Dragon Tears

Secrets. We all keep them. Some tend to protect us from harm. Others tend to lead us to it. While Kayda’s secret is one that haunts her. Kayda isn’t human. She never was. All her life, she knew that. The words thrown at her and the fear filled gazes that watched her showed just how much of a monster she was. But she isn’t what those people think she is either. She’s kept her fair amount of secrets hidden. And she intended to keep them, until her barriers we torn down. Kayda has already had her lifetimes worth of pain and misery along with those secrets she keeps. She spent so long fighting, so long trying to survive, that one day, she finally snapped. Her sanity was shredded by the creatures called humans. She was torn down piece by piece to be used as entertainment slowly corroding away what once was her mind. Only to be built back up again to repeat the gruesome process. So she finally gave up. Now, she is nothing but a beast. At least, that’s what she portrays to be. And she would have continued to play her part as the feral pet, but what happens when Dimitri appears? A cold and calculative man, who appeared in what she thought would be her last moments. A man who seemed to have even more secrets then even her, but was still able to show a side of himself that even she had lost. He was ruthless, cold blooded, calculative, and even, warm? So what happens when he’s out on a mission and meets a creature he quickly wants to dismiss? A creature that he had no interest in until he met her eyes. How exactly is Dimitri going to carefully piece Kayda back together again? And how is Kayda going to react to the unfamiliar kindness shown by a stranger? What’s his motive? ———————- “So, your saying, that because you saved me from death, I’m now in your debt?” Kayda was intrigued but at the same time annoyed, seeing the charming tilt in Dimitri’s lips. And as she stared, Dimitri reveled in her gaze. “You could say that.” His mischievous voice didn’t go unnoticed and Kayda felt a slight twitch at the corner of her lip. With a glow in her eyes, she walked up to Dimitri who was staring her down. “I’ll repay a favor. But I’ll never be in your debt.” Slamming a hand down, she growled. “The Goddess wanted me dead for a reason. You’re lucky I don’t show you why.” Dimitri grinned with amusement when suddenly, his hand snaked its way around her waist. “Even the Goddess can’t take you away from me.” He whispered. ————————————- ‘The cover was not made, and is not owned by me. : Flipping of a Coin

Dr. Myer got Kayda to allow her to check her wounds. She had two broken ribs that had scraped up against the outer layer of her lungs.

Dr. Myer told her she was extremely lucky that it was only a scratch and that it didn't puncture her lungs. After that, they left. Only leaving her with another prescription to be taken at a later date.

Kayda habitually ran her fingers through her hair as her nails scraped at the skin of her scalp, leaving unseen scabs.

It was her tell when she was nervous, stressed or overwhelmed with emotions she tried to suppress.

She acted out of character earlier. In fact, she didn't really know what her in character personality was.

She was like a coin continuously flipping in the air. Landing on a different side each time it landed.

She was caring, but could suddenly become distant. She was cold, but then would suddenly become emotional. She could be mature, but at the drop of a hat, she could become an immature child.

Just who was she? She didn't feel like a living being when she was locked in a cage behind looming bars but she wasn't herself when locked inside a luxurious prison made of silk.

Nothing in her life was stable. The people, her character, her feelings, the environment, not even the thoughts running through her head.

She felt her nails dig into her scalp.

Not even her form was constant.

Ugh! Even now, she used to be so used to suppressing herself, controlling the emotions that ran through her body on rampant stampedes, but now they decided to make her insecure!

Kayda roared out in frustration. She took the crystal from her neck and tore it off. She had changed her form three days today. When she met Micheal so he knew it was her. When she changed back into her so called human form when entering her room again and now, as she felt that the imaginary skin she was wearing was strangling her into a suffocation she couldn't claw at or tear away.

Her form returned. Her horns, tale, fangs and claws. This was her. This was who she was. But why?

Why did she feel like she was walking the steps of a body that was not her own, feeling emotions that did not belong to her.

Kayd got washed. Again. She couldn't get enough of the feeling of filth slightly being abolished from her skin when she scrubbed and scrubbed with the steaming water and foaming soap.

Once she was dressed, she fell to the carpet on the floor. Her body felt lifeless and numb. She was too tired. So tired of everything already.

Why was she even alive? Why hadn't she given up? What was her motivation again? She couldn't even tell if she was dead or living anymore.

