DxD: My Hellfire Escapade

-Expect AU elements in this fanfiction- Flame Shake, a common [Sacred Gear] with the ability to grant it's user pyrokinetic abilities in the form a white-colored flame. Some may call it average at best, perhaps even sub-par. However I must disagree, bad [Sacred Gears] do not exist, only bad wielders --- Upload Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday. Slow start btw.

"Hah...hahah....hahahahaha!" From within the confines of the workshop a manic laughter could be heard—the sound echoed through the hallways of Grigori alerting the passerby's.

(Koen's Perspective)

Finally, this was my tenth consecutive attempt at forging a complete circuit, and it lit up. I have secluded myself in here for a whole month straight, doing nothing but trying to get this done, and at last, it's over.

I took a moment to sit down and collect my thoughts, it was finally time for me to make the real thing. Over this past month my skills at handling a Transmitter had improved greatly—it was almost as if the device was an extension of myself.

Drawing seals and patterns have become second nature to me—I'm confident that soon I'll be able to attempt even more complex forms of wiring, however right now my attention is needed elsewhere.

I made my way over to the refrigerated unit in the workshop—and opened the door as my skin was greeted by the bone chilling temperatures from inside. I grabbed the blue box Azazel had kept the Staring Twins blood in and brought it to my work station.

I grabbed another pair of silver bands but there was something different about this pair—there were holes inside them, the plan was to allow the blood to seep into the bands and use my flames to seal off the entrances, the remaining liquid inside would gradually seep into the band and assimilate.

It would be wiser to rest before attempting to make this thing—but my brain tells me otherwise, the dopamine rush from completing ten consecutive attempts seems to have put me into some sort of flow state, I'm confident that I'm in the ideal state to preform Mana Wiring.

I took a deep breathe and steadied my hands—I carefully placed two bands one on the right of my desk and one on the left, for [Staring Blue] and [Staring Green] respectively. I grabbed the vial with blue shimmering sparkles and opened the lid, taking a moment to admire it's contents.

I gently allowed the blue-stained crimson liquid pour into the bands hole—and did the same with the other. I lit up a candle-like ghostly flame on the tip of my fingers and used it to seal off the bands.

It's worthwhile to mention that my strength with [Flame Shake] had improved quite a bit, I wasn't shocked considering I used it each time to create the seals of each pair of bands. I could probably conjure a sphere about five meters in diameter now, how could I tell? Instinct.

The process of infusing the seal with my flames wasn't very taxing—however, the sheer quantity made up for what I lacked in quality. I had repeated the process exactly 2200 times, going through 1100 sets of bands. The forgemaster was quite pissed considering how much I was making him work—but it was all in the name of progress, so I find myself justified.

His name was Andrei—he had a handsome figure, with a tall muscular build, green eyes and shoulder-length brown hair and fair skin—not the type of person you'd expect to be running a forge. Apparently he was a Low-Class Devil that inherited his craft from his father.

It was quite shocking to see a Devil in an organization lead by Fallen Angels—considering the other's power is literally poison to the other, but I guess with someone with such a laid-back personality like Azazel it's hard to really get mad at him. Then again, I don't know if everyone in this organization can view him in a similar light.

And on one of Azazel's "strolls" which are in reality an excuse to run away from paperwork they ended up encountering one another, and Andrei's skills ended up impressing him, and one thing lead to another and now he works here.

When it comes to us humans they seem to like us both out of a sense of pity for our "tragic" pasts and also because we eventually end up providing the organization with more fighting power. We're never forced to do so, but most people end up doing it anyways, speaking of which.

Once the whole Tobio thing goes down, I wonder if Azazel will let me study those eggs he uses—the power to forcibly awaken dormant Sacred Gear's is truly fascinating, I wonder if understanding it's components would allow me to create my very own Sacred Gear. Then again—it's very possible that using an artificial gear may have complications as it may cause rejection in response to my own.

Issei somewhat managed to do it by absorbing a fraction of [Divine Dividing] through sheer willpower, as that's how Sacred Gears operate, then again I believe it ended up taking a good chunk of his lifespan—although not nearly as much as [Juggernaut Drive] did, which didn't really affect him in terms of longevity considering Devil's already live a considerable amount of time, but I on the other hand as a human, may not have such leniency.

Although overcoming such obstacles is one of the reasons I'm so hooked on science to begin with.

Despite our differences, me and Andrei share a passion for creation—I highly doubt such an inquiry will bear much fruit, however I plan on asking him if he knows anything about the creation of artificial organs, again—I don't expect much, but who knows he may end up surprising me.

I picked up the Transmitter and got to work, the first thing I needed to do was set up a seal to allow the connection to exist in the first place. I drew an elementary looking flask as the more accurately the seal was replicated unto the other object—the more stable the connection would be, thus a simple design was better.

