Chapter Five: That Would Normally Be The Troupe

Two years quickly went by. Accompanying it, I became five.

Within the years that went by, I discovered the nature and genre of this world. A world of magic and fantasy. I also discovered my early talent for magic at a very young age. However, due to circumstances, I had to swear not to reveal that to anyone. Not until I'm well of age.

It's a bummer, but it's what I have to do to ensure the quiet life I plan to lead.

Today was the day I officially head out. The circumstances and nature this time are if course different from two years ago.

After that incident, let's just say, we had a talk. I raised the issue that I wasn't let to go out, beyond the compounds wall. I was curious and compelled to see what the world beyond the wall looked like so that's why I snuck out. That was exactly the argument I put forward.

After a while of contemplating and all, we finally came to an agreement that I'd be allowed to head out myself...but not until I at least turn five. Which I am now.

They both said, I can't spend all my life hauled up at home. I was going to have to go out, explore the world and make a friend or two.

Though, I'm not quite confident about that last one.

I wasn't the best at socializing back in my last life.

Okay. I'm all set and ready to go. I head to a shelf in the corner of my room and pick up a big thick covered book. It was a book Leila got for me for my last birthday.

The book taught the ecology of this world, like it's plants, animals, landscape, weathers and stuffs like that.

I also picked up one of the children's book Leila got for me a while back. I haven't got to read it yet, though. I straightened my clothes once more and headed towards the door.

I stopped before a hung mirror on the side of my room over the left wall. The surface of the mirror precisely portrayed my reflection.

My facial features had some little similarities with my past life's. I happened to have retained the black colour of both my hair and eyes. However this time, it was a pristined shiny black.

Other than the black hair and eyes, every other features were completely different with no trace of my previous face.

I was blessed with an above average looking face. Facial features that seemed to have been measured to a careful precision. Fair, smooth creamish skin enough to slap half the majority of beauty models back in earth rwice in the face.

Even in this world, I definitely wasn't under the average looks section.

After a quick while of basking and admiring my new afce in a narcissistic manner and making smug faces at the mirror, I decided to head out the door.

I bolted through the top floor and then raced down the stairs.

"Mother, father, I'm heading out." I called out to and informed Cliff and Leila of my departure.

And with a slightly troubled expression, Leila said,

"Eh!? Already!?"

"Hm? Yeah. Is there any problem?" I asked a bit worried or perhaps suspicious.

"Well, no. it's just, don't you think it's well, you know…to early?"

...Eh?

Too early!? By earth's time it'll be something between ten to eleven.

"Well, no. Not exactly..." I said with narrowed eyes, slightly confused.

"O-oh, I see…" Cliff muttered akwardly while scratching the side of his face in strange manner. He uncomfortably avocado ded my gaze.

It didn't take me much time to understand something was off.

Layla for one had been greatly against the idea of letting me go out on my own. One of the major reason being that I could disclose the fact I was capable of using magic while out.

I observed the faces and expressions of my parents momentarily. I moved on to glance all around the sitting room. Other than the akward and uncomfortable expressions if my parents, nothing else seems suspicious or off.

And then it struck me....

They could be changing their minds...!

Just then, one of them spoke up,

"Actually Reo..."

"Well then, I'm out. Bye!" without providing a chance to listen to them, I quickly said and shot the door

"Ah! Reo!" Cliff's voice reached my ears but regardless.

I took to my heels and ran across the front yard immediately.

I head out the compound, down the hill and into town and breathed out a sigh of relief.

I walked down the part leading into the main village. The wind against my face felt nice and the beautiful scent of the trees wafted past my nose. It was that one feeling...freedom.

Along the way, I came across a bunch of playing kids my age heading down the direction I came. The kids halted their playing and their faces stiffened up instantaneously like they had seen a foreign object or creature.

I too paused as well to look at them. And for a moment we both held each other's eyes.

"..."

I remained puzzled by this and just stared at the distancing backs.

Those aloof looks were familiar though. I used to get those a lot back on earth.

I heaved a sigh and continued. I first of all took into the bushes. I had seen a lot of uniquely strange things the last time.

This time I had the Ecology book with me though. I could be able to identify the types of plants and creatures crawling around.

I spent the next thirty minutes to one hour observing the bugs and lizard like things that crawled around. With the help of the book, I began differentiating the poisonous plants from the non poisonous ones.

The Ecology if this world, I truly found fascinating. As I was immeresed in this activity, I easily lost track of the time I had spent there.

I later realized there were a lot othe things for me to see and do than limit myself to the bushes and decided to move on. I did however take some samples with me. They were mostly flower plants I found interesting. I was going to grow them in the backyard.

After all, we do seemed to have more space there now...

I got out from the bushes and dusted off my clothes.

