Wake Up!

Gora:

I woke to see darkness as far as the eye could see. It was so dark I could hardly tell if I had my eyes closed or not. (Where am I?) I thought as I examined my surroundings. I could see tiny specks of light far in the distance. I also noticed that I wasn't standing on anything. I was floating in the air. I was still in the body of Gora, as far as I could tell. The last thing I remember was my awakening.

"Oh, you're awake? Its hard to tell out here." A soft feminine voice rang in my head. I couldn't see a thing but judge by the friendly tone of the voice. I guessed it wasn't hostile. Hell, I didn't know what I would do if the voice was unfriendly. When I tried to move, I did very slowly as if I was weightless.

"Who's there." I said, but no words came out of my mouth. That's when I realized I wasn't breathing. I started to panic but realized quickly that I didn't need air. (This place gets stranger and stranger.) I thought, trying to get my bringing in the strange place.

"I'm sorry, I probably should have started with an explanation. Ahem. Hello, I am Nova, Goddess of the void. The place you are in is called the void. The Goddess spoke again in my mind. (Nova, like the Goddess, my mother, is named after?) I thought in confusion. I had never heard of the void goddess before.

"I have brought you here to ened the war of the Gods and bring back the balance." Nova spoke again before I could get my thoughts in order. ( I have a bad feeling about this.) I thought as I chewed on the Goddess's words. If I had it right, I was being recruited for yet another side of a war. I wanted absolutely nothing to do with it.

"No thank you, can you send me back now." I said flatly. I had no intention of accepting any more deals from anymore God's.

"I'm sorry, but you didn't have a choice. It has already been decided whether you want it or not." Nova said although she apologized, her tone was still cheery. I wanted to strangle the woman. (What has been decided, and by who?) Every time the woman spoke, she gave me more questions than answers. Why can't I just live everyday life without the interferers of the Gods?

"I brought you here to give you a warning Esha is in danger. The Goddess stated. ( I had no idea what she was talking about. Esha seemed fine to me. There weren't too many threats to the demon kingdom with my father in charge. In all honesty, I didn't have much of an attachment to the kingdom of Esha. I was planning on leaving when I got strong enough.

"I must leave now. Lea will get suspicious if I stay too long. I'll leave you with one last thing. Seek the place of your mother's birth." With her last words, I felt my eyes get heavier, and they closed.

Huh! I awoke for the second time finding myself in my bed. I breathed a sigh of relief when I realized I was back in my room. I didn't know who the Goddess of the void was, but I didn't want any part of whatever she wanted. I shook the thought out of my head, choosing to ignore it for now. Mog was the first person I saw when I woke up. She was seated beside me, fast asleep.

I looked to my windows and noticed the sun was starting to go down. That's when I saw movement under my blankets. I quickly moved my sheet to find two tiny black pups cuddling next to me. The sight of the little animals made me smile a little. They were the jackals gifted to me by the beast tribe.

"What should I name you two?" I said, rubbing the dogs. They didn't move much, meaning they must be tired. I never had a pet before, and now I have two. Where do I even start? (First names.) I thought as I examined the short fur pups. It was hard coming up with names. There was one male and the other female.

"How about Canem for the lady, and Canis the gentelmen." I said to the two. They were still sleeping, so they didn't react to me. The names meant dog in my old language. I couldn't come up with anything better at the moment. I figured I could change them later if I wanted. I couldn't give it much thought. After what happened with the Goddess Nova, I couldn't get my thoughts straight.

I decided to check on my new soul core. Now that I have awakened, I could finally use Ki. I closed my eyes and concentrated hard on finding my core. After only a second of focus, I found it. It was much faster than I expected. It took me a few hours to find my core for the first time in my old world. I chalked it up to my experience. (There it is.) I thought as I located my tiny black core. I almost lost my focus, thanks to my excitement. I had so much Ki it was leaking out of my core. Black Ki swirled around my body, filling me with energy.

I had no idea what the black element was. So, I decided to test it out. I opened my eyes and channeled Ki into my palm. Dark energy appeared in my hand. The weight increased on my palm, driving my arm to the bed. (What the hell!) I thought as I struggled to lift my limb. I quickly canceled my mana, and the dark element disappeared.

"Gora!" I heard Mog say from my bedside. Her red eyes were puffy, like she had been crying all day. Mog's purple hair was a mess, which was odd for well put together maid. She just stared at me like I was a ghost. Mog touched my face gently. Her warm hands caressed my cheek.

"Keep it down. You'll wake them." I said, pointing at Canem and Canis. Mog gasped loudly.

