Chapter 1Family

It was the aftermath of a war, in a city affected by the war, a teen around 17 years old looked at the lifeless bodies that lay all around him. It was sudden and they were given zero chances to flee the village, the young boy was lucky to survive, as he hid.

But although he hid, he heard everything, the cries of his family, his father's cries as he was beheaded, his ill mother's cries as she was set on a fire, the cries of his beautiful next-door neighbor being raped by a group of men before being killed. It was something out of a nightmare, the cruelty of war, the ruthlessness of soldiers. Even if they were citizens, the soldiers acted without care for human rights...

Within a bed, a kid around 3 years old suddenly had his eyes burst open. He lay in bed, sweat covering his forehead at that nightmare. He sat up, unable to rest while holding his head. How could he be calm after regaining memory from his past life... and it started with the worst part of it.

'I'm in the Fairy Tail world... not bad.'He thought removing some tears trying to forget the past, before shaking and remembering how he died. He had died the same way his mother died, burnt alive to the sick twisted pleasure of those soldiers.

Feeling sick, he looked towards the other side of the bed, where his twin brother slept. He smiled lightly, this was his brother Natsu. They also had an elder brother, who had a bit of a brother complex. he had a loving and goofy father and a caring, loving mother who at times could be scary.

So yeah, he held on to this new family as a way to escape from his old family... but he quickly remembered that this family would be killed by a dragon. This caused him to instantly shoot to his feet, how was he going to stop a dragon? They had to flee, but how was a kid going to get everyone to flee?

(First person POV)

'That's right, the phoenix.' I thought my eyes widened. It was hard to remember, but after my death, I found myself standing before a phoenix, the last of his kind who wanted to pass its magic onto me before it breathed its last.

I of course accepted, although the phoenix didn't tell me much. But now that I remembered that, there were no records of phoenixes in this world... well, there were, but no one has ever seen them. it's as if they had all died out. and I was given the inheritance of the Phoenix race.

I held out my palms, focusing everything I had to try and channel some flames out. I gritted my teeth, pushing everything I had into this, and to my joy a small weak flame the size of a fly appeared in between my hands. But as soon as I lost focus, the flame disappeared, which left me disappointed.

'Do I have Fire Phoenix Slayer Magic?' I thought with bright eyes, this was my chance to protect what I held dear to me. I was of course not going to slack off. I ran out of the room, being careful not to wake anyone up.

I went to the firewood, where I painfully went on to start a fire. it took some time, but soon a fire was started. I was slightly uneasy, but I opened my mouth and tried to eat the flames. To my shock, the flame was sucked into my mouth, fueling me with power.

With a grin, I went on to start training. When I ran low on magical energy, I went on to eat fire to restore the lost energy. The night quickly went by like this, I only stopped when I heard someone was up. I quickly hid everything I was doing, leaving behind zero proof while quickly running outside, and jumping through the window to my room, where I went on to remove my clothing, I replaced them with a new pair of clothing. After ensuring I was all clean, I jumped in bed and acted as if I was asleep.

There was going to be some smell of smoke, I expected someone to come into my room, to see if one of us was missing. As expected, my mother opened the door, and walked over to the bed,

she closely smelled me, before standing still for a moment. She ignored Natsu, knowing he loved sleep. She left and closed the door behind her. I didn't move, as I didn't hear any footsteps outside, which meant that she might be inside, waiting for me to show I was awake.

Sweat covered my forehead, as I felt the gaze locked on me. I didn't know what to do, but the luck was on my side, as Natsu who couldn't keep still while sleeping suddenly kicked me, sending me falling off the bed. I cried in pain, before angrily getting up and slapping Natsu with the pillow.

Natsu was snapped awake by this, and after a moment of confusion quickly exploded in rage while he shot to his feet

"The hell is wrong with you," Natsu said angrily

"Learn to keep your legs to yourself," I said with a sneer, Natsu being short-tempered jumped on me. We quickly began to start rolling around, but we instantly paused as a cough brought us back to reality. We both looked over and saw a beautiful woman with black hair looking at us.

