Psionic Index Chart Or The First Counter-Attack Or Stay in Your Lane!

Planet: Tarsonis

Year:2524

Place: Confederate ??? Academy

0920 Psionics - PSI150 -TGA-A1111 - Over a week later

"Ok listen up kids, today we'll be reviewing the psionic index chart in-depth. I'll only be going over this once, so take proper notes and recordings because I won't ever explain this again." Said preceptor Suki, she leaned against her desk.

"First and foremost, every sentient being. Possesses psionic power. However, most sentient beings cannot utilize it or sense it. These beings fall under the psionic grade of 1, in rare cases, they can be born a 2. Baseline humans fall under these categories.

That being said, there's an exception. Most 2's cannot sense psionic power...Most. But a rare few can, now. Just because they can sense it, doesn't mean they can utilize it. And if they can, it's nothing notable.

Their ability to sense psionic energy is negligible at best and should be ignored unless their bodies have undergone significant modification.

Psionic grade 3, ok here is where things get murky. As of this moment, we've never come across any foreign psionic races. So, our psionic index chart is currently based around humans.

And humans with a psionic grade of 1 to 4 are incapable of telepathy, psionic sight...most psionic-based abilities. Don't ask, you'll learn about that later.

But long story short, psi grades 1-4 are limited to senses psionic and a slightly more advanced psionic speed. The only thing that changes between grades 1-4 is energy efficiency.

Now, at this point, you kids think that you're special. That all of you are the cream of the crop, after all. I mean, there are close to 6 billion humans living within this sector of space, less than 1% can manipulate psionic energy.

And of that 1%. around 35% are grade 5, while 30% reach grade 6. That's about 21 million grade 5's and around 18 million grade 6's. So yeah, you are elite... And judging by your face's you clearly think so too.

But remember, you're still human, and one well-placed bullet will kill you. If you need a demonstration, please step forward...No? No one. Good then let's start class."

"Um, madam Suki?" Said Rishul, with his hand high up in the air. "Where does telepathy fall on the scale? And what about telekinesis or--."

"Telepathy Is a basic ability known to all grades 5 and higher. Telekinesis is a rare ability, only available to grade 8 or higher. However, the higher your grade the more likely you are to have it. 8 is just the bare minimum. And as for those unique psionic abilities, nobody can truly say."

Bazir raised his hand yelling. "You never explained anything about grade 7 or high psionics miss."

"And for good reason. As some of you know, psionic grades were made to define the multiplicative leps in power between each grade. If you go to page 22 of your psionic for kiddies books. You'll see that grades 1-2 have a time 0.5 power difference.

2-3 is 1.0, 3-4 is 1.5, 4-5 is around 3. Now at this point, you are all thinking what the fuck. Why's the gap so massive? And the answer to your question is simple. Telepathy...telepathy is that multiplier. Now, is there a big difference between grade 4 and 5 psionic energy? Yes. But telepathy is the first, maybe only...yet biggest game-changing ability you'll all get. Remember kids, when you're in the field COMMUNICATION IS BROKEN!

6 is irrelevant and frankly. The difference between it and 5 is no difference between 1-2. Now for those of you at 7, You're in the grey zone. You're not good enough to break the next barrier, but are vastly better than the 5 and 6's.

On the bright side. As recruit Clark has shown, if you all work hard you can unlock some unique ability." Said Suki. Her smile calmed their nerves, her words...relief and hope.

"Now, the eights.

Turn to page 30. Where most of you will struggle to unlock an ability or two...so will they..to an extent. But they possess a much, MUCH! More potent telepathy. And can unlock telekinesis along with its lethal variants, pyro or cryo. Can you unlock its variants? If you're lucky, yes. Will it be as potent? No way in hell. If you're a candle, they're a flame thrower.

If the difference between 7 to 8, let's say, times 5 then the difference between 8 and 9 is times 10, maybe higher. And yet, because of their limited numbers, nobody has truly pined grade 9 to 8 power gap or limits.

