Prince's journey home was difficult. His tattered clothes stuck to his tired body as he trudged down the dusty road. He was lost in a swirl of emotions and thoughts. He was shaken by the encounter and began to question his very being. He was faced with a decision that would determine his future: whether to embrace the darkness that consumed him or to strive for goodness and redemption.
He felt the weight of society's disapproval on him. The son who was once privileged, but is now unrecognizable, felt this pressure. Even the dogs who used to wag his tail at his approach, now barked ferociously when he passed. This mirrored the disapproval surrounding him. The dogs' ferocious barking was a reminder of his path, which had led him to violence and wrongdoing.
Prince's mind wandered as he walked. It was a past filled with school and friends, and the magic of teenage relationships. He thought back to the laughs he shared with his friends, the mischievous look he exchanged with girls, and the camaraderie he had experienced in his youth. These memories pulled at his heart and beckoned him back to the person he used to be.
Prince whispered, "I miss everything," to himself as his voice was lost in the wind. "I miss innocence, joy, connection." His desires were at odds with his entitlement. He believed that because of his upbringing, he was entitled to indulgence and enjoyment.
With every step he took, his internal struggle intensified. His former life lured him in with lavish comforts and boundless wealth. He was also captivated by the thrill of being powerful. He craved the attention that once accompanied his former name and the admiration and attention that came easily to him.
A glimmer remained in the depths of his conflicted conscience. It spoke to him, reminding him of the hurt he caused, the lives that he disrupted, and the injustices he committed. It encouraged him to change and seek redemption.
Prince's indecision played out within him like a storm. He was left shaken and unsure as his thoughts fought against each other. The crossroads in front of him became wider and the decision more difficult with each passing minute. Will he give in to the darkness which had captured him, or will he find the strength to walk the narrow path to righteousness?
Prince halted as the sun began to sink below the horizon and cast long shadows over the landscape. His body was trembling from the weight of indecision as he sank to his knees. What do I do? He screamed his voice a plea for help to the vast emptiness surrounding him.
The silence engulfed him and was only broken by the gentle rustling sound of the wind in the trees. Prince had a momentary clarity in that silence. Prince's confused emotions and his waning resolve were all a result of the belief that he had to play a part--a good or bad role. He realized, however, that real change was not confined by the role he played; it came from a place within.
