Chapter 4: Getting in trouble

During the whole day, girls could not get their eyes off him. They all wanted to approach him even if he never talked to them or anyone in particular. Some tried but were only disappointed to be greeted by a numb, cold and rigid expression. Others hold their peace knowing what to expect. Even merely staring at him gives them the shivers. Despite the coldness this beauty emits, he still went about his business as a student, studying, getting the best of grades and being the best at any physical activity he engage himself into.

During Lunch, students were seen in every corner of the school cafeteria either in pairs or groups eating and chatting amongst themselves. Sarah and her friends Linda and Kass strode to a table from the reticent Nicko eating alone not paying attention to anyone.

"Why choose here." Sarah protested to Kass.

Kass only giggled and in a low voice, "lsn't he hot?"

"What does he have that I don't have." The girls was surprised to see Kai. Kai laid his tray of food on the table while he take his seat right next to Sarah. Linda and Kass were on the opposite side of the bench facing the duo. He continued,

"Aside from be quite reserved and an inch taller, I can still compete with him in terms of looks." He crossed his hand feigning jealousy.

Sarah nudge him by the the arm while she ate. His horns were still in sight. She feels someone may take note of it even though no one could.

Coughs, "Be normal. Your horns." She whisper to him while her friends were distracted by Nicko's charm. His horn disappear and his pointed ears were back to normal.

Now seeing Nicko reminds Sarah of why she is here. Furthermore, her history is connected with his. But what should she know. Her aunt already told her that her parents died in a fatal accident while she was little. Were they all lies. She has seen the pictures of her dad because he and her aunt are siblings, but she hasn't seen any of her mum's picture or recall the slight hint of image of her face. It was strange.

The bell rang to signify the end of lunch with few minutes given to themselves to get ready for their remaining classes. Everyone is on a straight file with their trays of leftovers and empty juice boxes which they handover to the dish cleaners.

"We need to attend the same night class as Nicko." His voice was barely a whisper but it made Sarah surprised.

"Why?"Sarah looked annoyed.

"Back in your party his life was in danger, right now will be no different." He continued with a grim, "I figure out that Nicko uncle, Eli must have had a hand in it, therefore sending his youngest son. If that's the case, both you and Nicko are not save at all."

Turning her face backward, she raised her browns upward, "How? Hell is going to break loose just to come kill Nicko?"

Maybe that seem like a joke to Sarah but not to Kai, who gave her the serious face,

"Worse. Eli is hell himself. He has always been canny and ambitious. Its started when he tried finding favour in his father's eyes but instead was abandoned. His older brother still got his way and was made the heir to the underworld. You don't want to see what being he is in person, that's worse than hell breaking loose."

"You told me I was some descendant of Astraea and Nicko's protector. How do you expect me to protect him from his uncle." She angrily dropped her tray and left Kai all by himself.

Both of them had the same class but Linda and Kass was in another. After class, Kai got the chance to talk some sense into her.

"Sarah Alden." He called her while he dragged her by the hand to a corner. Sarah was beyond angry now. She tries to free her hands from Kai's but couldn't.

"Sarah!" Kai tries to caution her but she still wouldn't give up struggling to set herself free. He needs to get hold of her. His seriousness disappeared and now he wants to plead with her. "Please listen to me Sarah."

She looked at him, his ivy green eyes already glittering with plead and worry. His expression had worked on her. "But how?" She was almost at the edge of breaking down into tears. Since she woke up in the hall during her history test, it has been one scenario after another. It still seem like a movie to her.

"I know you are confused and in a dilemma but hear me out. You are not just some mere mortal. If we can help each other we can save both our arses and that of Nicko's. Not only that we can get out of here too. Back to our reality, our future"

Sarah dabbed at her eyes from pouring out more tears. She listen to Kai.

"Trust me on this, I will help you find answers concerning your past. You will get to know how the Autraea came into existence."

"Really?"

"Yea. And we will work on your powers. Well I don't know for certain how am gonna do that but I will look for answers, maybe." He trailed on, "That if and only you want to remain here till your future comes to pass or till Eli knows of your existence."

He was right. If all he said about Nicko's uncle are true, then her life is in danger. Moreover she don't want to stay in this prison of a school for another year. And finally her boss. Nicko was about to be murdered right at her birthday. She felt guilty for being selfish, turning a blind eye on the dangers hanging on him. She heaved a deep sign.

"So how do we get ourselves into sir Charles night class." Sarah asked.

"Easy. Provoking Sir Charles, getting him not to think of any further punishment than us staying in his night class."

"You need to know this, the only solution that comes to his mind is for such offenders to be sent to the principal office."

"Hmm..., maybe you are right. Then, the principal will leave the school on short notice." Kai gave Sarah smirk. "Leave that part to me, huh?"

"What do you plan on doing" Sarah asked dubiously.

"Its a secret."

𝑨𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏, 𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒕? "What about provoking Sir Charles."

"Leave that to me. He will be addressing those who part took in his first extracurricular test, right? Well,something big awaits him when he gets to class.

Sarah raised her brows. 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒏 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒅𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒅

Apprehension was already taking charge of her mind, first his plan, then Sir Charles punishment, then awaiting what dangers will befall on Nicko. 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒚 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒎, she told herself.

In the hall where all the final year senior students partook in Sir Charles history and social studies extracurricular text, Sir Charles was the first to make it to the hall. He needed to arranged the students answer scripts which had been marked and graded. They are about forty students who took part in his extracurricular text just for a better passage to college and paid jobs in the fields of social studies. Too bad only forty out of ninety students took the text. Sir Charles shook his head while he thought about it.

While opening one of the double door into the hall, something caught his sight when his gaze fell on the first object in the hall, the huge chalk board. His jaws fell. Soon, student starts trooping in. They saw him starring at the chalk board as if he has seen a ghost. Many could not help but be surprised at what had enthralled him in starring at the chalkboard. Some gapped while others laughed silently.

Sarah and Kai were the last to come in. Kai expressed an evil smirk as if he had predicted the result that already awaits. Sarah eyes became wide, her mouth making an O shape. The duo were just behind Sir Charles as they stared both at him and the board with the inscription boldly written,

'SIR CHARLES IS A BIG FAT DICK' written by 'yours truely', Kaiser Mark

'HE SHOULD GET HIS MENTALITY CHECK' written by Sarah Alden.
