Chapter 23: Level Up

Fiona walked towards Jack. There was no difference between her and any other human. Her advancement to level 4 was a success.

Jack pointed at Ade's body, "Can you help me to bring that person? I didn't kill him, I only crippled him. I need to replenish my energy."

Fiona dragged Ade by his leg and pulled him along with her to Jack.

Jack opened his mouth wide and bit down on Ade's neck sucking his blood. He paused halfway and turned to Vivian, "Come over here, you also need to suck his blood to replenish your energy."

Vivian looked disgusted but still went forward. She knelt down beside Ade and bit down on the other side of his neck.

Jack lay his back on the sandy ground, "For vampires, the easiest way to replenish your energy to heal your injuries is by sucking the blood of a living person. I left him barely alive because I knew I was going to need to replenish my energy. The blood of a dead person won't work."

Jack proceeded to get up on his feet, "For a vampire to advance to the next level, you need to take the heart of either a superhuman or animal into a bottle and use your vampiric energy to refine it. For every advancement, it's best to use an opponent on the same level as yours."

Vivian wiped her mouth, "Are you saying every time I want to advance, I have to kill an opponent on the same level as myself and refine their blood?" She was surprised she didn't vomit from drinking another person's blood. It seemed like she was just drinking water.

Jack nodded his head, "I don't think I can advance immediately. I need to rest for a while."

He pointed at Julio's body, "That guy was at the peak of level 1. Bring his body here and I'll show how to refine it."

Vivian was surprised, "You're accepting me as your student."

Jack nodded, "I am a man of my words."

Vivian ran towards Julio's dead body and brought him to Jack.

Jack bent down and dug his right hand into Julio's chest and pulled his heart out. He placed the heart above a bottle that he held on his left hand and started to use his vampiric energy to corrode it. A thick black liquid flowed into the bottle. Jack covered the bottle and sealed it.

He gave the sealed bottle to Vivian, "For your other advancements, you'll need to do it yourself. It's best if the heart you're using to advance is still fresh. You have to use the liquid you made from the heart in a maximum of ten days. After ten days, don't attempt to use it to advance. It'll be useless by then."

He picked up the sealed bottle containing his own level up liquid, "Don't attempt to advance for now. You're not in peak condition."

Fiona asked, "Are we going to stay on this island?"

Jack looked at her, "Can I touch your skin? You look no different than any other woman."

Fiona chuckled happily, "Really? Anyway I'm hungry. We should stay in the outer circle of Bruchi Island for a few days."

Jack stared at her, "Apart from transforming into a human form, what other abilities have you developed?"

Fiona said while kicking her legs at the sand, "You know I can't tell you that."

Jack scrunched up his face in a fake anger, "But I thought we are friends. I almost died for you."

Fiona was not moved, "The only thing I can tell you is you were right. Advancing to level 4 from level 3 is a very big transition. I also gained the ability to manipulate the Electromagnetic energy around me. How do you know all these stiffs?"

Jack chuckled, "The Electromagnetic energy should be called Mojo by now all over the world. I told you I am a big shot in Aleppo. I know more about superhumans than a lot of people. Let's go into the outer city and look for an inn to stay in. Let's check these dead bodies and see if we can find money on them. I'm starving, I need to eat something good."

Vivian had doubts, "What of Jagura? Isn't he going to cause problems for us when we reach the outer city?"

Fiona smirked, "I'm pretty sure I scared him very well. If he's smart, he would run off the island and escape far away."

Jack patted Vivian on her shoulder, "You did very well killing that level 2. He underestimated you and he paid the price. I see you learnt a lot from fighting Carol. You're a fast learner. I have a lot to teach you, I hope you can master them very fast."

The three of them started to climb up the shores of Bruchi Island and go into its outer city.
