[Bonus chapter] A Deal with the Devil

Cynthia's eyes were on Sally's shivering bones, she tried her best not to allow even one ounce of sympathy to reach her heart. She was not the soft Cynthia anymore, she was a revenge goddess sent from hell to take back everything her ex-husband and ex-friend took from her or tried to.

Plus, she needed to keep her body calm and healthy for her little revenge, he was going to come out and meet her soon now, and he needed to see a healthy and strong mommy.

Cynthia took a deep breath to calm herself some more before she remembered that this woman sitting across from her is her enemy.

She glared at her with all the pain she felt when she first learned of Sally's betrayal.

"It's simple. file for divorce,"

Sally's mouth fell open, she could not believe her own ears.

"A-a divorce?" Sally squealed.

"What's so strange about a divorce? I was married for much longer and I got a divorce, look at me, all engaged now,"

Sally felt a different chill run up and down her spine, but it was a different one than the bone shivering sensations she was getting earlier on, there was something about the empty look inside of Cynthia's face that bothered Sally on a different level.

It was as if Cynthia was really possessed by something.

"I-I just got married to him, and we have a daughter together now…" her voice was very low.

Cynthia bit her tongue, she almost spoke out loud but managed to restrain herself at the very last minute. In fact, Cynthia had many things to say about Sally's daughter and her role in all of this, but that was another bomb for another day.

She straightened her back and opted for her businesswoman mood.

"I only talked about the condition of the deal, you were always a terrible listener, honestly…" she smiled condescendingly, "The deal is as follows… you file for a divorce, and I guarantee a comfortable life for you and your daughter in a place far from here for so long as you shall both live,"

Sally gulped down the heart that she felt was in her throat now.

"A-and if I don't?"

Cynthia's eyes shone with hate, "Oh? Why on earth wouldn't you accept my generous offer now?"

'The gold digger that you are,' Cynthia added silently inside of her head.

"Please," Sally looked down at the empty table between the two, "May I have some water?" Sally's voice shivered.

If anyone came inside the room where the two women sat now and had no idea about the original story, they would easily blame a heartless Cynthia for the pain she was causing to the other woman's heart.

Sally looked and sounded pathetic.

"Nanny, water," Cynthia's voice was as cold as ice. Even a drop of water is a waste inside the throat of the woman who destroyed her marriage. But Cynthia was raised like a princess, and her manners won over her disgust.

Cynthia was surprised when a maid came inside with a small plastic bottle on a tray, she glanced back at her nanny who looked bemused. And despite all of Cynthia's anger and pain, a smile played on her lips.

It was her nanny's small act of revenge, she did not deem Sally worthy of having a glass to drink her water from.

'I'm being a good influence on the nanny,' she thought to herself and smiled widely at the maid who placed the plastic bottle in front of the homewrecker.

Sally opened the bottle with a shaking hand and took a small sip, much of the water got splashed all over her white blouse.

"O-oh, excuse me," Sally mumbled as she opened her bag, took a napkin out, and started drying herself.

Cynthia's smile was gone. "Excuse you? For what exactly?"

The words left Cynthia's mouth before she was able to contain them. She could not believe her own feelings. She could not believe that after all these months of planning, she was still expecting an apology from Sally.

Cynthia was outraged with herself.

What good would an apology do? Did her ex-best friend even have the face for that? Those were some of the questions that were left unanswered in her brain.

"Incredible," Cynthia said, too low for anyone else around her to hear. "I don't expect to hear an answer from you immediately, you have three days to think things through. But know this, it is a one time deal, if you refuse it, then I would not offer it back at a later time,"

'When you come beg me for it,' Cynthia added to herself.

"You haven't answered my question yet, what happens if I refused the deal you are offering me?" Sally said stubbornly.

Cynthia's smile was wide. "Oh? A girl has got to keep a secret or two.. You are an expert at keeping secrets, right? So I'm sure you understand."

She gave her a meaningful look that said, 'it's your funeral.'

Cynthia could not believe that her ex-best friend would even dare to ask that question! What did she expect to happen? Did she think she was going to sail to the sunset for her happily ever after with her new husband and child?

Cynthia knew that her ex-best friend was stupid, but she had no idea that she was delusional.

She also could not believe what happened next.

Sally's shivering hands grabbed the plastic bottle and crumpled it loudly then sent it flying through the room.

"I LOVE HIM! OKAY? I LOVE MY HUSBAND, YOU HAD HIM ONCE BUT YOU LOST HIM! YOU DIDN'T EVEN CARE ENOUGH TO FIGHT ME FOR HIM OR EVEN SHARE HIM! YOU JUST SIMPLY FILED FOR DIVORCE AND TOOK THIS PLACE AND THE CARS AND THE MATERIAL STUFF AND PUSHED HIM OUT OF YOUR LIFE! WHILE I WAS THE ONE TO WAIT UP FOR HIM EVERY NIGHT, I WAS THE ONE TO CARE FOR HIM AND TRY TO HEAL THE WOUNDS THAT YOUR NEGLECT LEFT INSIDE OF HIM!"

Sally stopped when she ran out of breath, she felt like she was about to pass out at any second now. Her breathing was shallow, her lips and feet were numb, and her hands were ice cold.

"Get out of my house," Cynthia spoke in a low voice.

"YOU DON'T HAVE TO TELL ME, I WAS GOING TO GET OUT ANYHOW," Sally screamed some more.

"The deal is off," Cynthia added in the same low voice.

"A deal? That was a deal with the devil! This is what you became, you hear me?"

Sally picked up her purse and bolted out of the room, Cynthia listened to Sally's angry footsteps until she left her mansion completely.

Nanny ran to Cynthia's side.

"Get out," Cynthia said monotonously.

Nanny and every other servant left the room.

Ugh... Let me know what you think in the comments ladies!
