26: Whispering forest.

After three days of traveling together, Rai Kan and Hi Ho parted ways with the group of carts. The grateful travelers thanked them once more, promising to tell stories of their bravery and strength. As the sun rose on the fourth day, Rai Kan and Hi Ho continued their journey, eventually arriving at the edge of the Whispering Forest.

Hi Ho,spoke, looking at the dense trees ahead.* "This is it, the Whispering Forest. I've heard it's a place of tranquility, but also of secrets."

**Rai Kan**: "Let's find a place to rest. It's been a long journey."

They approached the gates guarded by a pair of stern-looking sentries. The guards, guard Lu and guard Min,eyed Rai Kan suspiciously, their attention drawn to his imposing figure and the wild look in his eyes.

Guard Lu, raised an eyebrow.* "State your business."

**Hi Ho**: *Politely.* "We're travelers seeking rest at the inn."

**Guard Min**: *Pointing at Rai Kan.* "And what about him? He doesn't look like he's 18. Your identification, please."

Rai Kan handed over his identity slate, a look of exasperation crossing his face as he anticipated the usual skepticism. Guard Lu scrutinized the slate, then looked up at Rai Kan, shaking his head in disbelief.

**Guard Lu**: "Eighteen, huh? You look like you've seen a hundred battles already."

**Hi Ho**: *Sighing.* "He gets that a lot. But it's true. He's just 18."

Guard Min,pulled out an age crystal and held it up to Rai Kan.* "Let's see about that."

The crystal glowed faintly, confirming Rai Kan's age. The guards exchanged incredulous looks but ultimately stepped aside.

**Guard Min*: "Alright, you're clear. Welcome to Whispering Forest."

**Rai Kan, muttered under his breath.* "Every time..."

They made their way to the local inn, a quaint, rustic building nestled among the trees. The innkeeper, Madam Ling, greeted them warmly.

**Madam Ling, spoke with a welcoming smile.* "Welcome to our humble inn. You must be weary from your travels. Let me show you to your room."

**Hi Ho, nodded gratefully.* "Thank you, Madam Ling. A bit of rest is exactly what we need."

They settled into their room, the peace and quiet of the forest a stark contrast to their recent adventures. As they unpacked, Hi Ho glanced at Rai Kan, noticing a rare moment of relaxation on his friend's face.

**Hi Ho**: *Curiously.* "So, what do you think of this place?"

**Rai Kan** "It's different. Peaceful. A good place to clear minds."

**Hi Ho**: *Smiling.* "Agreed. Let's take advantage of it while we can. Who knows what's waiting for us next?"

As night fell, the forest lived up to its name. The gentle whispers of leaves rustling in the breeze lulled them into a restful sleep.

The next day, as the sun reached its zenith, Hi Ho returned to the inn with intriguing news. He found Rai Kan sitting by the window, looking out at the forest that surrounded them.

**Hi Ho**: "Rai Kan, I just heard about the Annual Hunting Festival. It's organized by the Valiant Hunter Sect. Participants go deep into the forest to hunt for valuable items—herbs, plants, or animals. The one who finds the most valuable item wins."

**Rai Kan**:" Interesting. That sounds like a challenge. I'll participate."

**Hi Ho,who was just planning to see the festival asks with concern"Are you sure? The forest isn't really my forte, and deaths among participants are common. You'll be alone out there."

**Rai Kan,nodes firmly "I'm sure. The forest calls to me. It's a place where I can truly test my skills."

**Hi Ho,sighs "Alright, but be careful. These festivals can get dangerous."

**Rai Kan, spoke with curiosity"Tell me more about the Valiant Hunter Sect. What do we know about them?"

**Hi Ho,paused to gather his thoughts.* "The Valiant Hunter Sect is one of the most respected sects in this region. They are renowned for their survival skills and their deep knowledge of the forest. The sect members are expert trackers and hunters, often tasked with gathering rare and valuable resources from places where few dare to venture."

**Rai Kan**: "Sounds like a formidable group. Any notable figures we should be aware of?"

**Hi Ho**: "The sect leader, **Master Jin**, is particularly noteworthy. He's a seasoned hunter and tracker, known for his unparalleled skills in navigating the forest. There's also **Lan Mei**, one of their top disciples. She's known for her agility and sharp instincts. Competing in an event organized by them means you'll be up against some tough competition."

**Rai Kan**: *Smiling slightly.* "Good. I wouldn't want it any other way."

As they prepared for the coming event, Rai Kan felt a surge of anticipation. The Whispering Forest, with its dense canopy and hidden dangers, beckoned to him. This would be his proving ground, a place to sharpen his instincts and test his limits.

**Hi Ho, gives Rai Kan a small pouch.* "Here, take this. It's a mix of herbs and first-aid supplies. Just in case."

**Rai Kan**: *Takes the pouch and nodes.* "Thank you, Hi Ho. I'll make sure to come back in one piece."

The day of the festival arrived, and the participants gathered at the edge of the forest. The atmosphere was charged with excitement and tension. Rai Kan stood among them, his eyes scanning the trees, ready for the challenge ahead.

**Master Jin, addressed the crowd.* "Welcome, hunters! Today, you will venture into the depths of the Whispering Forest. Remember, this is not just a test of skill, but of survival. May the best hunter win."

As the signal was given, Rai Kan took a deep breath and plunged into the forest. The Annual Hunting Festival had begun, and with it, his journey into the unknown.
