The overprotective twin

The intense part came when 'Shape of You' was in play and it seemed like the crowd planned it and gave the floor to Quinn and Kendrick. They danced like they didn't just meet, the chemistry between them was on a whole different level.

After the dance, they went to take some more shots and by the end of the night Quinn was already tipsy, this was what she was trying to avoid. Her first day at Tucson University was tomorrow, how could she be hungover on her first class?

Kendrick came behind her and kissed her neck. "You made my night." He whispered in her ear, sending shivers down her spine.

"I don't like grumpy people, I'm glad you loosened up." She turned to face him.

"Guess it's me who was thinking of kissing you all along." He said.

"Then kiss me."

That did it. Their lips met and they completely forgot that they were in a room filled with people. They were not the only ones making out, but people who knew Quinn were shocked because she had always been an uptight lady, they knew she was the boss here and they had never seen her flirt or even have a guy other than her twin brother around her.

"Would you like to leave here and go somewhere more..."

"I would love to but..." she gave him a bit of space "I have an important meeting tomorrow..." She didn't want to say no directly but she couldn't say yes either, if not she would end up on his bed and miss her class tomorrow. Secondly, she was even scared, she had not been with anyone before or after the incident that got her pregnant, and she had no idea how it would be.

"I understand." He gave her a small kiss on her cheek. "I can give you my number, right?"

She knew he was not going to take her seriously, they would probably end up as a one-night stand thing, but it was about living a little, She took out her phone and he typed his number.

"I'll be leaving now, call me." He winked at her and left.

"Dammit Quinn," Jaden dragged her back to the bar counter.

"You were the one that said live a little." Quinn chuckled.

"I didn't trust you would pull it off." Jaden poured her a glass of wine.

"I've had too much already, you know tomorrow is my first day, I don't want to mess it up."

"Okay okay." Jaden drank the wine instead.

"I'll be leaving now." As she turned to leave she saw her twin brother.

"Who the hell was that guy you were making out with?" Finn came from nowhere asking.

"Oh shit." She covered her face, wondering how she wanted to explain to her brother that she just wanted to a little fun.

He has been overprotective of her ever since the terrible incident that got her pregnant. He won't take any chances on having random guys around his sister ever.

"You're not going to meet that guy." He took her phone and deleted Kendrick's number from it.

"What the...?" She couldn't complete it cause Finn hated it when she used curse words.

"Let's go home." He took long angry strands out of the club.

"I wonder why he still treats you like a child," Jaden said.

"He blames himself for what happened to me three years ago," Quinn replied sadly, if it had anything to do with work or intellectual challenges her brother gave her the freedom to go to any level that pleased her because he knew how smart she was, but whenever it came to boys he acted like an overprotective brother.

"Sort it out with him, he can't keep caging you, you're an adult now."

I sighed and took a second to think.

"I'm done with the paperwork for today, it's in my office. Any other paperwork coming into the club Finn will handle it from now on. Except very important ones that need my attention." Quinn informed her as she picked up her purse.

"Noted boss," Jaden replied, grinning at the attitude she used.

"Good night Jaden, make sure everything is in place before you close up." With that said, Quinn left the club to join her brother in his car.

The ride back home was silent, until Quinn broke the iceberg. "Finn." She paused and looked at him, noticing how his focus was hard on the road. "I know you're still hurt from what happened three years ago, but it's okay now. I can take care of myself, I've been in boxing class for over two years, and I'm strong now." She explained like she was trying to convince herself too.

"You should look out for yourself more, I can take care of myself perfectly." Quinn said and looked out of the window.

"It's not easy to forget the feeling of helplessness Quinn, I know you still have those nightmares from the night you were raped. I know you're still scared of the day the kids will ask about their father and you still have no idea who it is. I know you still cry some nights about the death of Mum for three years." Finns' hands on the wheels tightened in remembrance of their mother. "There is too much pain in our lives already, I don't just want you making mistakes that will lead to more pain."

"I understand, but you need to give me a bit of a chance. I'm healing and it's not that bad any longer." She assured him.

After a few minutes of pondering, Finn replied "Okay," he nodded "but if anyone tries to hurt you by any chance, I'll kill him myself."

Quinn chuckled "Heartbreaks are a norm around here."

"Not for my sister." He replied and she smiled.

"Since you completed your tech program last month, have you gotten any internship offers?" Quinn asked.

"Yeah, it's from the DEA. They said I graduated exceptionally and they would like me to work with them, but I haven't gotten a call for an interview yet."

"That can take ages."

"I know, at least I have your club to manage. That can keep me busy until then." He said.

"Yeah."

"How prepared are you for school tomorrow," Finn asked.

"First I'm glad you'll be taking care of the kids and I will be staying in the school dorm for the first year, the kids won't be much of a distraction to me." She adjusted her seat belt. "As for being prepared, honestly I'm not."

"Don't worry, it will go smoothly." Finn took one of his hands off the steering wheel and squeezed her hand softly. "I trust you, you're one of the smartest people I know."

Quinn had a really high IQ, she had always been the best in everything when she was in high school with her brother, but then it was only book work. She extended her brilliance when she decided to start a wine business with the money their mother gave them to use and run away. It was up to 100k US dollars, and it was more than enough for them to start a new life in a new place. At first, it was not easy to live small because they were from a wealthy home, they had to learn how to manage and take care of two kids at the same time when they were still practically kids. Quinn had to do something that would recycle their money, so she went into a business program for six months after giving birth to her twins. When she was done she opened the club and started her wine business at a very young age, it's been about a year now and the club is flourishing.

Along that she had enrolled in a gym and also started training to learn how to fight and defend herself. She became too serious about it and even went to a few competitions and won, she was really skilled at fighting. Her motivation was to give her kids a better life than she had because despite growing up in a wealthy home, there was never peace in the house. Her mother was having an affair, and somehow her dad died a mysterious death. After the burial of her father, her mother suddenly said they were coming to kill her too, and that she would be dead by the end of that day. She had to pack up their things and told them to run away. They heard a gunshot just as they started the car engine, guessing it was their mum they shot. They took off on an unplanned road trip. Since then, they've been on their own. It's been three years already and a lot has happened,

"it's time to let go of everything." Quinn said to herself.

"I'll find their father one day." She said it as a promise.

"That will bring back a lot of pain," Finn said as he parked the car in front of their house.

"It's not like I won't keep hating him for destroying my life, but the kids have a right to know their father." She sighed and thought it over again, "Honestly he didn't totally destroy my life, it gave me two wonderful kids after all."

"It will be hard to find him, it's only his name we know. You didn't even see his face well."

"You're the tech guy, you'll find a way." She smiled.

"Once we are settled I'll start a technical search." He promised.

"Thanks." She kissed him on the cheek.

They got out of the car and went into the house. "Mummy!"

"Mummy!" The twins ran towards her with their baby steps.
