The Black Cloak

I walked over to Dylan as I sat down to eat lunch. He looked at me strangely, "What were you gonna get a scholarship for?" I knew that he would be listening to the convercition. I forgot to tell him about it, and that was the best thing I could've done ever. I didn't like being smart, it was a weakness to everyone in high school, even though I like being a nerd. I don't wanna be a geek, I rather drop out than have that title.

"Got it for grades." I said looking down, trying to avoid the look on his face. Dylan just grabbed my hand, "You don't have to be ashamed of who you are around me." he smiled and let go of my hand. At that moment I think that we were both blushing red with embarrassment. I looked up to see his face but behind him was that kid again with the black cloak. "Dylan, do you see that kid? I feel like he has been following me since this morning." I said to Dylan, maybe he could tell me who it was.

Dylan looked behind him and a couple seconds later he turned back very confused. "Theo, I don't know that kid, maybe he's a freshmen pulling a prank." That made me feel a little more relaxed then I was the first time I saw that kid. Soon the lunch bell ran and I just couldn't wait for this horrible day to end. Until Hayden stopped me in the hall, "Well hello little orphan." she said laughing, I don't usually use smart remarks but when people say stupid things I just have to say something back.

"That isn't true, because I'd have no family if I was an orphan. Yet I have a family that adopted me." I answered back. "Well, I don't care you are still an orphan. Dylan will never love you cause of that." she smirked, "He'll just fall into my arms in seconds." "Well if you think that I like Dylan than you are out of your mind. You should give Dylan more credit, he's smarter than you think." oh my god, she doesn't have a clue dose she? "He isn't in any of your classes for a reason, Hayden." Hayden just stood there not knowing what to do, finally just like every Thursday Dylan turned the corner and walked down the hall.

Hayden smiled, she turned towards Dylan and fell into his arms. When she did his face looked disgusted, "Dylan thank god you are here! Theopok was just bullying me!" Hayden said, giving me a sneaky smirk. Dylan helped her up then looked over at me, I didn't know what to do or say. So I just waved at him, he smiled and looked back at Hayden. "Nice try but I listened to your conversation around the corner." a sigh of came out of my mouth. He then took my hand and lead me down the hall all the way to the library. Dylan than stopped and turned towards me, "You pay attention." he smiled, "And I pay attention too, happy birthday Theo."
