Consequence Of Being Weak

Lilian Mo was calm at the surface but she was secretly tensed. He did not lie. She was also not stupid enough to challenge a man who isn't afraid of death.

Not right now. The safety of the others is at risk, she told herself.

After receiving no response, Nathan Yang sighed. He turned his back and started walking.

"Momo..."Mu Qingqing called out. Lilian Mo went to Lin Jiaojiao and Zhang Youji. She helped them stand up.

"Let's go....I...I will definitely protect the three of you to the best of my abilities."

They turned to Nathan Yang's disappearing figure.

They quietly followed him as he led them to the upper floors to look for his twin and the rest of the members.

They then arrived at the rooftop.

Nathan Yang saw two people who were unconscious on the ground while his twin was fighting with a man who looked to be in his mid-twenties. Pretty soon, his twin was overwhelmed because the other party was a metal ability user and easily held his twin down with metal spikes, threatening her life.

He whistled.

Mu Qingqing was shocked when he saw Mizuki Rei lying on the floor and quickly ran to him. Lilian Mo also approached them.

"Nat, you got defeated." Nathan Yang said to his twin.

Nathalie Yang glared at him unhappily. "What took you so long, Nat?"

Mu Qianmo looked between the two identical people as if they were weird.

Nathan Yang shrugged but he quickly explained the situation to his twin. Mu Qianmo who was listening to them was still in doubt so he turned to Lin Jiaojiao for a verification.

"It's true, Brother Qian. The army came for the solar generator..."

"Were you and the others hurt? How is Xiao Ji? He looks terrified." Mu Qianmo first noticed that Zhang Youji was shaking like a frightened animal who had been spooked by something and he refused to let go of Lin Jiaojiao. He also did not meet anyone's eyes, looking like he was about to cry any minute.

"That.." Lin Jiaojiao could not answer because as she recalled the encounter, she paled and was also very scared that she was temporarily mute.

For a moment, she remembered her own helplessness when she was captured. Back then, a man had also caught her off guard, then she was brought to that underground place where her nightmarish days begun.

If not for Lilian Mo, would she ever escape from there? Lin Jiaojiao hugged herself.

This was the consequence of being weak. Every minute, every second, you would end up fearing for your life and would remember all of the bad experiences you've gone through, trying to destroy you from the inside out.

Mu Qianmo who saw this was quick to pick up that something had happened to scare the two.

"It's okay. I'm here. I'll protect you both..." Mu Qianmo whispered, giving them an encouraging smile.

Lilian Mo was checking on Fu Yangzhu and Mizuki Rei's pulse but aside from the bruises on their body, they seemed to be fine and was only unconscious. Great, these two losers were knocked out. But she was relieved that they were fine and alive.

"Little girl, don't panic. They're fine. They will wake up soon." Lilian Mo comforted Mu Qingqing who was looking at Mizuki Rei with worry.

"As long as Reirei wakes up, I won't worry anymore..." She sniffed.

"Nat, get me out of here!" Nathalie Yang's shrill scream was like glass dropping in the middle of a silent classroom.

She tried to struggle away from the metal that was binding her to the floor. The U-shaped metal bars were embedded on the ground and were holding all four of her limbs down, including her torso and neck.

Nathalie Yang had never felt so utterly humiliated. This was the first time a man had bested her! It was unacceptable so she struggled very fiercely, glaring at the perpetrator.

Mu Qianmo felt the glare and was helpless.

"You were the one who attacked us first." He explained. He at first thought that they could avoid a fight because the army might be here to save people, but then again, it was late at night, around eleven. Who would be crazy enough to go out at that time to rescue survivors when it was most disadvantageous to them?

Still, he was rational. Mu Qianmo remembered that they were heading north to City B's unfinished base to look for Lin Jiaojiao's brother. In fact, the base might be finished by now since it was almost four months when the apocalypse started. Finding people would not be easy but atleast they have a lead.

Mu Qianmo thought that maybe the army was also staying at the base and so, he did not want to have any conflicts. However, he was not a soft persimmon and if the other party was keen on challenging them, he would fight.

"She's right, Nat. You never change. Why are you so impulsive?" But this was also good, Nathan Yang thought as he looked at his twin who was always very arrogant. Atleast, she would learn her lesson and not try to pick a fight with kids who were still wet behind the ears. Nathan Yang has completely forgotten that he, too had picked a fight with the very same kids he was ridiculing.

It was only when he met Lilian Mo's hard stare did his face became gloomy.
