The Emeralds were always Anna's favorite. They have been her second family, and dinner with them always involved a bag of laughter.
Nikki's family embraced Anna like one of their own, and the only serious moment for them was when they were eating.
And as always, Nikki's mother was always so doting on Anna. She found herself being crushed in a tight hug several times before she finally sat at the table. Nikki plopped beside her. She mouthed an apology.
Leaning closer towards her friend, Nikki whispered.
"Please humor my mother, Anna. She just hasn't seen you for long."
Anna chuckled.

Anna used to be a regular at the Emeralds. Almost every Saturday, she and Nikki would stay over just like they used to when they were little and talk about all the nonsense stuff.
But since Anna hid herself, Nikki got caught up in her work, too.