Now I needed to do the wiring—my lining was extremely rectangular in shape and there was a good reason for it. The more "basic" the wiring is the more power can be transmitted through the artifact but the less complex its purpose can be. However, because the essence infused blood already preforms the link I don't need to do any extra wiring, which allows me to focus completely on the power of the device.

The more power it held—the more strength the Twins would be able to muster, well that explanation is quite watered down but you get the point.

Finally I had slowly but surely finished the wiring for both bands—now was the moment of truth. I placed the index finger of both my hands where I had drawn the seal on the bands, and slowly infused the power from [Flame Shake] into it. If the wiring lit up, it meant success—but if it didn't...

Nothing happened for a good few moments which filled me with anxiety, If I had failed here I was in deep shit—Azazel was dead-serious when he said he wouldn't draw their blood again.

And then I got a reaction—both bands began trembling, fuck—this was terrible news. Trembling meant the power within the artifact was too much for it's structure to handle, in such cases all you could was hope the frame would hold.

Interfering in any way would just cause the whole thing to go haywire and basically combust, I bit my thumb in frustration and watched on, I needed this to work, I couldn't let all the effort I had put it in during this month vanish.

It kept rumbling and began to cause the table to shake, had I truly screwed up?

Fortunately it finally decided to settle down—I could have sworn it was on the verge of collapse, how lucky I was. The bands both lit up, one had a green hue whilst the other had a blue one—it was a success!

I had officially created the [Resonance Band]—my first ever creation. An overwhelming sense of accomplishment swept over me, I had made something that no one else had, and I was about to unlock a form of [Balance Breaker] no one else had even heard off. My passion for research had only grown stronger.

I made my way to Azazel's office and prepared to gloat as much as possible, I opened the door and was greeted by a confused Azazel staring at the objects in my hands with widened eyes.

"You...actually managed to do it" he was stood there in disbelief—oh the feeling was extremely gratifying.

"Indeed I did—so, I believe I'm owed a reward if I remember correctly?" I knew that I currently had an obviously smug grin plastered all over my mug—and I could care less, I earned the right to gloat after all.

"Wait wait, before that we have to actually test out your creation correct?" Is he doubting my impeccable expertise? Whatever, I can afford to enlighten this fool to the sheer genius that resides within my cranium.

"Fine—go call the twins I'll be waiting in the gym" he nodded and I made my way to the training area. As I exited Valia was stood outside with a shocked expression on her face as he glanced at me—it seems someone was eavesdropping on us. Not that I care since we weren't discussing anything sensitive.

"Did you actually manage to finish it?" she questioned in disbelief. Why must everyone doubt my intellect?

"Naturally—as a matter of fact I'm going to test it out right now, I assume you wish to follow along?" I don't have an issue with satiating her curiosity, kids are naturally curious about everything after all, its part of their nature. No I did not just read that in a book I found...ok maybe I did.

As I was pacing around the area waiting for the twins to arrive I heard the door creak.

"Ah! You're finally here" I rushed over to them before they could even begin to question the reason behind my excitement. I grabbed both their arms and placed the bands on them. "Your wish has been fulfilled" I declared as I proudly looked at their stunned reactions.

"We'll be able to achieve [Balance Breaker] with these?" they questioned. Yet again—what's with the doubt? I already told everyone about my theory from the start.

"Mhm—all that's left for you to do is to channel the energy from your gears into them, now hurry up! Don't keep me waiting!"

"Koen-sensei...how can we even begin to repay you" Takuma said.

"You can repay me by hurrying up and showing me the fruits of my efforts" I retorted, I swear it feels like I'm being blue-balled just activate the damn thing already. They complied and both their bands lit up in a blue and green color respectively, I grinned as I watched the process.

A blue translucent crown appeared above Takuma's head it had five points and small particles of energy seemed to radiate off it. Furthermore he had a blue cloak with what seemed to be thorn-like vines covering his torso—for a second I mistook him for some sort of royalty, his eyes also shone a radiant blue, it was a stunning sight to behold.

A blue bow twice the size of him appeared in his hands but he held it as if it was weightless—he inspected it and even I could feel the monstrous energy radiating off of it. Jun had the exact same appearance but with green coloration instead.

So this was their [Balance Breaker].

"....beautiful" was all I could muster.

Once again—both of them bowed which was really beginning to get on my nerves. "Koen-Sensei! We have no idea how to even begin to thank you!"

I looked at Valia's delighted expression—I knew exactly what they could do. "If you want to thank me so badly—how about you both show me what this newfound power of yours can really do" I said as I pointed towards Valia, for a second I could have sworn she was about to begin drooling.

They both gulped down a chunk of saliva and gave me a reluctant nod in response, hey—they were the ones who were so insistent, now it was time for them to repay me. I made sure I was as far as possible from the three and prepared to see what sort of power I had granted them.
