Chapter 27

Dionne woke up with a thumping headache in her bedroom. She clutched her head in pain as she tried to sit up. She thought long and hard about what happened last night.

How did I end up here? she asked herself. The last thing I remember was dancing in the town square. Hold on, where was Haze that time? Where is Haze now?

She looked over at Haze's bed to see nothing but folded sheets. She wondered if she returned with her last night. Sighing, she slumped back on her bed. She also noticed that she's dressed in her nightgown instead of her dress last night. Did Haze dress her?

Moon, her fox, climbed onto her bed, snuggling with her.

"My little moon," she says, caressing her pup, "I don't recall much of what happened last night. Let alone how I got here. Were you guarding me the whole time?" The pup licked her as it continued to snuggle her. She noticed the stone on its collar glowing.

Strange, she thought, examining the stone.
