22 new project

with my improvements to the cave done it was finally time to move on to one of my big projects. the project I needed to work on now was farming.

obviously I couldn't form outside right now because the seasons were changing and it would be winter soon.

I needed to make some prototypes of underground farms. my Best bets would most likely be mushrooms and root plants like potatoes.

I knew they would grow very well because of my nutrient solution however I needed to figure out the lighting problem.

I believe I should be able to use the same concept behind my light bulbs and use a large ball of tungsten embedded into a ceiling and enchanted with heating and lighting functions.

I decided to cut out a small back cave area about the size of a closet. the ground would be normal dirt from outside.

I grabbed a large ball of tungsten and engraved magic runes and circuits into it. I also made a core and began supplying manna to activate it.

now I had my prototype of what I wanted. I embedded the ball of tungsten into the ceiling. it seemed to give adequate light and heat.

I channeled manna into the ground to promote growth. the only light these plants were getting was from my ceiling grow light.

it seems that this will work because after 5 minutes of chilling the plants actually managed to grow. the shoots seem to be very healthy and strong.

now that I had the proof of concept I needed I filled back in the room and took the grow lights and seeds with me.

I had gotten the seats from nightshade and Elizabeth out exploring. they weren't anything magical they were just basic crop seeds.

going to be able to farm underground I need to open a massive area beneath my main base. which can be very challenging with my limited amount of mana.

I could make a mana battery which is just a piece of equipment that holds massive amounts of mana. they can also recharge themselves over time.

although making one is very challenging right now because their main component is gems. I haven't come across any deposits of gemstones as I expanded the cave and I probably never will as gems are found deep in the ground.

although I may be able to go with the idea I had when I made the beast ring. when I made the beast ring I used beast blood to make blood stones that look similar to gems.

with my increased mana and the mana from the beast ring I should be able to use magic crafting and alchemy to make actual blood crystals.

I decided to try this right away. I grabbed my cauldron and poured masses amounts of beast blood from my personal dimension into The cauldron.

I didn't stop till it was full, this will be my first time doing something like this. I didn't use nearly this much blood when I made the beast ring.

I started by heating the blood then compressing it with magic crafting and compressing its magic energy using alchemy.

as I compressed I also had to keep increasing the heat so that I could compress my materials even more.

this one on for about 3 hours before finally I got it to a manageable size. but it still wasn't exactly a crystal, it was still similar to a stone.

so I kept going for another few hours until finally I reached the breaking point and the blood Stone started to crystallize.

the bloodstone went from the size of a basketball to the size of a ping pong ball. once I cooled it down I pulled it from the cauldron.

the blood Crystal was a deeper shade of red than Ruby. but it was incredibly beautiful and mesmerizing to look at.

I'm sure I could use this as the core for many ideas in the future. but for now I needed to try to use it as the core of a mana battery.

mana battery isn't really the best term for what I'm making. the better term would be mana generator. it's just that I will use the Crystal as the base of an equipment.

a real mana generator would be colossal in size and generate hundreds of thousands if not millions of mana. they would power things like a city's defensive facilities.

I decided to make the blood Crystal into a necklace. I decided to use tungsten for the metal because it is very resistant to high pressure.

the first thing I did was shape the tungsten into the necklace and fit the blood Crystal into its center. then I turned the blood Crystal into the core and carved the runes and circuits into the blood Crystal and tungsten necklace.

I specifically engraved the effects of gathering and storing mana. that was all the necklace was going to do. although it will be very helpful in my next projects.

once I was done I checked it's stats.

beast blood Crystal pendant

5000 mana

(100/100) durability

it was much better than I could have hoped for. although I'm sure the durability will run out very quickly.

because even though I managed to form the blood into a crystal it is not nearly as durable as actual gems.

but it is exactly what I need right now. I'm definitely going to have to keep an eye on it's durability though. the items I've made with low magical capabilities only shatter when the durability runs out.

I'm pretty sure once this one's their ability runs out it'll explode in a massive explosion of mana. I'll have to watch out for this I can repair it as I go so long as it doesn't run out of durability before I notice.

for my next step I'm going to dig a passage underneath my cave going straight down. it will go for a few hundred feet.

once I get deep enough I'll widen it into a massive cavern and then my real work begins. but for now most of the day is over so I'll start this tomorrow.

as soon as the sun rose I fed everyone and Elizabeth and nightshade left to hunt again. I immediately started digging my tunnel. the tunnel going down was very large because one side dug down before I needed to be I'm going to shape stairs using Earth magic in a spiral going up.

before I even made it a quarter of the way my pickaxe shattered. I needed to make a new one the iron wouldn't cut it for what I was about to do.

so I grab some of the tungsten for my personal dimension and made a pickaxe from it. it's durability was actually very high, although that's the only feature it had.

with my new pickaxe I started digging once again while channeling Earth magic into the pickaxe for greater digging speed and impact.

after about 6 hours from when I started I finally managed to finish the tunnel. I was about 500 ft beneath my cave. now it's time for the hard part, I immediately started digging my giant cavern.

the floor of the cavern would be the bottom of the tunnel I had dug while the top of the cavern would be 300 ft from the bottom.

finally my beast blood crystal pendant would come into use. I didn't use it for my downward tunnel because it would be a waste and I needed all the mana I could get for I'm about to do.