There was one thing I'd wanted to do or more rather, a place I had always wanted to see again. But before then, I decided to go bird watching.

"Chirp, chirp..." I tailed the and watced the exotic and colorful birds of the village fly and perch around.

After that walked around the village boasting greenery and wide fields of plantation. The population in comparison was a lot more smaller though.

It was the kind of village where everyone knew each other.

After a while of enjoying the scenary and getting to know my way around the village, I decided to take a little break. And I already knew just the right place to do so.

The vast golden sea of yeast spread out seemingly reaching the far vast horizon. The waves created from the bending of the straws under the direction of the wind ensued a breath taking scenary.

I found the right spot, under a tree atop a small hill withe the vast view of the plain in full view.

I sat under the thlree and watched. A small smile slowly crept up on my face.

'This...really is a fantasy world, huh'

I flipped through the pages of the Ecology text book and arrived at a particular page which contents caught my attention and peaked my interest.

The page displayed the global regions of the world and from it I discovered this world held nine continents. Out if the nine were four leading continents at the frontier of economy and power

First, there was the Eastern continent. Recorded as the smallest among the nine.

Though the smallest, they are known to boast some of the most popular tourist attractions and sights out of all the other continents. Aside from their tourist attractions and all, they also engage in inter continental exchange of resources.

Then there's the Southern continent, the second largest continent with the most land and greenery.

It's the continent that boast the most natural resources and raw materials, as well as something called magic ore.

According to the book, magic ores are some kind of rare rocks, which can mostly be found in places with high concentration of manna. They have a variety of uses in this world.

Then there is the third is the Northern continent. It's the second smallest continent. It's a continent which focuses more on trades and foreign exchange. It's the direct neighbor to the Southern continent, which supplies it with some of its materials to distribute to other continents.

The Northern continent focuses on trades with all other continents, but mainly with one.

The Western continent or the Notos Empire. This is the largest continent. It is both the biggest and Most influential as well as powerful continent. It's the most developed continent, with the most military might amongst all four continents.

The book goes into more details about each of the continents, like its history, population, birth rate and stuffs like that

The other continents were also listed; the North eastern continent, The South eastern continent, The South western continent, The South south continent, and The North western continent.

However, compared to the earlier four, extensive details didn't follow and wasn't mentioned about them

I close the thick book and place it down beside me. My attention was now drawn by the other book which I had brought along.

It was a children's book Leila had gotten for me.

On the cover, rhe title read; "The heroic legend and tales of the hero"

Is was one of those children's fantasy book. Whatever the case, by reading it, I might get a little understanding of this world's literature and folklores.

I decided to check it out and opened up the book and read.

The book was about this oh! Great hero, who vanquished many foes and saved the world lots and lots of time, the hero was one who had brought peace and was a symbol of justice for all of mankind four hundred years ago.

He protected the world from all forms of threat and erased all of his foes. But, there was one enemy who proved to be particularly difficult. The Demon Lord, otherwise known as, the vile lord of Destruction and Chaos.

The dark lord had burnt down cities, kingdoms and continents alike and turned them all into a sea of flames.

He was one who commanded a vast amount of power, ascending that of the gods. He was said to have brought down the heavens and killed off most of the gods.

According to the book, he was known to have mastered all spells and forms of magic, a feat no human could ever wish to accomplish. His other title was, the God of Magic and spells.

He commanded a large horde of monsters and demons and brought the world to ruin. This was a foe which posed to be supreme. A being which surpassed gods, and logic itself. The Demon Lord of Chaos.

However, the Demon Lord was eventually defeated and killed by the hero. And they lived happily ever after, the end.

....

Like hell that's the end!!

How the hell did someone as strong as the demon lord get killed!!? That doesn't make sense to me.

If the Demon Lord really was how this book had described him to be, I just can't see it possible to kill him. Sealing might be more understandable and possible, but killing him, I just can't see that happen.

Sigh, whatever the case no point thinking about it now. It is just a kid's book after all. Even if all these really happened, it was four hundred years ago.

But then, as I read the book, the strange flashes and glimpse from that moment replayed over in my head. And then I was promoted a strange idea and question.

Could it be that the reason I was reincarnated with a body like this was to be the next hero to save the world from ruin; that would probably be the setting in fantasy novels though.

It's already become a common troupe. A familiar clichè one.

....

If that's truly how my life is supposed to go, then I'm sorry to disappoint whatever beautiful Goddess or entity that summoned me here.

I have absolutely no intention of doing that.

That's just way too much of a hassle and is exactly the opposite of the slow life I intend to live.

I have next to zero interest in becoming a hero, slaying dragons and demon lords alike. I just want a normal boring life.

Stuffs like that are just too much of a drag.
