Portal Inside Portal

The cave was dark but thanks to Matthew's helmet light he could see up to some 10 meters of distance. Matthew knew he had to hurry up lest the Beast heals itself using the green crystal.

Fortunately, the cave didn't have any branches which saved Matthew some time. After 5 minutes of traveling Matthew suddenly started feeling a sense of dread, fear, depression it was like a switch was turned on he staggered back. He could sense an immense amount of danger coming from deep inside the cave.

Raaaaargh!

A deafening sound came from inside the cave, it was of the mutated beast. But it was not one of triumph or excitement Matthew could feel the agony of the beast from its roar. Matthew wanted to go back but it was like a certain something was enticing him to go deeper it was like a sort of annoying thought which was easy to get rid of but yet it would crawl back into your mind again and again.

Mathew decided he would just confirm the death of beast and go back immediately, He had seen enough for the day.

After a few more minutes Matthew finally saw the narrow cave passage opening into a wide hollow cave. He could see everything clearly as there was red-blue light emitting from the ceiling of the cave. Matthew hadn't entered the cave yet but he could see the body of the beast already it was dead there was blood all over it but the way it had died was strange as if it was kneeling to someone before it was shot in the head, dying with his knees bent and back arched backward.

As Matthew entered the cave he tilted his head to look exactly where was the light coming from. And as he dreaded he could see a portal with blue edges and red light bursting from it from time to time.

He had never seen a portal that could emit light other than blue so it was strange. The only good part was the sense of dread and those negative feelings from earlier were no more.

He speculated whatever that horrible aura was, it was coming from the portal. As if a testimony to his thoughts the portal started closing and the light in the tunnel dimmed before vanishing entirely.

All that left inside the cave was the beast and the green crystal which had dimmed in its shine considerably. Matthew was bewildered as the beast's body was in great shape its arm had regenerated all its wounds disappeared except for one. A hole in its head the size of a finger.

"A grade 7 beast died in a single attack" Matthew gulped at just the thought of this. He knew no one capable of doing this. It was not about the destructiveness of the attack that made him fearful it was the fact that despite using this much force the energy balance in the portal was not disturbed in the least this meant the attacker had grasped the glimpse of the energy flow of the portal in a glimpse and used this attack right after. He knew many who were powerful than him but he was sure no one was this powerful even among species other than humans except for the two fabled races Deva and Asura, "But they exist in other realms how is this poss.."

Wah! Wah!

The sudden cry of a baby stopped his line of thoughts, he was shocked and couldn't believe his ears for a moment but that didn't stop his feet from moving towards its source 'the green crystal' Matthew as he approached closer he could see an image of a baby inside the crystal as he crouched down to take a closer look. The baby was human-looking but it didn't look like a newborn, as soon as Matthew touched the crystal, cracks started forming on it and finally, it opened. The baby started squirming and crying as soon as it got out of the crystal.

Matthew was awestruck right now, today's events were all overkill for him, as he thought how he was supposed to explain everything after leaving the portal to Silva, he felt an overwhelming sense of tiredness.

As if sensing his emotions the baby opened its crystal clear golden eyes and held Matthew's finger with its hands.

Matthew looked at it and smiled merrily, his wife Remy was sadly unable to give birth to a child. Matthew and Remy had decided to adopt one after Matthew came back from his grade 7 trip and got promoted. But looking at the cute little child in front of him and it's pitiful eyes almost on the verge of crying again he felt something in his heart. He couldn't describe the exact feeling.

"fate works in such a mysterious way doesn't it little one. Haha! Remy looks like I have a surprise for you"
