Chapter ten

After Chen was discharged, Abigail had insisted that they should go to the cinema. Chen had tried to refuse but he could not.

He was dressed in beige pleated trousers and a silk shirt, worn open to the middle of his chest displaying his white round-neck top.

Abigail dressed in tight jeans, a short-sleeved T-shirt and sandals.

When they arrived at the cinema, they were asked to choose the movie they wanted to watch. They chose the Chronicles of Macbeth. Chen carried the popcorn while Abigail walked in his front.

The film started but Abigail was not concentrating. She kept on glancing at Chen and shifting to him.

"What is wrong?" He suddenly asked when he noticed her uneasiness.

"Kiss me," she replied.

"In this place. We are in a public," he said.

"Does it matter," she said and tiptoed on him until she lost her balance. She falls into his hard chest causing the popcorn on his hand to fall. The popcorn is in the hand of the person next to them.

"Sorry," Chen said picking up the popcorn carton.

"Chen," the Lady called.

He looked at the person but could not see the face due to the mask... The Lady removed the mask slowly from her face.

"Hazel," he gasped.

Hazel was the world's best musician. She won the Grammy award the year before and this year too.

Hazel and Chen are both childhood friends. Their dream is to become the world's best musicians. Both practiced together but Chen was unable to attend to the music concert. That was the day his grandfather died. He could not leave his blind mother alone so he ended up missing the concert.

Hazel started past him to Abigail who was beside him.

He studied the look on both faces before he said, "Girls meet each other."

"Hazel meet Abigail,"

"Abigail meet Hazel, my childhood friend."

Both women did not even hear what Chen was saying. Both were exchanging angry glances.

"Hazel, put back your mask so that people will not recognize you," Chen said.

She did as he had instructed and for the rest of the movie was watched in silence.

As soon as the movie ended Hazel pulled Chen, saying she wanted to see him.

Abigail got angry and left without him. This was really not her. She was not the one to get angry over petty things. All this feeling was what she used to feel for Lucian.

The remembrance of the name caused her throat to dry off. The man she had always loved with all her life. The man she failed to protect.

Chen returned late in the night. He met Abigail sitting beside the fireplace at the edge of the room.

"Where have you been?" She asked sounding angry.

"Hanging out with Hazel," he replies walking toward her.

"Doing what," she asked.

But instead of replying or answering, he walks towards her pinning her to the wall. His fingers massaged the sensitive skin below her hairline, and Abigail schooled herself not to respond. She should not allow him to know her weaknesses, not when she is angry with him.

The ball of his thumb traced the line of muscle from her ear to her throat, massaging the skin with faint pressure, and Abigail bit her lower Lips.

His mouth was so close she could smell the minty freshness of his toothpaste.

Her head began to swim. She'd never willingly given control over anyone, except Lucian. She shouldn't give in to Chen.

His lips softened, and his lashes lowered. His mouth took hers so suddenly she could not retreat. He held her head, preventing her from escaping.

She tried to kick him, but he moved his muscular thighs between hers, pinning her to the door.

"Stop fighting me." His voice changed, softened, and drifted into the silence as his lips took hers again, this time gently, teasing her mouth with sweet little kisses.

Her lips surrendered to his, moving eagerly as he moved. A racing sense of urgency began building inside her, blocking out all rational thought.

Her hand clutched his shirt, pulling him closer, drawing his hard body against hers. His heart pounded under the heel of her right hand slamming hard against her skin.

Slowly he pulled his head off.

"You think that was what I was doing with her. I told you Hazel was my childhood friend."
