"I wanted to become a hero"
As long as I was able to think for myself, I always just wanted to become a hero who can always help people without hesitation.
"I wanted to do something for humanity."
When I came to understand my purpose, I just wanted to help my own people to achieve something, even if it cost me my life.
"I wanted to become a lover"
In the process, I came to terms with the fact that I wanted more. I truly fell in love with a girl because she is the person I wanted to share all of my love and the best moments of my life, sometimes bad moments too because I was not strong enough to handle all of the expectations from everyone.
"I wanted to become a father"
Time goes by, and I became selfish, but I didn't forget my goals. I came to terms that I just wanted to spend my life with her. After finishing everything in my life, I just wanted to go somewhere and spend the rest of my life with her and make a baby who can see the world that I work so hard to change.
"I wanted to become a friend"
When I found more people like myself in the facility, I became more selfish. I also wanted to have some friends because no matter how much happiness you have in your life, you can't enjoy it if you just want to see it alone.
In the last moments of my life, I came to understand that in the end, I truly just wanted to become a good human. If you're thinking I succeeded in achieving even one of my dreams, then the answer is very simple: yes, I did some of them but for only a short time.
Now, I lost everything. I saw my friends decide to sacrifice themselves for me, so I can live. My Anna died for me because she wanted me to see the day. I saw living hell in my life. If you're thinking I'm dying by the hand of someone evil or if your imagination is running wild, and you're thinking I'm dying in a battlefield, then you're wrong, my friend. I'm dying because my own people decided to kill me. No, don't think I'm some kind of king dying betrayed by my people. Of course not. I'm dying at the age of 17, and I'm dying in an experiment room.
In the end, I didn't try to beg for my life because no matter what happened, I just don't want to beg for my life. Well, yeah, I died in the process of the experiment, and at the same time, I lost my humanity, my feelings, my mortal boundaries—everything that makes a person human.

EARTH / SECRET LABORATORY - 47635
DATE - 23/11/2050
EXPERIMENT CHAMBER - D
The room is highly advanced, considering current technology. In this chamber, ten children are tied to a machine, and it seems this device is injecting some kind of serum into their brains and bodies. One of the children is crying, but instead of tears, it's blood streaming from his eyes. Immense hatred is visible in his blood-stained eyes. This is no ordinary hatred; it's as if he's losing his remaining humanity in the process.
"Why? What did I do to deserve this?" he asked himself the same question again and again.
He doesn't want to beg for his life because he's witnessed so much in his short life, an experience akin to a living hell where no amount of suffering can compare.
As the serum comes into contact with his internal body structure, every part of his body is torn into small pieces. It's a pain beyond human endurance. Yet, this isn't the worst part. When the serum is injected into his brain, every neuron shreds into pieces. It's a pain millions of times more excruciating than a headache.
In the end, he attempted to end his suffering by biting his tongue, but he couldn't. He was unable to even cry out as the machine sealed his entire mouth. Nevertheless, his cries echoed throughout the room until he ceased struggling.
In his last moments of suffering, he was able to reflect on what he wanted from his life, how wrong he had been. Every memory of his life flooded his brain in his dying moments.
-----
Upon closer inspection, nine children are already dead. Only one remains, and he is also dying. Just as he is about to succumb, one of the scientists attempts to save the last test subject. However, many other observers outside of the room, watching from behind a transparent glass wall, order to let the subject die.
The doctor, who is the head of this experiment, does not comply because his entire life is about to be ruined. He deactivates the machine at the last moment, but the subject dies before the doctor could do something about it.
-------
These children have been suffering in this hellish laboratory for 15 years. These people are too inhumane; they have experimented with too many things on these children. One of the major experiments involved removing the limits of the brain because every human has limitations.
The human brain cannot perform calculations at a high rate or effectively store and manage data. Of course, the human brain cannot do this because it works differently than a computer. However, some crazy scientists decided to do something wild; they wanted to mix both of them – a human brain with the ability to compute with 100% accuracy and have no limits.
In this experiment, they attempted to remove the limits of the human brain without any external help, such as using technology. They wanted to program the human brain to work like a computer and also remove the limiter of the brain in this process, aiming to gain [Cyber Mind] ability in reality.
Many people believe consciousness is a creation of the human brain, while others believe consciousness controls the brain. Regardless, no matter how much progress humans make in neurology or technically and biologically, they cannot study the human brain because they are using the same thing to study itself.
It's ironic that humans fear if AI gains consciousness, it can study its own code, yet humans are attempting the same thing with the human brain.
What is special about this experiment that has taken so many lives? The reason for doing so lies 20 years ago when a meteorite struck planet Earth. It was small, so there was no mass destruction, but scientists found an alien substance that could accelerate someone's thought process or perform calculations like a computer.
However, the terrifying side effect was that after one minute, it could fry the subject's brain because the human brain can't handle such calculations or an accelerated thought process.
Using this substance as a base, scientists made modifications within the limits of their technology, creating 10 serums with different theories that could theoretically remove the limits of the brain.
This child, named ZX-4775, was the experimental subject, and they prepared him for this experiment for 15 years with 1,000 children from all over the world. It was all in the name of humanity, and he is one of the 10 survivors; all the other children are already dead.
