"That was too easy." Lu Jingren said once Lilian Mo showed up with the folder in her hands. "Are these people really from the military or only a few of them..."
Lu Jingren observed them very carefully. With his years of experience and the intel he gathered from observing these people for the past few days, he surmised that more than half of them are new recruits or volunteers.
They didn't look like the battle-hardened veterans he was used to. Only some of them did.
"That folder...might just be a trap. That Ye Yu and two others have a space ability. He could have stored the original documents on his space and swapped it with this fake one."
"We won't know unless we check it." Lilian Mo said. "Furthermore, I made sure to watch him carefully. This was the folder he was carrying throughout the entire day."
Lilian Mo opened the folder with a bit of anticipation.
Inside, they saw a folded map of City B, profiles of three different people including her, a picture of Ye Yu and a man, and another picture of Ye Yu with Nathalie Yang. Lastly, was a letter from a person known as 'General Leng' addressed to a 'Dr. Fang.'
"This person is Ye Yu while this person must be a relative..." Lu Jingren pointed out upon inspecting the picture.
"Their body language shows how close and comfortable they are with each other. Their similarities in features tell us that this person might be his sibling.... perhaps a brother though he is a bit older so it is also possible that he is his father."
When Lilian Mo heard Lu Jingren's explanation, she thought back to the base up north that was destroyed and how Nathan Yang described a certain 'Ye guy'as someone kind and good but ultimately sucked at being a leader in troubled times due to his old age.
"Ye Ling..." Lilian Mo blurted.
"This is Ye Ling, that retired Colonel who established the base up north, only to fail. He and Ye Yu are half-brothers."
"Ah.." Lu Jingren made a noise of understanding. He looked at the photo for a few seconds, remembering that he also has two half-brothers.
They quickly moved to the other picture.
"These two are close." Lilian Mo said to the picture of Nathalie Yang and Ye Yu posing in what seemed to be a graduation photo.
"But they are definitely just colleagues and have a very good working relationship. This Nathalie Yang is the very definition of all brawn and no brain while this Ye Yu guy is all brains. His body is not as fit compared to his partner." Lu Jingren commented.
"Nathalie Yang is like his twin, the past few days show that she could turn invisible and hide in plain sight but her shadow shows under the sun which is not ideal."
Lu Jingren disagreed and shook his head. "I doubt its invisibility. It is more similar to a chameleon's ability to camouflage and adapt to the environment which allows her to appear 'invisible.'"
Lilian Mo blinked. She did not notice that.
"I see.." She decided to move on to Ye Yu.
"He is a space ability user. He carries a gun and appears to know how to wield it well, however, he hasn't shown any great physical abilities."
Lu Jingren nodded, adding, "And as I said from before, his space is quite large, able accommodate a house worth of items while the other two could atleast accommodate items half the size of an average-sized room."
After exchanging queries and observations, they moved on to the map and saw the marked location of the base and some other red marks.
"What are these..?" Lilian Mo squinted her eyes.
"They might be other settlements or places where there are many mutants. See this.." Lu Jingren pointed to somewhere on the map. "This is clearly a guide to help them go through a much safer path to the base."
Lilian Mo immediately understood and saw that he has a point. She also remembered that these were areas that they passed when going to the base.
Lilian Mo saw a few other marks on the map but didn't understand what they meant.
Lu Jingren picked up the three profiles.
He then saw Lilian Mo's profile where her ID picture shows her with long hair.
