Yang Cui inched closer to Lilian Mo. "Come on, young lady. Tell us where the soldiers are. Most of the people here are starving. Aren't you upset that these people are suffering while you're able to enjoy the benefits and protection of the soldiers of our country?"
Lilian Mo wasn't dense. The middle aged woman emphasized 'our country' hoping that she could rope her in to help them. They shared the same nationality but not the same heart. Lilian Mo knew this more than anyone else.
"There are no soldiers. I came alone because I was separated from my team." Lilian Mo was still civil as she replied. She kept her cool even though their faces and words were annoying.
The hotheaded teenager froze, he asked, "What do you mean there aren't soldiers?"
Then he continued, "That's b▪llsh▪t. I don't believe a skinny chick like you came alone."
Lilian Mo looked at her 38D and the rest of her body that had filled up quite a bit due to how much time she had spent in her space the past two months before the apocalypse. What part of her was skinny?
The hotheaded teenager's mind moved quickly. In his logic, if this girl was able to come here without any injuries and while maintaining a healthy sheen and clean appearance, it was because she was part of a group of strong people. It never crossed his mind that Lilian Mo was already a one-man army alone.
Yang Cui also added, "Young girl, don't lie. As people of the same nationality, you should lend a hand to those in need especially the elderly. It's obvious that you're running an errand for your group, otherwise, why would you be filling fuels here? They are for vehicles, right? We already know that there are soldiers nearby, so why don't you bring us all out?"
Feng Ran's nails dug on her arms as she thickened her face and then smiled, choosing to speak up to try her luck again. "The lady is right, it was due to fate that we met and are all in the same situation together. Young girl, we also met back then at the mall. I am glad that you're fine. I know you have teammates with you. Why don't we leave together then look for them and the military? There will always be strength in numbers. If we are together, the chances of staying alive would be so much higher. Moreover, you'll be doing a good deed by helping all these people. "
"Young girl, you heard them. Quickly now, guide us towards the soldiers! Stop dawdling around!" A man with a beer belly said. He looked like an office worker but his whole appearance had been disheveled due to the harsh conditions of the apocalypse.
When Lilian Mo heard this, she lowered her head and waited some more until her buckets were almost filled.
Upon being ignored yet again, the faces of the people who spoke up grimaced and became nasty.
The hotheaded teenager stood up from anger. "Hey! Are you deaf?! You've got some attitude ignoring me. I am telling you, don't be so arrogant just because you have people backing you. You must have used that pretty face to earn those soldiers' favor. You're just a used shoe. When I tell you to answer me, you must respond. Otherwise, I'm not afraid to hit a girl!"
The hotheaded teenager glared viciously.
Lilian Mo yawned. She really did not know where this person got his confidence from. With the apocalypse, they must have at least realized that receiving help from others was a luxury that rarely came by. And yet this teenager was acting like an entitled person who thought he could control Lilian Mo.
Besides, they should have realized by now that they shouldn't rely on the military or the government when the leaders of the nation had been the first to run away to safety, abandoning their citizens.
Aiyoo, human beings are so despicable. It was why she preferred avoiding them. They were so afraid of the mutants that they do not even dare to take a step outside the station.
It was a different story in front of their own kind. They could openly criticize and give orders, using force and ethics to get their own way and thought that this was enough to control a person.
Lilian Mo was amused at all the pleasant-sounding excuses she heard. She usually did not bother with these kind of people since they like to preach illogical words. They just wanted to use other people to ensure their own survival.
This scene looked strangely similar to the one in her past life. Her eyes became cold. After all, she was also used and abandoned back then since she chose to be kind and saved people. But what did that get her?
Heartaches. Betrayals. Suffering. Death.
Lilian Mo has no qualms on saving people, but it was a different matter with these kind of despicable humans. Simply looking into their eyes, she knew they took her existence for granted.
In their eyes, she was only a tool for them to survive.
Lilian Mo thought about it before. She would save those who were worth saving, lend them her hand, and help them grow stronger so that they could live and survive in the apocalyptic world.
But for these people, they could forget about it. Not only would they drag her down but they were human leeches that would suck her dry until she was of no use. Never again would she experience that kind of betrayal.
When her buckets were full, she waved her hand and they disappeared into her space.
