Bee raised her head, and under the dim light, she only saw an expressionless face.
The air became thick with an evil atmosphere, and she felt a faint ringing in her ears, as if some eerie chanting was being whispered.
Bee shook her head in fear, "I... I can't."
"Sigh, then why pretend? Turns out we're all losers here."
Randy wore a disappointed expression, picking up the golf club stained with red and white fluids, his gaze sweeping over the group seated cross-legged.
"If you don't complete the dare, someone will be punished. Now, who shall I choose this time?"
Ever since Cody was knocked down earlier, no one had reacted; they were like petrified statues, even the sweat clinging to their faces dared not fall to the ground.
Facing the juvenile-looking Randy, none dared to make a sound.
One by one, they lowered their heads to the ground, their bodies trembling uncontrollably like livestock awaiting slaughter.
"Wait."
Bee reached out to grab Randy's pant leg.
"I can..."
"Hehe, then hurry up and get started."
"Right here?"
"Relax, if anyone looks up, I'll kill them. And I'll randomly kill the person on their left too."
Randy glanced around at the group. "Only four of you left. If anyone looks up, might as well kill you all!"
His words sounded like a death knell, making everyone feel heavy. Even John, who loved to make jokes, didn't dare say a word, his dark face turned pale with fear.
"Speak clearly, or it doesn't count," Randy showed no pity.
The young girl had no experience; all she felt was endless humiliation, and her dignity shattered. Like a puppet, she kneeled on the ground, letting herself be controlled.
Time passed until she suddenly felt a wave of nausea. She covered her mouth and fled to the bathroom.
Randy calmly adjusted his belt.
"Honestly, she's got guts, much stronger than any of you sitting here."
He turned back around, picking up the golf club again.
"But! Someone still needs to be punished. But this time, someone's taken the fall for you!"
"Swish!"
"Bang!"
"No! Randy, what are you doing? I did exactly what you said!"
Hearing the commotion, Bee rushed out of the bathroom.
She hadn't even cleaned up her disheveled face, her steps weak and wobbly.
"What did I do? I'm just venting my anger."
Randy pointed to Cody, who had been struck again. His neck seemed alarmingly fragile.
"Come on, I'm not that bloodthirsty."
Randy then looked at the others.
"Come now, children, the game isn't over; we still need to continue."
Seeing that Bee was about to protest again, Randy quickly silenced her, "Shh! No bargaining. You have no room for negotiation. Quietly return to your seats, just like that, like a good little kitten."
As she approached, Randy reached out to stroke her golden hair.
"Truth or dare, and this time, no substitutions allowed."
Randy spun the wine bottle, and once again, it pointed to Max.
"Make your choice."
"Truth!"
Max shouted the word with all his strength; he had already rehearsed it dozens of times in his mind.
"Where are you from?"
"We're from Collins Town."
After saying the first sentence, Max found his throat felt much clearer, and Cody's corpse beside him no longer seemed as intimidating. He could continue speaking.
"We're all from Collins Town. No, I'm not sure about Cody. He was just serving time in the prison there."
"That's right, just keep playing the game," Randy smiled warmly, "Continue the spin, Max."
Max tentatively grabbed the wine bottle and shook it unsteadily. Though his hands trembled, the bottle finally pointed steadily at Allison next to him.
Everyone knew that Randy was manipulating everything behind the scenes.
"Truth or dare?"
Allison, who had been mentally preparing for a long time, said, "Truth."
"Why did you come to Derry?"
"We... we were running away. Bee took the witch's spellbook. The book contains the power to grant wishes. We encountered Cole, who had escaped from prison, and he killed the zombies sent by the witch. We decided to partner up and form a new organization."
So, it was just a ragtag group, possibly not even past its trial phase.
So, the core member of this group was Bee? She did seem like the big sister type, willing to put herself on the line for her followers.
"Keep spinning."
Allison casually flicked the wine bottle. In her heart, she already knew that the next chosen one would be Bee, according to the sequence.
Sure enough.
"Truth or dare?"
"Truth."
Bee was a promising one; her emotions had mostly settled down, and she was the only one brave enough to meet Randy's gaze.
Although she still looked a mess.
"What's in that book?"
"It's a forbidden tome. It details various spells and is the treasure of the legendary witch of Collins Town. I didn't think it was real either, but I could only understand a small part of it. One of the pages describes a ritual to sacrifice and ask Satan to grant a wish."
Randy didn't doubt the truth of her words. From the start, this group had acted as if they truly believed it, and there was no reason for Bee to lie.
"Good, continue the spin."
But this time, Bee didn't immediately move. She just looked at Randy, her gaze particularly resolute.
"Based on the sequence, you should be next. I hope you don't cheat."
Despite being humiliated earlier, she still dared to negotiate. Randy had to admit, he recognized Bee's tenacity. She would make a suitable assistant.
"Okay!"
Bee pointed the wine bottle at the others and released it without spinning, but the bottle still pointed at Randy as if guided by some mysterious force.
Seeing it with her own eyes, Bee was finally convinced that Randy indeed possessed some strange power.
But there were too many questions she wanted to ask, so much so that she didn't know how to start.
She blurted out the game slogan: "Truth or dare?"
"Dare."
"Then I'll ask you... what?"
Seeing Randy's smirk, Bee realized she had been tricked and instantly grew furious.
She wanted to make him crawl to her and…
But she feared provoking him into another killing spree.
"Your dare is to answer three questions!"
Bee gritted her teeth as she spoke.
"Fine, since you served me well earlier."
Randy was always lenient with his own people; that was his doctrine, showing love to his followers.
Having the right to ask three questions made Bee feel a bit more at ease. She carefully asked the first one: "Are you human or a ghost?"
Everyone else immediately perked up their ears to listen.
"Hard to classify," Randy replied, "But I can tell you, until recently, I was still human..."
Everyone was shocked, thinking that Randy had already turned into a ghost. Even Bee was puzzled; hadn't his body been warm just moments ago?
Randy continued, "My goal is to become a god."
Only then did everyone let out a sigh of relief. So, he was in some sort of superhuman category now?