"Thank the Goddess your awake. I thought you sleep forever!" Mog exclaimed as she grabbed me in a big hug. My body was still sore so, I groaned a little. This caused Mog to loosen her grip but continue her hug. I could handle a little pain, especially, if a hug from Mog caused it. When we finished our embrace, I asked Mog what had happened. The Maid recounted everything that occurred the past few days.

I learned that after my awakening, my body was in pretty bad shape. Mog and the healers tried their best, but it was touch and go for a while. If it wasn't for something called the satanic body, I might have died. Mog told me that as long as I had Ki, I would be able to heal myself. Although at my current level, my healing would be extremely slow. (So, it's like my healing powers in my old life.) I figured since demons aren't born with the magic healing arts. I would have to say goodbye to the ability.

I didn't know if I should be happy or not. I had used the ability before with great success. But the thought of having healing magic brought up horrible memories. (I just won't rely on it as I did in the past.) I reassured myself that I wouldn't be like my old self. I was going to live this life the way I wanted to. I wasn't going to let these Gods jerk me around.

"You've been sleep for three months weve been feeding you food pills. But its no subtitute for real food. I'll have Drak get you something." Mog announced. She had gotten into bed with me and was busy stroking my hair. I wasn't going to complain about a pretty woman jumping into bed with me. I was also starving three months of nonsolid food will do that to you.

Mog called for Drak, who was right outside on guard. I was almost positive he'd been there since I'd been asleep. The moment he walked in, his eyes bulged. He looked to me, then to Mog.

"Princess?" The blue man exclaimed. Drak made the same face Mog did when I first opened my eyes. I smiled as I greeted him. Having the two people around made me feel safe. Mog told the troll to get food and to tell my father that I woke up. I was surprised to learn that my dad had stayed in the capital for so long. That's when a thought occurred to me as Drak hurried to complete Mog's command.

"So, who did my father choose as his next heir?" I ask. I was curious as to who would be the next king. I needed to know who to look out for in the coming days. Mog looks at me strangely. She told me that my father hadn't chosen yet. I then got another strange look.

"There is a strong possibility that you might be choosen." Mog said softly. I laughed a little but quickly stopped when I noticed she wasn't laughing with me. (No way he'd choose me!) I thought. The idea was laughable. A human leading a nation of demons, such a thing was unheard of. My father wasn't that stupid. Even I knew that if I was chosen. The demon kingdom would tear itself apart.

"You showed the potenail to become a God. All ten layers." Mog sated. I was too shocked at her statement. The Goddess of chaos had told me I would have the chance to become a god. I didn't know that everyone else would know. It was a well-known fact that only the strongest demon could be the ruler of Esha. If I could obtain godhood, I would be a shoo-in for the position. I was silent in thought as we waited for Drak to get back.

It didn't take long for more people to show up. My father and his advisor showed up first, followed by the healer. Delvon showed up a few minutes after them. I was quickly overwhelmed by all the attention I was getting. My father wouldn't stop kissing me while the healer examined my wounds. Motus was quiet but eyed me intently. Delvon Almost dropped her tray of food when she saw me awake. I could see a few tears in her eyes which she quickly wiped away. I was happy to see the gorgeous woman. I could tell she had been worried about me. Unfortunately, since the King was there, she decided to leave and give us privacy. So, the maid only stayed for a moment.

"Can I have the room? So that I may speak with my daughter alone." Gorro asked, but everyone knew it was a command. Motus excused himself, saying his goodbyes, and wished me well. Mog reluctantly left the room, but only after starring hateful at my father. She demanded that he not take long. The room was once again silent as my father just sat with me. He didn't speak, just sat there staring at my closed window. He got up to open the curtains revealing the dark sky. The sight of the stars made me think of the Goddess Nova.

"I'm glad you're okay. You had me, and Mog worried for a second." My father said, not bothering to turn and look at me. He seemed to be deep in thought.

"I know this is soon, but I must have your answer." The king said. He looked at me seriously and paused before finishing his sentence.

"How would you like to be the next demon king? Well, in your case, I guess it would be the demon Queen." He said with a smile. I didn't know if he was asking me for fun or if he was serious.

"Not even a little bit!" I exclaimed as I sipped the soup Delvon had brought me. I decided I tell him the truth. I had no desire for the throne whatsoever. My father laughed so hard he began to cry.

"That's makes me a little sad, but it reminds me a lot of myself. I too never desired to become king." My father said, whipping the tears from his eyes. I didn't know how to respond to I just kept my mouth shut. My father was still smiling, but I felt as if something was weighing heavy on his heart. (I guess he's nervous about choosing his successor. (It must be hard to be a king.) I thought, hugging my father. It took him by surprise, but he hugged me back.

"I love you papa." I said in my cutest voice. It always made him happy when I called him "papa." I decided to cheer him up a little.