What we can tell some of the 9's here. The barrier between 8 and 9 is even greater than between 4 and 5 or 7 and 8. But once more...we do not know why. 5 is when telepathy is unlocked. 8, is when telekinesis can be unlocked, and the power gap explodes. 9...we don't know.

And the tens...Rishul, and Sarah. Even less is known about grade 10.

Grade 10 was only discovered because of Sarah, then later Rishul." Said Suki, capping off her lecture.

The kid's eyes fell upon Rishul, who raised his head, proud at the fact he was one of two within 6 billion.

"But what about Caesar?" Asked Bryce. His question silenced the room while causing everybody to look back towards him.

"What about Caesar?" Asked Suki. She hoped the question would be irrelevant because of the few scientists within the observation deck above her back.

"Well, I heard preceptor Kalen and a few others label him a broken 10. And sometimes he has an aura about him, like Rishul or Sarah." Finished Bryce.

His words caused the scientist to scrunch their faces and glance down towards Suki. Who stood there saying nothing.

A few of the kids looked towards her psi-screener, hoping it would malfunction. So they could catch a glimpse at her thoughts.

Suki watched as those kids turned towards Caesar, nodding in agreement with Bryce's words. As one particular incident came to mind…

'That guard beating, a few months back...He lost control when they called him Octavian.' Thought Suki, reading their minds as clear as day. She glanced towards Caesar, who sat in class ignoring their gazes while he drew within his datapad.

'You're supposed to pay attention in class." Said Bryce. He was trying to get Caesar sent to solitary, like Sarah.

"We're allowed to do this. NGS keeps us swamped in work." Voiced Victoria. Unlike her domineering and articulate telepathic thoughts. Her words never came across as such.

Bryce and his big group looked to Rishul, whose head was down while he thought about something. 'Normally he's more outspoken about rules.'

"Enough." Suki's voice brought everything to a halt. "Victoria and Caesar have special expectations. As for your questions, Caesar was born a 10. But due to a special circumstance, Caesar is currently what we've dubbed a modified 5.7 or 5.8."

"Explain the auras, recruit--." Demanded one of the scientists over the pa.

"No." Said Suki, cutting the man off. "This is my class and you already have enough data surrounding their psionic aura. And you Bryce. If you have any issues with Caesar and Rishul, fight it out, or fuck off to one of the solitary cells."

"Sorry, mam." Said Bryce. Shrinking back in fear.

Suki stepped forward, speaking in her regularly calming voice. "That wasn't a request. Rishul, Bryce...get your ass to the front. As for the rest of you! I don't care if you dislike or hate each other. But if you turn my classroom into a political battlefield! then I'll break your twig bones and feed them to your friends. Now get your ass to the front!"

Bryce nodded, stepping before her, his eyes shifting back towards Rishul. 'Even after that, I don't matter to him.' Thought Bryce watching Rishul sit there, deep in thought. Behind the two, Bryce's group cheered him on. Giving him courage.

"Ready?" Said Suki, attracting everyone's attention.

The scientists looked to Rishul along with the classroom. Of the kids, only he and Cesar remained seated...trapped in their thoughts.

"I'm ready!" Yelled Bryce. Like many, he was long-sick Rishul and everything he stood for.

He raised his hands and did his best to copy Clark's previous display. Where Clark's was a tornado, his was just a thin blob coating his fist.

"Begin." Said Suki, returning to her desk.

"Get up! AND GET READY!!" Yelled Bryce. Now full of himself, thanks to the crowds cheering.

"Idiot." Said Suki and Caesar. Their words rang throughout the classroom, silencing the crowd. They all looked to Caesar as Rishul raised his fingers. "Combat rule one. If your opponents are not ready, don't tell them to get ready. Did this idiot not learn anything? Within the strategies portion, of strategies and combat class."

Mumbled Caesar. His voice was near inaudible, yet it rang firmly throughout the class.

Bryce's eyes widened, before falling squarely onto Rishul's enflamed fingers.

*Snap...KABOOM!*

"GET A MEDIC!!"
