Coming of the Apocalypse Queen

In the year 2XXX, a blue meteor from outer space landed on Earth and signaled the dawn of the apocalypse. More than 60% of the population was wiped out by a mysterious disease. Plants and animals turned into mutants. People gained powers and abilities. The world and the government collapsed and turned into a world where only the strong is respected while the weak are doomed to die. Lilian Mo didn't have a good life during the apocalypse. She was reduced to being a possession of her fiancé and became his glorified bed warmer. He kept her locked up in his villa and rarely allowed her to go out, keeping her around as his pet that he took care of. Though it was considered a luxury to be able to eat three times a day and drink clean water in the apocalypse when all the water sources are contaminated, Lilian Mo sneered at this kind of life and escaped her confinement meeting people along the way and gaining an ability on her own. She found 'friends' during her journey and fought alongside them through life and death, only to be betrayed by them. Lilian Mo died tragically when she was pushed to a group of mutant animals by her so-called 'friend' whom she treated as a sister. When it seemed like everything was going to end for her, she opened her eyes and went back to her sixteen-year-old body, two months before the apocalypse. "The heavens have not forsaken me." Lilian Mo swore to grow stronger and take revenge on those that betrayed her trust. Lucky for her, she was reborn with the knowledge of the future and given her own special dimension. Her golden cheats allowed her to sail through the apocalypse without worrying about food or water. After waking up two months before the apocalypse, Lilian Mo decided to set her eyes on the people that wronged her. ▪▪▪ A story about a girl's journey to becoming stronger while trying to survive in the apocalyptic world and facing the man of her past. ▪▪▪ Reminding my readers that this book's rating is [No One 17 And Under Allowed] which means it contains mature content not suitable for young readers. Read at your own discretion. This also includes gore, violence, abuse, and explicit content because the setting is an apocalyptic world. The MC is a heartless person who kills without hesitation but has a soft spot for the people she cares about. If this bothers you, feel free to drop the book. There are no major misunderstandings between the characters. Face slapping is reduced to a minimum and there are no exaggerated or draggy arguments. I only write happy endings ;) This is pure fiction. Don't expect it to be realistic. My third language is English--hoping that the Grammar Nazis would be gentle with me Cover photo not mine. I only edited it.

The Water From the Spring

Lu Jingren looked around the cupboards, saw various spices and canned products. He also saw a variety of tea bags and condiments. He moved away from the kitchen because he didn't seem to find any clue there so he searched around the warehouse. He almost tripped around the wires and sockets but he eventually navigated around them.

When he saw something familiar to him, Lu Jingren immediately picked it up.

It was a camera.

He opened it and could still see that it was charged with at least half of its battery. He opened the gallery to see if there were any photos.

There was one.

It was a picture of the cemetery, of two people's graveyard stones.

An eerie picture for other people but to him, Lu Jingren felt that it was something he was glad to see.

'It was a picture of Grandma and Grandpa's graveyard stone.' Lu Jingrent thought. When they died, he watched at the distance when the funeral was being held. He wasn't welcomed by people because of his origins so he could only watch from afar.

He visited once and stood still before their graves for many long hours, filled with shame and regret.

He regretted not spending more time with them. Just like that, he lost two precious people without warning. It wasn't easy to forget or cope with the loss but eventually, he moved past it much like the way he moved on when Lily died.

He caressed the photo with his hands and closed his eyes solemnly. In the end, he placed the camera down.

He walked around aimlessly for a while, trying to calm down before the sight of an electric generator stupefied him.

Of course, this would explain why there were wires around and how there was a kitchen with lots of equipment.

This thing provided electricity. He saw a few manuals lying on the ground, neatly stacked up together.

Some of them were mostly in English and at least two or three books were in Mandarin.

He saw that one of the books in English was bookmarked to a certain page. He opened it up and flipped through the pages. The material was not hard to understand but for a local who wasn't fluent in English, understanding the concepts written on the pages would be quite hard. Fortunately, he was knowledgeable when it came to fixing things and could understand a lot.

He saw a single strand of hair on the book and picked it up. Again, it was dark and thin and was also quite short. The length would be long enough to reach the shoulders of a person or at least above their shoulders depending on how long their neck was.

The obvious traces of human life in the place he was in had already caused him to be suspicious. This place was wide and could accommodate many things, from plants to animals.

But because he was the only person there at the moment, he was still wondering if this was a dream or not.

The last thing he remembered was...

"What's in the water...?"

"There is something in the water...."

Lu Jingren closed his eyes and felt a dull ache in his head. He stayed still for a few moments, trying to relax until the pain dispersed. When he opened his eyes, he remembered that he was in his room and his fiancee came in, unexpectedly helping him...?

She gave him a bottle of clear water...

No. It wasn't simply water. As a water ability user, he was quite familiar with what normal water was and the thing she handed him was nothing normal.

He remembered seeing a few bottles of water lying around and quickly went to find them. As expected, when he saw them, they were separated into two columns.

One column contained normal drinking water while the other column consisted of that unknown water.

He picked one up and inspected it. There doesn't seem to be anything magical about it. It didn't give off any smell or taste. He was about to put it back down when he thought of something.

Since there were animals here and plants. There was probably a water source somewhere to sustain them.

He ran around looking for any source of water and immediately stumbled upon it.

It was a small seep. The water must have come from underground. Was there limestone somewhere? Because the water was clearly spring water. It looked pure and clean without any impurities.

Because spring water undergoes natural filtration, it was quite pleasant to look at since it was very clear.

However, although it was small, the bottom seems to be very deep?

Lu Jingren crouched down, reaching out a hand to touch its surface. But at the next moment, he pulled away and detected danger.

However, it was already too late. The water from the spring came alive and surrounded him, pulling him forward. In less than a few seconds, he was dragged down, his entire body submerging underneath and the infinite blue coiled around him like a snake, squeezing and pushing him down, down, down...
