moment in the real world. I realised that I had an ability to comprehend and deduce faster than before.

And yet my breath hitched the moment the woman answered.

"You were out in the woods playing alone young man, at night and that too on a full moon night. You encountered a werewolf and were running away from him. From the Aurors who found you, you were saved from a grueling death by a Lethifold of all things, and it had been stuck to your arm after it devoured the werewolf."

Seemingly ignoring my terror and shock, the woman continued as if recanting a bedside tale.

"You saw the gore and fainted, but the Lethifold refuses to leave your side. Fortunately, the Lethifold seems to have taken a liking to you, young man, and you were not scratched by the werewolf, or you would have been cursed with lycanthropy."

I moved my lips but there was no sound coming, as my words stuck in my throat. I felt out of breath, as if I was heaving, and for a second, it looked like I would have a panic attack.

But, suddenly, as if on instinct, I could focus my senses, as I close my eyes and concentrated on my breaths. After a few seconds, my breathing felt regulated, and I could focus on the issue at hand.

I knew where I was, not just the world, but the country and the general location. My whereabouts aside, I knew what the woman was talking about, and I realised that I should have known where I was sooner, when the wierd bottle the woman carried was a Skele-grow potion.

I knew I was in Harry Potter world, in UK, and in St. Mungo's. I knew the woman was either a healer, or a nurse or equivalent for magicals.

And I understood the severity of my case. Lethifolds are dark creatures who look like a dark shroud and fly in the night, feasting on flesh. They are categorised in the same vein as Nundu, Dragons and Basilisks. A XXXXX type of beast, from which you simply run away or die.

And Lethifold were supposed to be Man-eater. They ate human flesh, and strangled people in their sleep. But they were incredibly rare. And moreover, they were supposed to not be UK. They were in some African countries or in some third world countries off the coast of Carribbean Sea.

And therefore, the only follow up that I could ask was, "Is that normal?"

I heard a soft bell-like giggle from her. "Nothing like that ever happened before, my dear. Werewolf are savage beasts who never toy with their food. They either attack you and turn you, or attack you and feast on you. A werewolf toying with a child, no less, seems quite a rare thing to think, and yet we have your squib groundskeeper as a witness to the event."

She sat next to me, and gently combed her fingers through my silky hair. "But more than that, a Lethifold in Britain is unthinkable. A Lethifold that spares a human child, and kills a werewolf is more so. And yet, a Lethifold actively protecting a human child, and holding onto the unconscious child till help arrives is something out of a fairy tale. We weren't sure, if the past recorded instances of Lethifolds were lying, or something was different here, but the Aurors who arrived to help were quite competent. They tried to verify if the Lethifold was merely a Boggart, but when the spell didn't work, and the Lethifold merely left after unwrapping from your arm, the Aurors chose not to pursue the creature and leave you in the woods, so they brought you here."

I was attentive, and realised that she was quite forthcoming with information, and quite gentle with me, like she knew me personally.

But before I could say anymore, I was interrupted from my thoughts and my unasked question.

(Edited: I wanted to make the MC arrive at three years old, and begin his adventure at seven to eight years old. But the time wouldn't match, so I decided to make it more realistic. The timeline would still be the same, don't worry!)

"You don't remember me, but I was your mother's healer when she gave birth to you. I have been your healer on-call since your birth. Your mother and I were in the same batch from Hogwarts of 1966. She was in Slytherin, and I was in Ravenclaw. And we are friends. She left last night, because she was panicking and frantic. So I told her to come in the morning, when she has her wits about her. So be a good boy, and have your breakfast. You were brave yesterday dear, but you are safe now."

A.N: I changed the date, from what I previously intended. I could see that a seven year old boy having an adventure around the countries, didn't seem too realistic. Please note a forward change in the dates from this point. Looking at the chapters is not required, as at the point where this change matters, I added an Author's Note to prevent any spoilers. Please comment if you spot any inconsistency. Thanks for reading!
