Game Of Thrones : Merchant of Two Worlds

Jason Liu, an ordinary man who unexpectedly gains the ability to travel through time and space, finds himself able to journey between modern-day Earth and the world of Game of Thrones. With this unique power, he begins to transport supplies between the two realms, introducing the cheap commodities of the modern world to Westeros while bringing back raw materials to Earth. As trade flourishes, Jason’s ventures cause an unprecedented economic boom in both worlds, drastically increasing their GDPs. However, as he amasses wealth and power through his monopoly over this interdimensional trade, Jason's ambitions grow. No longer content with merely being a smuggler between two worlds, he sets his sights on Westeros itself, determined to carve out his place amid the chaos and power struggles that define the realm.

47. The Scent of Soap and Secrets

Medicine is also something maesters must know well since they often act as doctors for the lord's family.

In response, Jason Liu took out a bottle of penicillin, sterile water for injection, and a syringe.

I briefly explained how we treated little Lillian. Robb and the others were shocked—they had never heard of such a thing before, where medicine is injected into the body with a needle.

Even Boris was hearing about this for the first time.

He wanted to discuss more about the medicine used in both Westeros and the Zena Empire, but Arya interrupted impatiently.

"Master Jason, I want to buy some soap for bathing. Do you have any left?" Arya asked eagerly, blinking at him.

Sansa and Jenny had the same hopeful look in their eyes.

"Uh, yes, of course!" Jason said, his smile twitching slightly. He found it amusing that these noble ladies had been using soap meant for washing clothes. "Actually, I brought some special soap from my homeland. It's much better—perfect for washing hands, faces, and bathing!"

"Soap?" Arya asked, confused, repeating the unfamiliar word.

Sansa chimed in, her curiosity piqued. "You mean this fragrant... soap is better than what we already have?"

"Yes," Jason Liu nodded and asked Lena to fetch a few boxes of the soap from the counter.

Martha, after laying the now-sleeping Lillian back in bed, helped Venissa draw some water in several plastic basins that Jason had brought from modern times.

Jason preferred plastic over wooden basins because wooden ones would leave bits of sawdust in the water. So he had bought more than ten colorful plastic ones, which Lena and the others liked a lot.

Sansa and Arya quickly unpacked the soap, which was bright white.

"It smells so good!" Jenny exclaimed.

Arya inhaled deeply, her face lighting up with the scent. "No wonder Mr. Jason said it's better. This smells way stronger!"

"Hmm, this one smells like roses!" Sansa said happily, holding the bar of soap as if it were a treasure.

"Roses?" Jason Liu thought to himself, amused. The soap had cost only about 50 cents. There wasn't any real rose scent—just strong industrial fragrances!

"Mine smells like lilies!" Arya added with excitement.

Jenny sniffed her soap and declared, "This one must smell like wild chrysanthemum. I remember seeing wild chrysanthemum being sold in Bidong Market, and it smells just like this!"

Bran, not even looking up from fiddling with his soap, said, "Then mine must smell like roses. I saw roses growing near the old tower."

Robb sniffed his soap and, confused, said, "Why do I think mine smells like jasmine?"

Curious, Robb looked at Jason and asked, "Master Jason, do these soaps come in different scents? My mother loves tulips from Riverrun's garden. Do you have any tulip-scented soap?"

Hearing everyone talking about different flower scents, Jason Liu felt a bit bewildered. How could they all smell so many flowers in cheap soap?

Of course, he couldn't ask that out loud. So instead, he kept his mysterious smile and said, "This soap is made with a blend of dozens of flowers and goes through a special process using advanced techniques. That's why it's of such high quality!"

He had to embellish the truth, making the soap sound like a luxury item that only nobles could afford.

Robb seemed impressed. "So, do you have tulip-scented soap, too?"

Jason's smile froze slightly, but he quickly recovered. "Tulips? Well, you see, I'm not personally involved in the details of production. It's impossible to know every small aspect."

Robb nodded in understanding. "Oh, right. Just like my father, you must be too busy with important matters to worry about such things."

Jason silently sighed with relief. Robb was a quick thinker!

As Jason dealt with Robb's question, Sansa, Arya, and Jenny had already started washing their hands with the soap.

The fragrance lingered long after they finished washing, and the girls seemed very pleased.

Girls love anything that smells nice!

What? You're saying some girls like stinky tofu, which smells awful?

Well, maybe... but usually, people who live alone like that kind of thing.

Does stinky tofu stink? No way! It just has a "special" scent.

Even if it makes you gag, it's still kind off fragrant!

"Hey, what's this picture on the bottom of the blue basin?" Bran suddenly asked, chewing on a cookie. He pointed at an animal design and shouted excitedly, "It looks like a Mormont bear!"
