Four men from her father's personal security stepped up to arrest Zayne to drag him off to the dungeons, and suddenly, the open atmosphere became charged and suffocating at the same time. Suddenly, the light and breezy atmosphere became still. When everyone under pressure struggled to look at the source, including the security guards, who suddenly looked pale, they saw a calm Aubrianne clutching her necklace in her hand, her eyes glowing that gorgeous blue, indicating Leia was out and very present and feral. "No one touches him." Aubrianne had stepped in front of her mate. The top of her head reached a little below Zayne's chest, and she spoke low and deadly. It was a fatal command that not one of them could refute. If they choose to fight her command, they die.

Locked Away

The forces might have doubled if they had been expecting Zayne. Zayne had taken the time to explain things to Mekhi. Zayne refused to have Mekhi beat himself up over this.

Because Zayne knew within himself, it simply was not the case, and he needed Mekhi to get better and not wallow in what he saw as his failures.

After more back and forth, Mekhi resigned to Zayne's estimate of events.

Then an elated Zayne simply stared at Mekhi, his blue eyes twinkling, a broad smile on his face. Still, before he could say anything, Mekhi's eyebrows pinched, his eyes narrowed, and he instantly sat up, "Oh buddy," his tone curious, "tell me we got help."

Mekhi assumed Zayne's smile was about his trip and hoped it yielded results. He knew they needed it now more than ever, and hearing that they had Alpha Theodore Thornton's backing would simply make his day.

It would mean all was not lost. It would mean that this might actually be over soon.
