Chapter 22: Blacklight(2)

Jack sighed and said, "Blacklight."

Darkness appeared around him in a radius of about one meter. Ade's fire whip coiled around his hand instantly disintegrated. The flame purification Julio had hit him with was nullified. All of his injuries were healed.

Jang-Uk's punch touched the Blacklight and appeared tired be mired in the darkness.

Jack landed on his feet with the darkness still surrounding him. He poked Jang-Uk's forehead with a finger, hit Ade in the chest with his palm and whipped a kick at Julio's head. He then exited the state of Blacklight.

Jang-Uk ended up with a finger sized hole in his brain. Ade's chest cavity was smashed in and his lungs collapsed. Julio's head ended up looking like mashed potatoes.

During Blacklight, it appeared that not only were his injuries healed. His speed and strength were also doubled. He was so fast that even Jagura couldn't see what happened.

Jagura frowned. He wondered how many times Jack could use Blacklight. He guessed it should be once because he could see Jack was very weakened after that attack.

Jagura took a step forward, "You killed my followers. You've given me no choice but to avenge them."

Jagura pulled out a machine gun from his weapon rack, "I'm going to be generous. How about you and that girl attack me together? Hmm?"

Jack scoffed loudly. He tried to not look weak, "You're just a cowardly piece of shit. You sent your minions to weaken me first. Now you want to use a gun to engage in a far range combat."

Jagura didn't seem offended at being called a coward, "Well you have to use what you have to get what you want. You're very dangerous at close range, so I think we'll be better friends at arms length."

He aimed his machine gun towards Jack and Vivian and unloaded a stream of bullets at them.

Vivian and Jack started moving at very fast speed to dodge the stream of bullets. Jack tried to close the distance between him and Jagura but Jagura wouldn't let him. Jack signaled Vivian to go in the opposite direction. His aim was for Jagura to only be able to focus on one person.

Jagura laughed out loud, "I can see what you're planning to do but it won't work."

Jagura used his powers to manipulate the direction of the bullets. He splt them into two directions, one third chasing after Vivian and the rest going hard after Jack.

A bullet grazed Jack's cheek, "I know who you are. You're Jagura, the metal pathway superhuman who defected from the Nicaorh government."

Jagura burst into a joyous laughter, "I'm honored that the someone as powerful as yourself knows my name."

Jagura turned his head towards Vivian who was evidently struggling more than Jack to dodge the bullets, "If you surrender, I'll take you in as my follower. You have a lot of potential and I can bring you to your full potential."

Vivian's rate of regeneration was not keeping up with the amount of bullets hitting her. She was finding it even strenuous to speak, "Why would I want to be your follower? You basically use them as canon folders."

Jagura chuckled, "It's an honour for them to be considered as canon fodders. Last chance, join me."

Jack saw an opening. Jagura had diverted his attention while talking to Vivian and reduced the streams of bullets coming to him by half. It appears to be a trap but he was desperate. He closed the distance between them and launched a very fast and powerful punch towards Jagura. Amidst his attack, he noticed Jagura giving him a sinister smile and saw him jumping onto his weapons rack.

Jagura used his powers to shoot every gun in his weapons rack without touching them. At some point in Jack's battle against his followers, he had positioned the guns in the weapon rack at appropriate positions to shoot any and everywhere. The guns had been placed in a way that he could shoot all around him.

All the space in front of Jack was suddenly filled with bullets. Without hesitation, he entered the state of Blacklight. The distance between him and the bullets was too close for him to dodge. The bullets hit the Blacklight and slowed down. Jack then used his hands to push the bullets aside and ran towards Jagura. He quickly dispelled Blacklight. Maintaining it longer than necessary would kill him. He stretched his hands towards Jagura's neck.

The piece of metal necklace on Jagura's neck suddenly broke into two equal parts and sliced off Jack's finger. Jagura manipulated the rings on his fingers into sharp thorns and punched Jack's stomach. He withdrew his hands and attempted to punch Jack's chest. Jack blocked it with his hands but the punch mangled both his hands.

Jack's blood was all over the place. Blood was also spilling from his guts. Jack despaired, he didn't want to die. He cleared his head, he still had one more card to play.

Suddenly, a beautiful woman appeared to have risen from the depths of the sea. The energy radiating from her was clearly that of a level 4. She roamed her eyes across the seashore and when she laid eyes on Jack, she screamed, "JACK!" Pure powerful energy radiated from her and sent Jagura tumbling into the sky.

Jagura was shocked and excited by the power that hit him. He picked himself up and ran away very fast. Only a fool would fight a Beta when you're just a low level superhuman.
