Chapter 2-Emerald And A Stranger

"Well, you see... We shouldn't talk here."

As Abel and Vite lead the stranger past the crowd of chattering people they came upon a maroon house that looked like two maroon red boulders stacked. With open square windows.

"This is our home... You are welcome to it anytime."

As Abel and Vite take the stranger into the home, they gently sat him down onto a black leaf-like place. The stranger felt his body aching and grumbling.

"Vite and I will prepare you some food."

Soon enough Abel and Vite began making food while the stranger looked around and watched.

"So as I was saying earlier... You asked why the others are scared of you, is that right?"

"Yeah... But honestly, I'm worried, I mean I don't even know my name or where I came from. I just don't remember anything."

"Then before we touch on that topic, would you like to know more about my race?"

"It would be helpful since I don't know much about you guys."

"Well allow me to explain, you are currently on the planet known as Ikozen. Ikozen was named by our ancestors long ago. We are known as Mokuzen's we are tiny and some are a bit tall. We cannot grow muscle so we cannot get stronger. As I said before we can't do anything strength required, that's because of the way we were created. We Mokuzen's however were created by demons..."

A sweatdrop appeared on the stranger's face as he smirked. Because he believed Abel was joking.

"Demons huh? What kind of demons?"

"They go by man names and many forms. However, those forms are that of gemstones and their race is now extinct. But we still worship them to this day. Because they are the ones who created us."

"Gemstones, huh? Interesting. It's a shame they're "extinct" I would've loved to meet one."

The stranger still believed Abel was joking, however, that didn't seem to be the case.

"Don't worry we thought you might not believe us. Which is what brings me to the next point... Better yet, the reason everyone is scared of you."

The stranger's smile dropped as Abel stirred a black rock that acted as a pot.

"The Mokuzen's do and will always worship the gemstone demons. Even though we've never seen one before. However upon your arrival, your crash landing drew a lot of attention as most of our people surrounded you, you were burned almost to a crisp. However, your chest was glowing green and suddenly. You started roaring and screaming. The roar sent shivers down everyone's bodies, that wasn't all. Within seconds while you were still on fire you slaughtered a few of our people. You were a monster, slashing, and biting those around you. However, you only managed to kill three of us before passing out completely..."

The room was filled with silence as the stranger felt dizzy and sick.

"I-I killed some of you... I roared...? W-What does this mean?!"

"I don't know... Honestly, I was hoping when you woke up, you'd explain it to us all as well. But you didn't wake up for a mozen and soon enough everyone forgot about you and the incident. But now that you appeared before them, they remembered it all. Worried they might be next."

Suddenly the green fire that was being used to cook the food was doused and Abel quickly poured three rock-like bowls full of a purple soup that bubbled from heat.

"But it doesn't matter, you don't seem like the beast that murder those individuals. You don't seem like someone who'd kill at all. So I ask you this, are you willing to start anew? Will you take a name you wish to have and make a life you wish to live?"

Abel holds out the rock bowl with the soup and waits for the stranger's answer.

"I-I..."

"It's a hard choice, I understand that. But do you really want to struggle to remember such a past If it was so easily forgotten?"

The stranger's eyes opened as he realized the words Abel said. Then instantly the stranger snatched the rock bowl from Abel's hand and began chugging the hot soup. Within seconds he was done.

"I see you've made your choice."

"That wasn't bad, mind if I have so more?"

"Gladly!"

Abel quickly takes the bowl from the stranger and goes to fill it again.

"So I know it might take a while, but do you have any ideas for a name?"

Abel hands the rock bowl back to the stranger as he chugs it once again. Once it's gone and he frees his lips. He smirks.

"Sabi, my name is Sabi."

"Sabi... Sabi... Oh! I see Sabi from the flower Sabinito! But why Sabi?"

"Well, I was thinking, if I lost half of who I am. Then Sabinito would be perfect if I cut it in half. To match me. I am part of a healing flower."

"So you chose it because you feel like you relate to the Sabinito?"

"Exactly. If you removed half of the word from the full one then you would end up like me. Healing from wounds, healing wounds."

"That's honestly clever... Then Sabi."

Abel hands him another bowl.

"Let's make you a new life!"

"To a new life."

Sabi smiled as he grabbed the bowl from Abel. Time passed and nighttime came. The only light emitted was the green from the fires from the inside of the houses. There was no moon or stars in the dark sky.

"Say, Abel, what's it like at night time?"

"Well, it's actually quite dangerous. Which is why we all stay inside with our fires."

"What makes it so dangerous?"

"Well, you see at night beasts come out from below, some more vicious than others. Along with that, we have many poisonous things on this planet, and one wrong move could be the end."

"That dangerous?"

"Yes, extremely. The beasts that come out at night all vary from eye color. Green is the weakest, blue is strong, however red is beyond dangerous. They are the rarest, however. Which is good because if more were to exist that would be the extinction of the Mokuz-."

Suddenly a scream could be heard from outside.

"What was that?!"

Sabi quickly got up and looked out the upper floor square window. Looking around quickly in the dark area. Luckily the green fires from the houses lit it up a bit for him to see. As he searched he finally came across a female Mokuzen. She was pinned down by a beast that came out at night. Sabi quickly searched for its eyes and found himself shaking.

"Abel... I thought you said they were rare."

"T-They are! B-But why Is it here!"

The red-eye beasts were the apex predators of the chain. It could kill everything except the Ikozen's sea beast.

"W-We have to do something! Sabi!"

"I-I know!"

Sabi's wildly long spikey hair shifted blocking his eyes. As his body which was slightly more colorful shook.

"I-I have to..."

Abel looked at Sabi.

"I have to save her!"
