Suspiciously

Clarke followed Mitchell into her office, and once he entered, he immediately shut the door, locked it, and closed the windows.

"I can't stand that woman," Mitchell said, removing her lab coat and hanging it back to its place. Clarke, who has been pretty much pissed about the situation, was deep in thoughts.

"We were this close," He said, making a gesture with his hands to Clark. "This close to ending the president's life, but that stupid woman decided to play the hero."

"This is not the time to lament Mitchell, now is the time to for strategies. What has happened, has happened, and indeed, we can't blame ourselves because of some silly woman who decided to come to play superhero for Matt," Mitchell snacked her two hands on the table and ruffled her hair in frustration.

"I feel like strangling her with my bare hands," He said, making a gesture of actually choking something.

"The worst part of this situation was when she asked someone to bring that injection. I swear I was going to lay my hands on them before she called Matts to get them," Clarke, who has been keeping his cool, pointed out.

"I think there is something she knows about this our plan that we don't. Check out the way she was staring at us suspiciously," Mitchell revealed to Clarke, who was stroking her hair. She usually does this act whenever she is deep in thought.

"That woman is a problem, and we need to fix our problem," Mitchell agreed with Clarke. "So how do we fix our problem then," she asked, waiting for Clarke to dish out his usual master plan.

"Since Davis believes that she is worthy of working in this hospital, then we are going to put her in serious trouble" Mitchell smirked at Clarke, understanding the nature of the plan already.

"In essence, what we do to her, is what we could have done to Matt?"

"Exactly, my dear friend, and then when she is out of the equation, then we can now shift our focus on the main target" Mitchell's smirking morphed into a huge grin.

"You are a genius, and an evil one at that" She extended her hand for a shake.

"And you are the genius's friend who will always learn to appreciate his brilliance" Clarke took up the handshake, reciprocating the large grin that Mitchell has on her face.

Meanwhile, when Petra got out of the theatre, upon seeing Lewis a few distances away from her, Petra ran into his arms with joy in her heart.

Lewis was stunned. He wasn't expecting the kind of gesture that Petra had just shown to him.

"You look happy," Lewis commented, noticing the bright smiles and how they brought out her beautiful face so much that Lewis's heart was melting.

"The president is alive and well, and that's not the good news. The real good news was that I saved his life, and because of my heroic acts, the head professor of the doctors decided to offer me a job here. That means I am fully a doctor in St. Gregory Hospital"

Lewis was surprised to hear all that she had just said. "That is amazing!" He finally found the words to speak "We should celebrate!!" He said, holding her hands to come along with her, but Petra stopped him.

"This is a hospital, and I believe as an intern that you are, the rules should be understood by you. If the doctors catch us celebrating, they won't take it likely with both of us," She let out.

Lewis poured his mouth, knowing there was truth in everything she had just said.

"But, let's head to my ward," Petra said happily and walked along with Lewis to her ward.

He watched Cynthia lying down, looking helpless. He was satisfied, seeing her in the condition that she was at the moment. Soon if she dies, it will open the door for him to step in as the next CEO.

He proceeded to check her vitals and noticed that it wasn't stable like the last time he was here. He needed to quicken her death because he was getting tired of seeing her stay this long. Without a doubt, she was a fighter, but she would not last long when he was done with her.

He proceeded to remove the lethal injection he had purchased from one of his long-time friends in Kansas. It cost him a fortune to get it, but he knew it was beneficial.

He was about to inject it into her body when the door opened, and he quickly put it back in his lab coat and pretended to be checking her vitals.

Seeing the female intern, Edna Roberts, he sighed in relief, knowing they were together on the plan. "Are you done yet?" The intern asked, looking back and forth.

"You just ruined everything!!! Now I can't do it any. Further, someone might walk in here and catch us," He said, looking frustrated.

"I am sorry," The female intern indicated

"Just let's get out of here before they come," He instructed, pushing her out of the room.