She held out her palm, using her shadow magic to control our shadows, which pulled us apart. her attention was mostly on me, waiting for me to slip up, but I avoided eye contact by simply looking at the ground, leaving her helpless as she in the end gave up.

"Go get ready, today Zeref is going off to study. We will see him off." She said with a sigh while leaving, the shadows holding us dropped us, and we landed smoothly on our feet. We quickly went to take a bath, where I ignored Natsu who was busy trying to get me to play with him. Instead, I went over the magic in my head.

Fire Phoenix Slayer magic, there were many spells I could use from this, with the highest spells allowing me to come back from death, and go through rebirth. Fire Phoenix Slayer magic was mainly around the use of flames to fight, heal, purify, and for movement.

I could devour other flames, but there was a warning not to overdo it if I had yet to train my body. Like how Dragon Slayer Magic trains the body, making it stronger than other wizards, Phoenix Slayer magic also trains the body, turning one's body into that of a phoenix in a human form.

'It would almost be like I ate the phoenix devil fruit.' I thought remembering another anime I watched in my past life. I would train my body to the point where I'm immune to most attacks, even magic infuse attacks wouldn't be able to affect me, since I would be living fire.

But I needed to train myself to reach that, and once I do... taking a shower would suck. but anything to gain the power to protect those dear to me.

"What do you think the wizard academy is like?" Natsu asked snapping me back to reality. There were no such things as guilds in this era, instead, there were academies where those old enough could enter to go learn.

"I don't know, ask Zeref when he comes back to visit," I said while getting up, to which Natsu quickly followed. We quickly got dressed, and although there was almost a fight over whose clothing was whose, I being the bigger person let Natsu win before we went to see everyone else.

"Alright, everyone is here." Our father, a pink-haired man said with a smile while holding a cake. Zeref smiled lightly while coming over to Natsu and my side, where he held us tightly.

"I will not be gone for long, I will make sure to come back when I can," Zeref said with a bright smile, to which Natsu couldn't control himself and burst out crying. I on the other hand felt like also crying, but I wasn't the 3-year-old, so I put myself together.

"You 3 had months to be together," My mother said with a gentle smile, this was her family, although at times she did feel jealous that her kids loved each other more than they loved her, but that only meant that they were close.

It was a small party, but a great one that left me sure that I would protect this family, I had a second chance to protect something dear to me... so I would hold on, even if It kills me.

[SPOILERS] Just didn't feel like checking the box. [IMO Warning!!!] This just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt. It'd be easier to just read it and develop an opinion on it yourself. [RANT START] So... it ain't great. It started out weird and then just got bad later. Not because of this "hE ShOws MErcY tO THe EnEMy boo hoo..." nonsense. Everyone is different. He wants to show remorse over murder? That is fine. After all, I think one thing this story did well until later on was Ryu's character development. I say that cause now he just isn't interesting. God like MC's never are. No... The problem I got with this is it just feels like a beginning and an end was planned, but everything in between wasn't. Maybe certain events were. Perhaps it was just the pacing, but nothing connected. Everything was too messy. Evident by the amount of times the author had to leave notes, explaining things. Even if the explanations didn't help and sometimes just made things wore. Don't even get me started on the "Phoenix Slayer" stuff. One minute he can do this, the next he can't do that for some nonsensical reason. It was too inconsistent. I was not liking how notes would pop up. (Oh just so you know, he can't do "this" anymore.) Instant eye roll, bro. Now the characters. I could not even force myself to care about the other characters beside Ryu and Irene. The best part about this story is, no doubt, Ryu x Irene. Speaking of... I don't know if it was like this for others, but for me, Ryu getting together with "Erza" just wasn't a good idea. I didn't sit through all that development, waiting for him and Irene to get together just for you to to put him with someone he had so very little development with shown. Someone with so little of a presence to the story. Someone I wouldn't have cared for if she had been killed off in that group of people that did. Well, anyway. In conclusion... It's a decent read up until the chapter where he gets killed by the gods. To me. Like I said, because of how its written, I didn't care for anyone but Ryu and Irene. Unfortunately, one dies. The other does too before coming back to become SCP 001: The Scarlet King, and marries a side character. Some things, I just did not come to read this story for. [END]
