"You guys are doing it again." Eve muttered before taking another bite of her food.
"What is it, Eve?" Alex asked her. He gave her his full attention. Anything about Eve important to him.
"Deciding for me. You all..." Eve pointed at everyone on the table with her fork. "...are acting like I'm a child that cant decide for herself. Have you guys noticed that I am actually here?"
"Then, what do you want? Do you want to stay here or leave with him?" Alex tried to be on her good side.
"We are not giving her that option. She knows nothing about the real world. She is still a child!" Grandma Martha didn't like her authority being challenged. "She is staying here. And that's final!" She stood up abruptly with Alex standing on cue with his head bowed.
"I'm sorry, My Queen. I did not mean to..."
"Shut up!" Grandma Martha shunned him immediately. "Guards! Escort Mr Andrew to his room!" She ordered. Glaring at the vampire. She could not tolerate anybody challenging her authority. She was going to make sure
he doesn't do anything reckless.
"Eve, you should eat up quickly." For the first time that morning, grandma Martha had spoken to Eve. Since Eve had greeted her, she had not said a word to her. She had only spared her a nod. "You'll be escorted by the guards to your room. " With that she left the dining room with Alex on her toes.
Eve watched how the guards tried to restrain Andrew. Where did all these guards come from? She had only noticed two guards by the door when she had entered the dining room. But now, there were guards everywhere.
"Touch me and lose your hands."
Andrew warned them as he stood up. "I'll see you soon, princess." He looked at her for a brief moment before leaving.
Now, Eve was left alone with four guards at the door. She was going to make sure she finished her food before leaving. She was not going to let the tense vibe stop her from eating her favourite food.
Taking another bite, she realized something. Her mother was right. Grandma Martha was too strict. If this was how her mother lived while she was here, then she could not blame
her mum from running away.
With all these guards everywhere, living here would be suffocating for her. Where were all these guards the other night when some creature had attacked them? Maybe Andrew was right. It was not safe here. Going to Faeland, wherever it was, could be a better idea.
Besides, Eve needed to find her mother. Her mom could be somewhere out there, injured. She was not sure of where her mother was or what state she was in. But she was sure of one thing. She would never find her mum if she was locked up in this mansion, with guards everywhere.
Eve noticed two more guards join the ones at the door. Grandma Martha really meant business. She was really going to keep her locked up in her room.
Eve had to find a way to leave this mansion, and the town all together.