"Doctor Davis, once again, I am here to thank you for giving me this opportunity to work with the hospital; I know I should have come earlier, but I was too happy to be reasoning, and that is why I am here," Petra caught up with the doctor. She noticed he had a scowl on his face at first, but upon seeing her, they softened.

"It is no problem, Ms. Petra, we are happy that your act saved the day and, of course, the hospital from the wicked hands of the media and also the people" Petra's eyes fell on the lady on the lady inside the ward.

"My God, she is not looking good at all," She commented, and Davis, who was praying silently for her to leave, was infuriated by her.

"She will be fine for sure, she needs surgery at the moment, and all the surgeons at the moment are preoccupied with patients" Petra felt pity for her, and the urge to attend to her became irresistible.

"Can I handle the surgery?" Davis stiffened and looked at her for a moment.

"She has Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Congenital heart surgeries. Heart valve repair and replacement procedures. Device implantation [pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), etc., which may be performed by a physician who specializes in electrophysiology," He explained.

"Ms. Petra, the case you are seeing is a very complicated case and would need the help of a good Cardiothoracic surgeon,"

Petra took offense to the implied statement of having to question her capabilities.

"I can handle it, Doctor Davies. I didn't just read medicine. I graduated from Harvard, one of the best universities, and I also have a degree as a cardiothoracic surgeon, and I have handled more than nine separate heart great vessels operations successfully; there was no hitch in any. I worked at Cleveland Clinic before I resigned due to personal reasons."

Davis's eye opened in shock; he could no longer hide his frustration, as he felt like yelling at her.

"I know you have your doubts, but you have to believe me; this is my field, and I believe I can handle it wholeheartedly, and she would survive."

Seeing how she was pressurizing him, Davis had no choice but to talk to the board of directors about handing out the operation to her. Using his logic, he knew that if he refused and Cynthia died, Petra would accuse him of having to kill a patient because he had all the chance to save her.

"Alright then, you have your first operation to handle, but firstly, I need to talk to the board and also handover the operation process to you." Petra was delighted and thanked Davis.

However, something was amiss with him as she watched him walk away from the room. It felt like he wasn't happy with the decision of choosing her.

"Don't worry, miss; I will save you... just believe in God and believe in me," She stated to the unconscious woman through the window.

It was the second day already, and Petra was still in the hospital at her ward. Lewis was frequently coming up to check on her, and she could not be more grateful for having someone by her side that was caring.

While she finished her spaghetti breakfast, the door opened, and Doctor Stephen entered. She had finally learned his name when she was being introduced to all the doctors last night by Davis, and it was a fantastic moment for her.

"Greetings, Ms. Petra. How are you feeling today."

"What can I say? The joy of having to work in St. Gregory has been my primary source of healing, and I couldn't be more grateful" She moved the tray filled with food away and sat back on the bed.

"So, Doctor Davis has asked that you be shown to your office," Petra stood upright from the bed and stared at the doctor

"Really?"

"Yes, madam, and if you are ready, we can go there right now," Petra didn't waste much time. She stood up to her feet and got her band to tie up her messy hair.

"Shall we?"

"Of course," Doctor Stephen said with a smile on his face.

They stepped into the hallway, which had each doctor's office facing each other, with their name tags on it.

"Here we are" Doctor Stephen came to stand by a door, and when Petra looked up, she saw her name written boldly on it DOCTOR. PETRA HILLS (CARDIOTHORACIC SURGEON) She hated the fact that she was about to get involved in a corrupted hospital.

Stepping into the office, she was thrilled to see how enormous it looked, and the interiors were just captivating.

"I have to admit, Ms. Petra, your office looks good" This was the first time Stephen would be inside the office, seeing how big it was. He was envious of the woman.

"Anyways, this is where you would be staying from now...after you are fully okay, of course."

"I don't look sick anymore" Petra turned to face the doctor, hands on her waist.

"Well then, if you say so.....I hope you enjoy your stay here," He remarked before finally leaving her behind and going to attend to a patient.
