Cadence Granbury is the highly skilled and experienced personal assistant to CEO James Oliver. Their relationship has been nothing but professional since Cadence started working for him two years ago. That is, until James receives an ultimatum from his ailing grandfather: get married or get very little! Unwilling to lose out on the bulk of his inheritance, James does everything in his power to expedite the process of finding a wife. Cadence unwittingly reveals herself to be the perfect marital candidate and James won't take no for an answer. Their marriage contract proves to be quite mutually beneficial.
Cadence sighed heavily at her lap top. She'd already read through the proposal twice and was no closer to having an answer for James. She closed it in frustration, set it aside and flopped dramatically on to the bed like she used to as a teenager. Fittingly, her problem was almost adolescent in it's nature. She wasn't even certain the situation rated as a "problem" per se. Cadence had just been offered her dream job. If she was a purely rational person, she would have said yes immediately and already begun negotiating contract details. And yet she was not purely rational, so she hesitated. Why the hell was she hesitating? She knew the answer of course, but it embarrassed her to say it out loud. Cadence wanted to know how James felt about her. It was likely she would take the job regardless but she couldn't imagine accepting the role without at least knowing where they stood. How could she even begin to bring it up? The task seemed daunting which made her feel silly.
