Maybe it isn't as bad as we think...' Just when this thought appeared within Rebecca's mind, a voice suddenly pulled her attention.
"My lady, I have brought the Emperor's children like you have instructed."
Shifting in the direction of the voice, Rebecca saw a guard approaching with three boys behind him. Even without asking she could tell from their appearance that they were Razor's sons.
The guard stopped about two meters away from her, causing a crease to form on her face, as she felt something was amiss. However, before she could address her suspicion, the eldest among the three boys suddenly approached her.
"Greetings, my lady!" he knelt on one knee, a display deserving of one of noble blood.
Rebecca looked at him calmly. She couldn't help but feel a bit complicated when she saw the boy who was just a few years above her youngest bow before her with a reverent look. To think that his father was the harbinger of the doom that was about to befall their world. It had only been about a decade since she had clashed with the legions of corruption, yet to think that the peace they had strived to achieve would be broken so soon...
Releasing a sigh, she stretched out her hand to the young boy, "Grab my hand!"
The boy did as instructed.
"Now, release your law essence."
Seeing no change in the boy's expression, Rebecca sighed in relief but not even a second later her expression suddenly turned stone cold.
Instead of the dark-green essence of the poison attribute, what enveloped Rebecca's hand was a dark energy filled with thick and potent evil essence.
The evil energy quickly crawled along her arm and tried to engulf her body. Some had already bore into her body and tried to corrupt her essence.
"Humph!" The main hall suddenly flashed with a piercing purple light that illuminated the ghastly look on the faces of the more than forty figures in the hall, as they gazed at the scene in front of them with pure horror.
Purple lightning crackled along Rebecca's body, destroying the evil energy around her in a split second. In the next moment, one of the purple arcs on her body snaked across her body and passed through her hand to the smaller hand in her grasp. She watched with cold eyes as the hand in her grasp was instantly incinerated before the body soon followed after. Soon after, the smell of burnt flesh drifted slightly within the hall, serving as the only reminder of the young figure that had been in the place of the now-black ashes on the ground.
Rebecca closed her eyes for a moment as she remembered the expression on the face of the young boy even as death drew near him.
Serenity and Loyalty!
To a figure he had never even seen before...
She was reminded of how hallowing and chill-inducing the powers and abilities of the Lord of corruption were.
All these thoughts passed through her mind in less than a second before she opened her eyes. Within that short time, the people in the hall seemed to still be shocked by what they had just witnessed. Some of them couldn't even process what had just happened.
No...they refused to believe what they had just witnessed, as they knew the meaning behind its significance.
Chaos, Pandemonium, and death.
Rebecca ignored the frozen people around her with fear-filled looks on their faces, those who had fallen on their rear in fear as they shook their heads in denial as they muttered "No no...", and finally Dave who stood behind her in a stupor.
Looking at the remaining two sons of Emperor Razor, she took a step closer and spoke, her voice now a pitch lower than before.
"You next! Give me your hand!"
The youngest among Razor's sons who looked only a year older than her youngest Ella, seemed to be terrified by the sudden death of his brother. He seemed to not be able to understand why the beautiful figure before him had suddenly killed his brother, but Rebecca didn't care.
"Your hand!" She called once more, her cold eyes causing him to tremble in fear. Not daring to disobey her any longer, the boy moved his trembling hand slowly, but Rebecca quickly caught hold of it.
"Release your essence!" She commanded once again.
The boy did as he was told as he willed the mana in his core and used it as a medium to connect to one of the myriad laws around him.
Soon a dark green essence burst out of his body, and it wasn't until after Rebecca saw it that her cold eyes softened slightly.
Seeing the boy still trembling in fear as he looked at her with fear-filled eyes, Rebecca spoke:
"It's okay. I won't hurt you."
As if sensing the sincerity in her gaze, the boy fell to his knees, and soon after a warm liquid filled his crotch area, causing an unpleasant smell to permeate the hall. However, Rebecca didn't seem to mind as she tried to wrest her hand gently from the hand of the boy who had now broken into tears before her. She didn't have the time nor mind to soothe him, as she felt a great rock pressing on her chest.
However, to her surprise, she couldn't release her hand from his grip as the boy held onto her tightly.
Just when a displeased look started growing on her face, something unexpected suddenly happened.
The last born who had been standing with a scared look on his face suddenly sprung forward and appeared before her instantly, a dark energy from which came the wails of ghosts covering his body.
"Humph!" Before the boy could even throw his clenched fist in an attack, Rebecca's will fell like a mountain on his body, and before he knew it, his body was turned into meat paste on the ground.
But despite achieving such a result, the look on Rebecca's face wasn't happy or satisfied, instead, it was a bit pale.
In the same moment that the boy had appeared before her, six figures suddenly launched out from the still shell-shocked people around her. Rebecca identified them to be among the ten remaining figures she had yet to check.
Her face went pale when she felt her worst fear come true. Not only were Emperor Razor's sons corrupted, but even many more seemed to have suffered the same fate.
The six figures closed the distance to her and launched varying attacks from all directions.
Massive roots coated with evil energy erupted from the floor of the hall, before streaking towards her. Stone spears, arrows, and swords covered by the same harrowing evil energy were launched towards her at great speed.
Seeing that some of the attacks were directed towards the small boy still holding her hand in fear, Rebecca pulled him close into her embrace with her hand, before stretching her other hand forward. She felt the hand of the boy in her embrace grab her back tightly but she didn't put much thought into it, as she pulled her raised hand down.
"Fall!"
*Rumble!*
The roof of the main hall exploded into tiny debris, as purple lightning fell from the sky and incinerated all the attacks launched at her, before devouring the attacks soon after.
It must be known that unlike the previous sons of Emperor Razor who had attacked her, the six figures who had just surrounded her wielded powers similar to that of the vampire Lords. Yet it had taken only an instant for Rebecca to send them to Lord Yama, without giving them time to display their full strength.
However, once again instead of feeling happy, what Rebecca felt was deep horror as she suddenly looked at the small boy in her embrace.
Unlike before, the boy wasn't looking at her with scared eyes instead his now icy-cold eyes shone with a cunning light.
"You..."
That was the only word Rebecca was able to say before the small-sized formation that had been formed on her back activated and before she knew it she was forcefully teleported away.
The whole palace was in shambles from the brief but terrifying confrontation that had taken place. But in one of the corners of the destroyed palace, the eyes of the guard who had brought the beast Emperor's sons shone with a vicious light, and a sinister smile planted on his face.