[Author Note: Our protagonist's name was ZX-4775 on Earth.]
ZX-4775 was only 5 years old, the youngest child approved for this experiment. They inflicted many psychological tortures from the beginning to simulate the brain to the highest degree. For example, they simulated relationships with all the children for 10 years and provided education for better brain development.
The children formed bonds with each other. Over these 10 years, the children had their inhuman education complicated. They also read manga, novels, watched movies, and anime extensively to stimulate their imaginations. This accelerated their maturation until they reached 15 years old.
The scientists used these children to simulate more emotions and trauma. They used the [White Room] experiment as a base to select the 10 children for the last experiment.
In this white room experiment, they trapped 100 children in the same room, and for a 30-day time limit, they only provided less than enough food for all the children. It worked like this: 100 children were trapped inside the white room, given food for only 90 children. In this way, 10 children would die fighting for it. This continued for the entire month until only one survivor was left in the white room. Some children survived for 15 days, but they were eaten by others. Some committed suicide for their friends, while others lasted the whole month, becoming the 10 survivors of the white room experiment.
ZX-4775 was one of the survivors of the white room experiment. He survived because, at the end of the experiment, his friends committed suicide for him so he could live a little longer, knowing that everyone was going to die anyway. This situation literally broke him, and his emotions were almost gone.
This inhumane method was agreed upon by the government, all in the name of humanity. They obtained a total of 10 test subjects out of 1000 for this experiment.
--------
Before he died, he had no emotions left for anything. He didn't even believe in a higher power or god because if it existed, he wouldn't have to suffer like this. He lost consciousness and found himself in a dark place; there was nothing there.
"Where am I? Why is this place so dark?" he thought after observing everything.
The first thing he noticed was he could not feel his body. Then again, he thought he died in an experiment after he came to this place. He began to theorize his situation because his thinking process is unusually fast, so he instantly came to conclusions.
He has two theories about his current situation. Before they prepared him for the last experiment, he knew it was to remove the brain limiter so the human brain could perform tasks like a computer—calculations with high speed, high thought processes, and remembering and processing data with high accuracy.
So, he thought about this being the first situation where he was dying, and this place is an illusion because his brain was not working, hence he couldn't feel his body. He imagined, in this situation, he was already dead, and this was the last process where people think about their life in high speed, where in an instant, they can recall everything. For him to have unusually fast thinking speed or calculation abilities right now, this must be due to the experiment.
In the second situation, he imagined he was already dead. He was in another place after dying because he didn't believe in any religion, so he thought he was in another place with only his consciousness. He knew about [Dr. Manhattan] from the comic, so his situation wasn't far from that case.
Surprisingly, he did not feel anything; in a way, he was like an emotionless machine, and he had no body to feel any pain. He believed he was in his soul form, but he didn't feel anything, so he thought this was his consciousness only.
Then he started counting and thinking about how things came to this point.
"1 million."
After counting and at the same time observing his surroundings to find any changes, but he didn't find anything. So, he came to the conclusion that this place doesn't have any concept of time.
"10 million."
First, he only suspected that this place doesn't have any concept of time, but after counting this much number, he was sure about how much time it might mean if he converted these numbers into time.
"90 million."
At this point, he thought he was going to be stuck here forever because he didn't feel anything, nor did he have any emotions. So, it didn't matter how much time had passed because, in a way, he was an emotionless machine.
"1 billion."
After counting this many numbers, he began to count without even trying, part of his consciousness doing this job, and he was thinking about the best possible solution for himself.
"1 trillion."
Now he found a solution because he had calculated many things, so he was sure this would work in his situation. Since he didn't know how long he was going to be stuck here, he decided to convert all his memories into numerical data using the process called ["binary encoding"]. In normal situations, this is an impossible thing to do without a computer, but in his situation, his calculation and analytical capabilities far surpassed those of a supercomputer.
"90 trillion."
He converted the last bit of his memories because he could literally remember every second of his life history. Since he couldn't feel anything and didn't have emotions, he didn't feel anything revisiting his nightmare memories where all his friends died for him so he could live.
"1 quadrillion."
Now he coded his whole consesenes into a numerical data because he doesn't have anything els to do so he converted everything into a numerical Data and sealed his memories into this new type of consesenes where even his thinking process using binary code to think .
"30 quadrillion."
At this point, his consciousness fully converted into a [numerical consciousness ]. Because of this type of consciousness, he re-coded his memories into two parts where the first part was his memories before coming into this place with some information about this place.
The second part was the amount of time he spent here in this dark place. Why he did this? Because he calculated that if he wakes up again and has even a 1% chance, this much information would overwhelm him after waking up.
"90 quadrillion."
After realizing the counting crossed quadrillion numbers, he decided to seal everything in his consciousness. So, even if he went into a reincarnation situation, his memories would not be erased, no matter how much someone or something tried to do so. Because he had knowledge of many novels, he considered this step important; otherwise, it would be too foolish to ignore the suspicion. Then he shut his consciousness, using coding, leaving only a small part for counting.
"?????????"
...CRACK...
The dark space shattered like some kind of mirror.
