"Mom, I'm going off! Brett and Sai are here," Jack shouted through the stairs, wearing his waterproof shoes and jacket. Before grabbing the doorknob, he snatched the luggage from his messy bedroom. With a scraggy stance, he stumbled.
"Take care, honey. Have a good vacation," Haze said to her sweet child. At first, she was against it, but Jack's father (Kai) knew her wife well, being able to coax her in a day.
He giggled, seeing Haze letting their boy travel.
Ever since the people of earth awakened, she acted like an elephant. But seeing her accept, he couldn't get the silly grin off his face.
But Jack had a chumming feeling in his heart. His face looked like a guilty dog. He had lied, saying he was going on vacation, but in reality, he had deeper plans. He needed to gain control over his ability: he didn't want to go on a rampage again.

The door shut open with Jack's command: The oblivious light blinded his dark brown eyes showing off the mole underneath his left eye. His chestnut hair waved to the air conditioner.
He dragged down his mukbang youtuber of a bag approaching the silver elevator right in the middle of the floor.
"Floor 5"
A robotic voice said, opening the elevator gates. Jack entered, pressing on level 1.
"Tell me a reason. Let me a reason."
"Every time I look in."
"Everything in between."
"Nobodies surpass when I fell asleep. My eyes got heavier, and my brain hit like a meteor. I asked why. I asked why,"
The elevator music kicked in, and Jack couldn't help but tap his foot. He had been obsessed with this song since it was released. And most people would agree; the single was incredibly catchy and singable that every teenager lip-synced to.
The elevator shook before opening the door.
"Floor 1," The robotic voice once spoke.
Jack stretched his knuckles and ankles. His feet were sore from the lack of sleep he had prepared for this the entire night, in both body and plan. Thankfully Snake had a license, though being shorter; he was 2 years older than them. The experience was something Jack and Sai did not have.
As they had newly gotten their licenses. And Brett did not have one, making Snake the best choice.
"Good day!" The security said, waving at Jack.
"Good morning." Jack waved back before exiting the apartment complex.
…
A black van dwarfed Jack's figure. The group had leaned over at the car, scrolling through youtube to pass the time. Brett looked over from his phone before getting absorbed back in. Jack sighed, realizing how addicted he was.
"Hi guys, did we ready up?" Jack asked with an everyday greeting, trying to whisk away suspicion. Sai examined the parking lot before nodding. Jack scratched his eyes with a disappointed face.
Snake put his hand over Sai's head before replying, "Yeah, I got your favorite type of cookie. And the luggage is ready. You can put yours in the back." He pointed at the backseat of the car and added, "I paid for gas if you needed to know."
The group could feel the stares drifting their eyes away, making them wash over with relief.
Jack placed his backpack to the back before hopping into the brown seat at the front. Red neon lights were lighting up the car's inside. Sai closed the open window before they all fell into laughter.
"Holy shit, we almost got caught!"
Jack reminded them of the cop waiting in the car for any chance of an arrest. The police crew had been rummaging through everything as the crime rates had expended like a cyber coin.
"Why are you laughing? We could have got arrested," Snake wiped away the tear in his eyes. He turned to Sai, that had started the laughing track.
"Sai, what the hell was that?" Brett asked, curious about the spy movie-type scouting.
Sai stood speechless, tanking all the jokes his friend shouted at him. He tapped his fingers on the floor, emerging silence in the car. Jack leaned over and muttered, "How many were we able to get?"
"We got ten knives, two katanas from my dad's collection, and an Axe." Brett rolled his eyes and continued, "Shouldn't we report this to the authorities? This is a huge deal, and how did you even learn about it?"
Jack grimaced, flicking his arms, "They already know, I'm sure. Animals becoming monsters can't be kept away for long. So I wanted to explore the restricted areas before the mayhem."
Sai fumbled his finger, confused as to how they convinced him to come. They looked too calm compared to him because Sai could taint his pants any minute. Jack was smiling, Brett looked bored, and Snake came to record.
"Why the hell are you so fine with this? We're about to fight damn monsters. You've all seen the picture! That isn't no photoshop!"
Sai rambled on, crooking about his insecurities. Unlike them, Sai was terrible at adapting, which the others were masters off. If this had been a horror movie, he would die in the first half, while they would survive till the end.
Brett's face was full of horror, looking at his phone.
"NO SIGNAL!" He shouted, his calm face disappearing. Snake ignored his remark while Jack navigated him with a map.
"It is misty here, that's why. Also, we might be late, as the road is quite busy." Snake said, not leaving his eyes from the road, "So suck it up. Or go to sleep would be the best choice."
After Snake's statement, silence buried the car in an envelope. The rare sounds were the cracking of metal coming from the baggage and Jack telling Snake the way to go. It was pure silence, and Brett could feel his eyes becoming weaker.
Brett felt his eyes become weaker, despite the obnoxious cheers of cars.
The honks deafened the heart and ringed, but Brett found it relaxing, something he rarely ever felt. There was a weird charm about the place, and Brett enjoyed it.
His eyes gave in and went to fantasyland. The joyous world where you yearn for fun.
