Chapter 10

The children look down the banks of the river which is breaking into chunks of ice that are floating away on the fast current. A frozen waterfall looms on their left.

Peter assesses the situation and holding Lucy's hand starts to make his way down the bank. Susan grabs his arm Peter: We need to cross, now!

Lucy questioned"Don't beavers make dams?"

Mr. Beaver jokingly answered"I'm not that fast, dear."

Hadrian spoke up"Come on!"

Susan was slightly afraid after all the ice was cracking and said"Wait! Will you just think about this for a minute?"

Peter in annoyance spoke up"We don't have a minute."

Susan in anger replied glaring at Peter"I'm just trying to be realistic."

Peter rolled his eyes and said"No, you're trying to be smart.As usual."

Hadrian cut in with stern tone"Stop,we don't have time for this.I can magic to strengthen the ice when we cross over."

The two brother andsister nodded,they didn't know the full extent of Hadrian's powers.They slowly starts climbing down. Hadrian helps Susan down carelfully,but the howling of the wolves in a distance.The wolves were sniffing at the cave where the children previously hid.

At the same time the witch in her sleigh crossing the huge frozen lake.

Back at the river, Peter puts a foot on the ice and water spurts up from under it.Hadrian started strenghting them,but Mr. Beaver went first and said"Wait.Maybe I should go first."

Peter nodded and said"Maybe you should."

Mr Beaver tests out the ice with his feet and tail,soon found out the ice was now strong ans said"It seems the ice is stronger,I guess Prince Hadrian's magic worked."

Mrs. Beaver noticing something and spoke up"You've been sneaking second helpings, haven't you?"

Mr. Beaver replied"Well, you never know which meal's gonna be your last.Especially with your cooking."he made sure to whisper the last part.

The children start to follow Mr Beaver across the ice.

They all made there way to the other side,but

Hadrian held his hand out and started melting the ice faster.

Lucy notices the wolves coming and muttered"Oh, no!"

Hadrian yelled"Hurry.I will make sure they don't cross."

But Peter decided stay back,to support Hadrian.Peter draws his sword.

But the waterfall started melting and it started to crack and collapse and the waterfall plunges down on them and sweeps away.

But through sheer luck or bad luck, only Maugrim being enchanced by magic jumped to one of the cracked ice on the top of the frozen waterfall and straight towards Hadrian, who raised his arm. energy pulsed, and Maugrim was seized by the shape of a huge, sickly green hand and lifted into the air.Hadrian's eyes flared, like a small eruption of green magma, and the magical hand tightened and throws him into the water that sweeps him away with strong wave.

Hardrian looked to see everyone was okay,but he soon sensed a powerful magical signature coming towards them,it was Jadis herself.

Hadrian with a hurried tone said"We have to move now,I can sense White Witch coming our way."

The Pevensie sibling nodded and quickly made there way,while they see a blossom growing in sped up style and leave their coats behind as the wood changes from winter into spring/summer.
