Chapter 13

Kris carefully tucked the letter away, ensuring no one could see it, and continued reading.

"Dear Kris, my love for you drives me crazy. Unfortunately, there's a mountain between us. Now, I've decided to break down that mountain and bravely rush to you. I know this is immoral and I apologize to Suzy, but you're too enchanting. It's your existence that makes me unable to part with Suzy."

"If you feel the heat, please come to the alley next to the school. There, you can see Suzy on the playground and also wildly kiss you. I will arrive shortly.

A person who loves you beyond belief."

Kris immediately closed the letter, glanced at the necklace wrapped inside it.

It had a luxurious brand logo, clearly indicating it was expensive.

So this couldn't be a joke.

Tommy, is it really you who loves me?

Although the letter didn't mention any names, the constant references to Suzy and the topic of immorality led Kris to instinctively believe it was Tommy.

She looked over at Tommy in the distance. He had already separated from Suzy, waved at Kris from afar, then turned and left.

To Kris, this seemed like an even clearer hint.

This thick-browed guy, I didn't expect him to play such tricks?

So he must have delayed Suzy earlier just to give me time to read the letter?

How thrilling.

For Kris, nothing was more satisfying than stealing her best friend's boyfriend.

Plans to bully Carrie, cheerleading tryouts, or dealing with her long-term boyfriend all faded from Kris's mind. What occupied her thoughts was Tommy's bare chest and Suzy's tearful reaction when she discovered the betrayal.

"Kris? Kris?"

"Huh? What's up, Suzy?"

Kris snapped out of her daze and quickly stuffed the letter into her shorts pocket.

Despite her efforts to hide it, her expression was still slightly flustered.

Suzy looked at her best friend with concern.

"What's wrong, Kris? You don't look well."

"Oh, it's nothing."

Kris took a deep breath. Despite her excitement, she was eager to face the upcoming scene.

"Sorry, Suzy, I won't be able to join you for the training later. I'm feeling unwell."

"Do you need me to take you to the nurse's office, Kris?"

Suzy was still very concerned about Kris's condition.

"No, no need. I just need to rest at home. You continue with the training and please inform Ms. Desjardin that I'm taking a leave."

After saying this, Kris began to pack her things.

"You seem strange, Kris. Are you still planning something against Carrie?"

Suzy frowned, questioning Kris's behavior, which seemed more excited than unwell.

"Enough, Suzy. I don't want to discuss this anymore."

Suzy's words made Kris feel more irritated, so she no longer had any psychological burden about the upcoming events.

Since you could disregard our years of friendship for an outsider, it's not entirely my fault if your boyfriend is trying to seduce me, right?

Kris hurriedly packed her items, grabbed her backpack, and turned to leave.

Suzy, left with a puzzled look, sighed in frustration.

Kris, with her backpack, rushed out of the school, ignoring anyone who greeted her along the way.

When she reached the school gate, she changed her expression.

"Could you open the gate? I'm not feeling well and my teacher told me to go home and rest."

The gatekeeper, easily persuaded, let her through, as there were no classes at this time.

He even asked kindly, "Do you need me to escort you?"

"No, thank you."

After leaving the school gate, Kris's expression changed to disdain, and then she became excited again, hurrying towards the alley next to the school.

As she jogged, she took out her phone to message Tommy.

"I'm here, have you arrived?"

Thinking about what was about to happen and the dark scene in the alley, Kris was particularly excited.

"Tommy must be wild. I want to make a call to Suzy midway, so she can hear Tommy cheating."

Kris continued into the alley, knowing that at the very end was a corner where she could see the playground.

She had once had a secret rendezvous here with her ex-boyfriend.

Soon, Tommy responded with a new message.

"?"

A simple question mark.

Kris smiled. She didn't expect Tommy to play coy, pretending not to know even at this point.

As she was about to reply, a pair of hands suddenly reached out from the side.

One hand clamped around her neck like a vice, while the other held a roll of tape, efficiently sticking it over her mouth and wrapping it around her head.

"Mmm!"

Kris screamed in terror, trying to struggle, but then she was kicked from behind, causing her to fall to the ground.

Kris landed in a pile of dry leaves.

Before she could cry out in pain, footsteps approached, and her hands were bound behind her back, then taped up again.

Even if Kris were naive, she would now realize she was trapped.

A familiar figure appeared in her line of sight, bending down to pick up her phone.

"A trap this obvious is especially effective on someone like you."

Randy crouched down, not minding showing his true face.

He was in a different class from Kris but in the same class as Kris's boyfriend.

That guy had often shown up with his girlfriend, acting arrogantly.

In fact, Kris recognized Randy's face.

Thus, her expression changed from initial terror to anger.

It seemed unbelievable that she had been played by a loser, and she continued to struggle, though if her mouth weren't taped, she would have cursed by now.

However, Randy wasn't worried. With Kris's strength, she couldn't break free from the restraints.

Moreover, the location was very secluded. Unless someone came to the end of the alley, they wouldn't even notice them, and even people on the street outside wouldn't hear any sounds from inside the alley.

Randy took Kris's phone and sent a new message to Tommy.

"Sorry Tommy, I meant to send it to Billy."

The response came quickly: "It's okay."

Then Randy put the phone away and collected the letter and necklace from Kris.

Kris continued to struggle, glaring at Randy with fiery eyes.

Randy smiled and asked, "Do you have something to say?"

Kris made muffled noises, her expression showing she wanted to ask about her family or perhaps threaten.

Randy didn't mind, and kindly propped her up against the wall.

"I can give you a chance, but first, we'll play a game."

Then, in Kris's terrified gaze, Randy took a water bottle from his bag.

"Here's the deal. I'll cover your eyes, then throw the bottle at your head. You need to use this opportunity to cut the tape on your mouth with the flying bottle so you can speak."

Randy said, laughing.
