Draconic Evolution

A vulcanian from the star trek universe exhales his last breath in a fight to the death. This logical and pragmatical individual will find himself reborn in a world of sword and magic. An hostile new environment heavily inspired from the monster hunter universe. Fighting legendary creatures, and relying on the most illogical of things, such as magic, the mc will try to protect his loved ones in this new life of his. (As magic is a really broad term, there will be various magical elements and not only the magical weapons from monster hunter) The plot of the story is completely created by my own imagination. Don't expect this to follow the canonical fight of the game either. The story is taking place in the real world, monsters won't have a simple hp bar and MC neither. As such consider this work as a complete AU. Chapter lenght: around 1000/1200 words. --> I don't own the cover, the right are copletely of the artist. If you want me to change it, just write it and it will be done. Feel free to point out any possible mistake or expression your opinions. *I don't own any material coming both from the monster hunter or star trek universe*

[Rulia]

After the incident he almost suffered because of his stupid brother, Severus life entered a new peaceful period which he exploited to learn more about the world of Rulia.

Actually this had only been possible because of the aftermath of their 'fight'. As Darius had been confined into a clinical structure where an angel could directly treat his eyes. If not Darius would have probably remained blind for a few years at the very least. This was not because Severus attack was particularly strong, but on the contrary was Darius body to be still extremely weak. In fact being hit by a magical strike while not having yet awaken your own magical apparatus was actually very risky.

Yet no one really knew what had happened in the accident, as Darius words were not been taken seriously and his three friends did not see anything strange other than him suddenly falling and screaming. His mother Liliana was working as an assistant at the only tailoring shop in the town center, she surely couldn't comprehend the origin of what did hurt his son eyes.

As such she acted as the apprehensive mother she was, sending her son at the next large city of Naxium. It there she paid all of her savings to treat Darius eyes.

In truth Liliana wasn't such poor woman as her habitation would suggest, she just valued her priorities. Even if her job wasn't as profitable she always worked overtime when she could and coupled with the pension she received for the loss of her husband, she had accumulated some savings. This was because she preferred to buy more healthy and nutrient food for her kids or save some money for their future education than but a more fancy house or some other luxury items.

Anyway to discover what have happened to the now completely blind Darius, it will need the keen eye of the healer stationed at the clinic of Naxium. As such, a few months later, Darius had arrived at his destination. His mother had clearly told him the situation he had found himself in. The Doctor of the village had stated his blindness to be almost permanent and that if he was lucky in the span from five to ten years he would regain his sight.

Only an official healer would be able to heal his sight in a matter of hours. The only beings that could possess such abilities were those of the angel race. They were humanoids rather similar to humans, they had a pair of white feathery wings on their backs and their features were generally more beautiful of hat of humans. Also their more distinctive trait was their natural capability of conjuring magic of the water element and their healing abilities they could perform with it.

Furthermore the angel kingdom was situated on the east side of that of the humans. Between the two species there was a particular kind of affinity and the sovereigns incited goodwill toward the two races to solidify their alliance.

A two meters tall male angel with sharp features and a long white coat, that was open on the back at the base of his wings, hurriedly closed near Darius. He observed at the boy that was leisurely sitting on the black leather couch of the clinic. Then he started to analyze the dull eyes of the little human in front of him, as they were permeated by a whitish color he neared his arm to his face and suddenly greenish water shot forward. Yet the green fluid didn't hurt Darius, it just coiled around the zone of his eyes just to retread a few seconds later.

The angel had understood the cause of this blindness, it probably was cause by the exposure to UV radiations but not of the likes of a normal electromagnetic wave. In this case they originated from a magical source. Hamael had already encountered a similar case in the past while he was still working in a facility at the 'Glistering Island'.

It had happened that a team of D rank hunters had ventured too deep into the great jungle and lost one of their comrades while being chased by an Anjanath. This said hunter that had separated from his team continued to strive into the jungle alone for days, preying on small monsters. Yet he met an horrific encounter with none other than an elder dragon.

This mystical creatures are very dangerous and the hunters that can survive a direct fight against one of them can be counted on one hand, this obviously in a 1v1 battle. However these beasts, in most cases, are actually very intelligent creatures and would not attack if not provoked. This lucky fellow had indeed not been directly attacked by such creature, and the Teostra he had encountered did not attacked but just flew off.

Still by looking at the intense flames that blazed around the flying leonine dragon, he got blinded by such magic intensity. He wasn't as damaged as Darius and required a minor treatment, yet the nature of their injury was apparently very similar.

Time quickly flew by and Severus was steadily growing. Once he reached three years of age he started to train his body, practicing the ancient vulcanian arts he slowly tempered his new body. It obviously wasn't as 'easy' as it had been in his previous life, since this practices were not meant for humans to do, but vulcanians. Only his katra and spirit rendered possible this arduous training. Liliana had already become aware of how bizarre his son's actions could actually be and declared it a lost cause anyway.

Furthermore she had spent all of her savings for Darius healing and did not that to hire a professional to fix Severus weird behavior. The only part of him being usual for his age was his great curiosity. As he would often ask her for information about the world, he had an almost endless thirst for knowledge. Yet Liliana was a simple tailor assistant, for most of the topics regarding magic she wasn't very competent.

Anyway Severus grasped a general understanding of the outside world. Rulia was divided in three different enormous continents, and consequentially three different factions. The currently only habitable one was the one he was residing in and it was under the rule of the FSS. This was the Federation of Sentient Species and was an alliance between all the humanoid races that ruled over the continent of Egagias. Its whole land mass is encircled by the ocean and on its west side, after thousands of kilometers of blue crystalline water, is situated yet another continent called 'The Glistering Island'.

In this island shaped continent the wilderness reign supreme. This land is literally brimming with large monsters that are always hostile to other sentient beings. Even legendary creatures like elder dragons are not so rare in that kind of environment. Obviously this wild continent for the FSS is like a huge treasury full of precious resources to study and to exploit. As they put a great deal of finances in maintaining the institutions present in the island.

In truth the federation is the alliance of the 5 more prominent species that are dominating in Egagias, those which have triumphed in the ancient war and established their own kingdom on the continent. They are humans, angels, devils, elves and dwarfs, as one can imagine these races surely weren't in good terms. Only humans and angels shared a deeper bond between their species. Thus only one cause could have united them, a stronger and more dangerous foe.

In this case it's represented by the third continent which his mother didn't want to talk much about, as she lost her husband against this very enemy. Liliana just mentioned their name, not wanting to scare her children, whom even if acted very mature was still a three years old kid.

They call it 'The nation of Death'.
