Several months passed by in a flash. The winter season had finally begun. Clouds were overcast, but it hadn't started raining just yet. A few more weeks and Gaia would wet the land with her tears. The sun was partly hidden behind the grey expanse.
It was business as usual. The Lockharts found themselves in Rhode Island this time. There were only a few things to handle. They had a nice high school to visit. Half of the funds of this school was covered by the Lockhart Foundation. Christmas was a couple months away, meaning that it was time for the next annual contract.
Sora wore a black turtleneck, a tan winter coat providing warmth. Normal jeans and shoes completed the look. It was an overall business casual style.
Alice could be seen in an oversized grey sweater. The sleeves went past her hands. Black leggings covered her legs which accented her beautiful curves. Grey boots adorned her feet, keeping her safe from potential rain. Fluffy earmuffs kept her ears warm.
It took almost two hours of driving to reach their destination. Happy Harbor High. The name was smack dab on the top of the gymnasium, which faced the main street. A pretty large campus, especially for a highschool. One could tell it wasn't lacking in funds. Classes seemed to be out of session and students could be found in every direction.
Many gazes landed on the sports car entering the parking lot. The windows were tinted, so it was hard for the students to see who was inside. It was a beautiful McLaren, the engine purring as it found a parking spot.
The door opened to reveal Sora stepping out. Gasps were heard upon seeing his features. Ignoring the looks, the sleepy man opened the passenger door. A dainty hand fell into his, and Alice was revealed.
"That guy looks as young as us...but he's fucking tall. Check out his hair! Is he a transfer student?"
"Look at that hottie! She must be his guardian, right? They don't look related."
"I don't think that's the case."
"Look at them flexing their money. Damn rich bastards."
Murmurs resounded throughout the area. Many students were waiting to get picked up, so it was particularly crowded. Sora led the way into the school with a briefcase in hand.
As they walked through the halls, even more students were able to catch a glimpse. Some of them recognized the duo. It brought the surroundings into a heated discussion.
"Holy shit. Bro, don't look yet but the Lockharts are right over there."
"What are they doing at our school?"
"Business, maybe? Look at the briefcase."
"Damn, I want a sugar mom now."
"Fuck, Sora is so hot." A girl muttered quietly.
Unfortunately, Alice heard that comment. Her gaze snapped over so fast that it seemed like her neck had broken. The girl immediately cowered back at those hollow eyes boring into her. Sora flicked the beautiful doll's forehead, causing Alice to suck in her teeth. She couldn't but pout slightly as they continued forward.
Sora gave a slight smile to the girl, causing her heart to almost go into shock. He was too handsome. Her face grew as crimson as a potato.
Upon reaching the office, the sleepy man knocked on the door. A youthful voice responded. Sora opened the door for Alice and followed her in.
A young man could be found behind the desk. He seemed to be in his twenties. The man had short brown hair and a beard that accented his blue eyes. He immediately stood up when seeing Alice.
"Hello Mr. Carr." She greeted.
"Ms. Lockhart. A pleasure to see you again." The man responded with a small bow. Only then did he look at Sora.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Sora Lockhart." They shook hands.
"Likewise, Sora. My name is Lucas Carr. I'm glad to see that Alice isn't alone anymore." He answered with a smile. The young Lockhart smiled at that.
Once the greetings were finished, they sat down to discuss business. Sora made a graceful exit. Not without promising to procure some food on his return of course. The sleepy man didn't leave the campus just yet. He wanted to check out the school!
Sora had never been to school. He would never know if it was the same in his past life, since the only memories that were carried over were the ones allowed by God. In other words, he just wanted to see what it looked like to be a student.
It was time for a quick tour of the place! Sora took his sweet time traveling around the campus. He laid eyes on the cafeteria, the gymnasium, the library, the football field, and more. The library and gym were the highlight of the tour. The library and gym were both four floors!
The young Lockhart was satisfied with what he'd seen. Granted, it wasn't a full on experience with classes and such but it was enough. Sora finally stopped at the bleachers and watched the cheerleaders practice. There were probably a few more hours until the meeting was over. He had plenty of time.
As he practically laid down on the bleachers, voices could be heard coming from the path nearby. The voices caused him to sport a happy smile. He had an idea of who they belonged to.
"Conner, do you think I'll make the cheerleading team? I'm so nervous!"
"You can."
"Hello Megan! It's just tryouts. I shouldn't be so worried."
"Mnn." He grunted in response.
"Conner, would you like to help me cook dinner when we get back?"
"No."
"Please? Pleeeease? Pretty please?"
"No."
"Pretty please with a cherry on top?"
"...Mmm."
"Yes! Hello Megan! He said yes!"
Eventually, the two came into view. The guy looked like the long lost son of Superman. Black hair and blue eyes just like his 'pops.' His body was incredibly jacked. Why did he look so grumpy though?
The other was a tan skinned woman with brown hair. Her eyes were a warm hazel color. She wore a cheerleading outfit. Pom poms were in her hands.
'If it isn't Superboy and Miss Martian. What a pleasant surprise! So they go to this school huh. That's two superboys that I've seen now.' He thought with a chuckle.
His chuckle was loud enough to get the attention of the duo. Sora couldn't help himself. The way they interacted was definitely fun. Comedic even. They tried so hard to act normal.
Conner turned to Sora and immediately frowned. It felt like he was laughing at them. Megan had a different reaction. Her eyes widened in disbelief upon seeing the young Lockhart's features. What followed was recognition. She knew who he was. Teen girls were always on social media after all.
"What's so funny?" Conner growled.
"Nothing…hahaha! I just thought of something. That's all." Sora responded.
He tried to hold in his chuckles and failed. Trying to hold in laughter only made things funnier. Conner grunted in response. He was about to keep walking, but Megan's expression made him freeze. She was staring at Sora in a daze. The grumpy guy didn't like that at all.
Conner walked up to the sleepy man with angry steps. He then grabbed Sora's collar, pulling him up. His temper was explosive. Just as the young Lockhart remembered.
"You got a problem? Your face pisses me off." He growled. Sora raised an eyebrow.
"Damn…someone's got a stick up their ass."
"Keep it up and I'll break your jaw."
"...Keep it up and I'll break your face."
Right before Megan could say anything, Sora's comment made her stifle a giggle. Breaking a face and jaw is almost the same thing! Men could be so dumb sometimes. Conner turned to see her giggling, which only made him angrier. He raised his fist, ready to rock the shit out of this pretty boy.
'If he punches me, I'll send him to the moon. I wonder how his pops will feel about that.' The sleepy man thought.
The fist hurtled down toward him. Fortunately, it stopped right before his face. There was no sound but it was obvious that Megan was speaking to Conner through telepathy. Probably screaming at him to stop.
Superboy let go of Sora's collar and stormed off, leaving Megan behind. The guy was horrible at controlling his emotions. A sigh escaped the young Lockhart's lips. He would've enjoyed testing the boy's strength. Megan gave Sora an apologetic smile.
"Sorry about that." She spoke softly.
"Sorry about what?"
"About him. His mood changes very quickly."
"Ah, it's fine. Aren't most jocks like that anyways?"
"Pftt! Haha! But he's not a jock!" She spoke in between giggles.
"Oops. I really thought he was. Aren't you gonna chase after him?" Sora gave her a wink.
"Y-Yes. Bye then." Megan's cheeks turned red before she ran off to Conner.
After his entertainment left, Sora went back into his thoughts. He should probably go get the food he promised Alice. She wanted a good pizza. With that in mind, he went into the bathroom and vanished. A New York style pizza should work.