Maybe this was just some acid trip she was having after being gutted by that disgusting pig duke.

Kayda took in a breath. The cleanliness of the room was unfamiliar to her. Even the carpet that rubbed against her pale cheeks could never replace the feeling of the rich green grass that smelled of dirt and plants.

She closed her eyes. But even that bitter smelling grass could never replace that meadow of flowers where the wind danced and played with the tips of those innocent flower petals then carried the essences of those flowers through the breeze to caress any passersby face, awakening the sense of smell with their sweet scent.

As Kayda reminisced, she fell away from the world. A knock fell upon the door. Then another. When no reply came, the door opened followed by the footsteps of a man.

When Kayda felt his presence, she opened her eyes. In front of her was a pair of black leather shoes neatly taken care of and polished in mint condition. They didn't look like they had been worn for a day.

She moved her eyes up, but she had to turn onto her back to be able to see the face of the man standing next to her.

His cold blue eyes looked down at her. Even with their light and encircled color, they gave off the sense of shimmering pools with a bottomless trench that seemed to stretch on forever. Giving off a rose effect. A beautiful sight that you could get lost in, unaware of the hidden thorns and uncharted waters where you could drown.

Seeing his face, she didn't care if she was in her real form at that moment. She simply closed her eyes and ignored him and the shiny tray he was holding.

He could just fricken kill her already. See if she cared.

And if she could get a few curses in before he lopped off her head, she would be able to rest in peace.

Wait. Her mother forbade her from cussing. Right. Ok then, a few punches will do.

As Kayda ignored him, Dimitri's lips pressed together to form a rigid and cold line.

He had listened to Dr. Myer rant and yell about how unhealthy she was. She did still seem extremely thin and malnourished. But her skin looked a tad less pale and her cheeks no longer as sunken as the eyes placed in their sockets.

He sighed. This was troublesome. He didn't really care if she lived or died as a person, but it would be too much of a hassle to find another Drakin with such compatibility with his little sister.

So he would rather have her alive than have her in the form of a corpse.

With his foot, he nudged her side. Trying to get her to open her eyes again and to stop ignoring him.

"Get up and eat." His cello voice comanaded.

He spoke in the Southern continents main language that they both understood.

He noticed that she was more likely to give a response when he used the language of her home country.

When she didn't respond, he could feel his eye twitch in annoyance.

When was the last time someone dared to go so blatantly against his orders without fear of the consequences?

He nudged her a little harder but he still got no response. His face turned grim as his eyes narrowed.

He walked to put the tray down on a table in the room and then made his way back over to her.

His eyes narrowed as he looked at her. "If you don't get up on your own, I'll have to help you." Instead of sounding like a man offering a gesture of help, he sounded like he was giving a threat to hang her by her neck.

Kayda flinched lightly at his words. She should have hidden her disgust of being touched more thoroughly. Even this was used as a weakness against her.

He sure knew how to utilize the information he had on hand.

With a sigh, she sat up. Her eyes opened while giving a disgusted glare towards him before getting up. Her tail swung behind her in frustration.

Once she stood up, she raised her head to look at him as her head only just barely reached his chest.

"What can I do for you, lord?" Her words were slightly mocking but otherwise, it was completely apathetic.

Dimitri had to restrain himself from getting annoyed with her obvious attitude of dislike. He could not tell where this dislike was coming from or how he had earned such antipathy from her.

But after a moment, he just opted for not caring. He didn't need to be bothered by the feelings of others.

Without a change of expression, Dimitri said, "I was told you need to eat more by Dr. Myer. I've come here to supervise you."

Kayda scoffed. Supervise her? What kind of joke was this? "Couldn't you just get one of your many servants to do such a chore? Besides, I'm sure you're busy." She openly mocked him as she turned around to sit on one of the couches in opposition.

Dimitri didn't move and just coolly looked at her. "Do you think a servant would dare to openly order you?" His tone hinted at something.

Kayda instantly picked up on it. Kayda wasn't exactly nice to the servants. When they tried to help, she ignored them. When they did something that rubbed at her wrong, she would growl. She could tell that she had scared them.

Only Maggy and Butler Stevens were not scared of her. When the servants started to cleverly neglect her, only Maggy and Butler Stevens would come by. But they were head figures in the mansion that overlooked the other servants, so they didn't have the time to tend to her.

She was fine with that, but that meant, she spent her days in a solitary confinement.
