Esme pushed herself to her feet and turned around, ''Why are you here?" Her brows tugged together.
''You don't seem too pleased to see me,'' Cardan remarked as he stepped towards her.
Esme did not say anything but a gasp escaped her mouth when a dagger slashed through her skin.
Blood dripped from her hand and Cardan grabbed her wrist, ''Look at this,'' he dropped the dagger in his hand and stroked her hand, taking the blood on his finger before he placed his finger inside his mouth, ''Ah, so sweet and refreshing. Which part of you is not precious?''
He looked at her with what looked like undisguised greed.
''This part,'' she stabbed his neck.
