The day slogs by quietly; nothing is late like last night where everyone piled out past the allotted time frame meant for labor. Everything is normal, it compels him to believe what happened to him was in actuality was a dream.
There was no tall man, no weird boy-like man, no henchman or scary-looking eyes. Normalcy only existed in his small ideal bubble of living. He will find a mate, marry and settle down eventually.
Being outside again in the afternoon he chooses to stroll down to the dead-end where the street meets looking around, "What am I doing?"
Christian trudges back up the small hill opening his car door getting in to only find he is aimlessly cruising around till he catches a long straight road he didn't remember seeing before caustically moving forward.
He realizes about fifteen minutes in how endless the road felt. A presence could be felt all around him having him question why he came; dark red eyes could be spotted from the trees high into the branches.
"I need to turn around…" Christian tells himself only to notice it's a road that goes one way, the road is so narrow while the sides are covered in wood.
The tree's so perfectly compacted together side by side while the further in the trees only seem to twist and turn, the bark coming off exposing the inner layer while there was no pattern in its presentation they would crook in different angles while the road starts to become nothing, but dirt.
Something darts in front of his car; he pushes down hard on the breaks of the vehicle swerving to the side getting out slamming the door.
He loudly can hear the sounds of crickets, branches falling, the cawing of birds all loud and distracting.
"I have seen you in a dream Christian…"
Christian twists his body around to view an older man dressed in black, his hair is black with white-brown streaks through it, he hobbles as he walks going face to face with Christian.
"Please don't be scared…soon I will be dead and I need you ever so badly."
"Me, you need me?"
"A clan I made decades ago is decaying mentally and physically"
"What do I have to do with this?" Christian asks, "You are a part of that weird group?"
"I need you to take care of Alex..."
Christian says nothing for a few moments motionless incapable of understanding fully what he is hearing, the large man places his hand on his shoulder patting him softly while Christian winces as though he felt it was in a dream again.
"That lanky small one all dressed in black?"
The man only nods back; the sound of a large roar could be heard far in the distance scaring Christian, "Please do not be afraid..."
"I don't know why I am here or anything really."
"Some of us can alter spaces; I decided to ensnare you to get a better look at you."
"Well then here I am, what do you want?"
"I can't reveal your fate, but you will soon be cornered and given no choices."
"You mean like now?"
"My name is Elijah, glad to meet you, Christian," Elijah says softly watching his face turn white as a sheet hearing his name be muttered, he inches away hitting the trunk of his car in disbelief.
"H-How did you know my name?"
"I already told you, you appeared to me in a dream."
"A dream...you saw me in a dream?"
Elijah laughs to himself watching this mortal man before his eyes cower in fear before him. Christian closes his eyes breathing in and out slowly before opening them again to note quickly he is still there.
"Please remember my words Christian, protect Alex from Dominique, he is your master after all."
His words spill out in a hurry while his surroundings fade around them both, soon nothing exists. He acknowledges his car is actually parked in a large field surveying his current location where he is brought attention to the fact his car somehow managed to break a long hanging barbed fence.
"Master, I have a master?" Christian says out loud, his face blushing to comb his hand down his face baffled by this new face thinking about the countless things that may happen.
"But doesn't that means...that means…"
He shuts up only to listen to the sound of the bubbling stream gazing up at the blackness of the night sky speckled with different dots like someone sprayed their paintbrush all over the canvas above him.
Nothing could compare to the new sense of responsibility being bestowed upon him that very moment, he feels like if he had lived it wasn't much one in comparison to a magick man conjuring his presence to him to reward him with a master.
His first impression is Alex from the beginning has been kind, he felt close to him without much work either, everything all of a sudden made sense to him.
Dominique planned to kill or harm Alex to push him from Elijah's good grace. That means Alex was truly chosen to replace this clan's leader, "That's why he grabbed me by the hair...I am the threat."
