Beginning 01

It was almost midnight. A man was dicing the limbs of his victims. He had a smile on his face. There was another person in that room. The person was a six-year-old boy. He was too terrified to understand what was happening to him, but he knew it wasn't something he should look forward to. He was already bruised, and the man had no intention of letting him go, as he saw the man butchering the dead bodies of his victims with a frightening smile, his hopes began to diminish. Then, the man looked at the boy. The boy knew it was his time. The man picked the boy up and the boy realized once again that all his resists were in vain. But to his surprise, the boy wasn't stabbed by that blood-stained knife, rather he was placed in a weird circle with a square inside it. Then the man opened a file.

"So, after pacing the dead bodies around the child, I need to put the necklace on the kid and

after that, I need to begin chanting.".

He put the necklace on the boy and began chanting,

"Oh, the great daemon

I gift you the bodies of my preys

Along with a youngling as a vessel

So I ask for your presence

and the present gifts you will bring with you.

and make this human aware of your magnificence".

Then a blue fire lit up around the boy. It engulfed him for a second. The boy saw the blue flames around him, it reached his skin. Soon, the entire body of the boy combusted. It was hurting but he realized his skin was taking no damage and then it stopped. The man was confused he had read that the ritual would show results fifteen minutes after the kid died, which might take an hour or two. But for the ritual to work instantly and to suddenly stop without granting him any powers was not written in the files. As he was pondering, the door was busted open, and there the police came in. The man tried to reach for the boy but he was shot in the legs by an officer.

He was subdued and then handcuffed while the boy was taken to the hospital

The boy woke up to find his mother sleeping with a chair beside his bed.

He said, "Mom".

Hearing that the mother woke up and hugged her son. She was crying in tears while saying "Don't go outside during the night ever again aya, what would I have done if that if that-"

Ayato was feeling quite relieved to hug his mom again, he was happy but he did not cry. His mom noticed it but brushed it off.

They talked for a while. His father also came. After that, a police officer came and asked how he was kidnapped and what happened after that.

The boy told him everything that happened to him. He went outside his house despite his mother's warning, after that, a person put a crumbled paper ball in his mouth and took him inside his van. He was beaten up. He saw the man chopping dead bodies and the blue names.

The police officer did not believe the blue flames part and neither did his parents.

Then the officer told the parents that the killer was born in a family of occult practitioners, his father was also a serial killer, and the man learned about the ritual from his father's files.

The Kinoshita family returned home. Ayato Kinoshita was taken to a psychiatrist because he kept on insisting that the fires were real. He had a weird feeling about the psychiatrist, he smelled similar to burning paper but not quite. The psychiatrist just said it was a hallucination due to the brain's subconscious desire to understand something it can't. He then started to remain quiet about it. But after three years he met a girl who had the same kind of smell as the psychiatrist. His usual session with his psychiatrist Yuuki Nozami went as usual even after six years have passed.

He as usual asked, "What are you hiding?"

Yuuki replied, "I am not hiding anything".

"Cut the crap. I know that what I saw wasn't a hallucination"

"Oh, then what was it?"

"I don't know but you smell weird like that black-haired girl from my class".

Nijima paused for a moment and then said,

"Aww, does someone have a crush".

Ayato's face was all red, " Damn you, you asshole".

"And you are the kid who enjoys talking to this asshole".

It was true and they both knew it but Ayato would never admit it.

"Never, why do I even have to meet you, why can't my mother trust that I am normal? "

"You know exactly why".

"Fine, tell me about your life, how are your academics?"

"I don't have any problem there, like I always said I have never forgotten any form of text that I read at least twice if I did not want to forget, all my senses are perfect, I never get sick, I heal far more quickly than a normal human, and you say that flame was nothing but my imagination."

"how about your hobby of learning things way above your level?"

"I already have completed pure mathematics and solved all previous Putnam questions, have learned all things to know about camping, got myself an elo of 2100, learned two different martial arts, parkour, and much more", he said with a smirk.

"Good to see that you are improving".

"hmph, one day I will find what you are hiding",

He normally makes a lot of snarky comments and acts far less childish in front of others but Yuuki was always one step ahead at ticking his check marks. One could even say he learned it from Yuuki.

As he was coming back from school the next day, he was shot with a red shiny ball and his heart stopped. But he still hadn't died yet. Everything went blurry, it was at that moment he saw Nijima come and fire gunshots at the guy, the guy was surrounded by a black sphere. Ayato lost consciousness after that.

Yuuki after noticing the fact that Ayato might be already dead started to cry, he ran as quickly as he can to Ayato's body and hugged it. It was stupid to stop putting pressure on his opponents as it would give the opponent an advantage to counter-attack. But he didn't care, he hugged the body and created a red cube around them.

"Huh, never thought the magi hunter would get so attached to a mere child".

Yuuki in a menacing tone yelled, "Shut up!!!".

Yuuki thought to himself that he failed to save anyone once again, he then said to Ayato's dead body, "I am sorry, please don't die here".

He knew it was useless but he couldn't control himself. Then, he noticed that Ayato's heart had restarted once again. He was shocked by what was happening at that moment. But the cube broke apart so he could not afford to be shocked anymore. He knew that Ayato was alive, and would have to keep him alive. So, he took out both his revolver and started firing them once again. He was moving at a speed far greater than anything humans could see.

He also set up a field that helped him see what music arts were in use in that field unbeknownst to his opponent.

He heard the man in a red cloak say through a telepathic connection, "How is he this fast, even the best combatants at the Ivory Tower have a hard time going that fast?"

He got a reply from the other side saying, " He was known as the magi hunter, he was said to be one of the best combatants among the modern magi, stay as far from him as you can. You can't beat him in combat so blow the place up, he was retired for nearly 15 years, and this attack was unexpected so he did not have time to make plans that can exploit your weaknesses like he used to do with his targets".

Yuuki realized that it was just as he had predicted, an organization was involved, even if he killed the guy here, more would follow, if it was six years ago, organizations like this wouldn't have been

a problem but now it would be almost impossible for him to get rid of them all, so Yuuki decided to use a teleportation scroll the moment the man blows up the entire place.

The man took out a metal orb and threw it at them. Yuuki following his plan used his teleportation scroll to get out of Hashi city with Ayato.

He took Ayato to his house in London.

After an hour Ayato woke up. He looked around the house, it was pretty big. He looked from the windows that he was on the second floor and there were at least a few acres of land around them, there was also a large estate pond.

Ayato thought to himself, "How does Yuuki even afford this place or know someone who does? More importantly, what am I doing here? I knew he wasn't normal but I did not expect anything like this".

He saw Yuuki at the dining table and asked, "Who are you, and what's going on here?"

Yuuki replied, " It's a long story, you might want to eat something first".
