Broken Spear of the Gods

Wyll was back in the void of swirling grey, his head throbbing and only his heart seemed to echo in this void. "Wyll of the Purple Dragoons, you have been chosen to be my champion! Arise, champion of Chaos! Forge ahead in this war and rise to the top! I expect good things to come from you." A beacon of swirling greys and radiant red pulsed off Wyll as he rose from the rubble, the pain fading as he met eyes with the man who helped him in the alley. Tied to each was a silver thread, each exchanging glances as Askalon took a bow. "I am Askalon. I hold not the title of First Forged but something else. I am the First Mistake, the oldest living Weapon. I accept you as my Wielder O Champion of Chaos!" Everyone turned to Wyll, his eyes shining brightly as he took the hand of Askalon. The Weapon's form changed shape as, with worry, his acquaintances glared at him; the only Destroyer, Chaos, had chosen a champion. [[Welcome Wielder, I am Pandemonium, Pan for short. I am an entity tailored by Chaos for you, and it is my objective to assist you in 'The Battlefield of the Gods!' Pan will be fully operational shortly]]

Blood Spilled

Ravenously the woman and her children ate, the days without food and water had left them weak and the circumstances called for unnecessary aid. Wyll watched quietly with folded arms as Fletch came running up panting. A bit of sweat was on his brow as he looked to Wyll only for him to motion over to the {Weapon} on the table, an old rusty dagger. Fletch gulped audibly as Wyll cautiously took a seat.

"I hope you excuse the rude greeting, unfortunately with the establishment of our settlement here we have been a bit on guard. My name is Wyll Amarok, a {Champion} of a god. I am also the one in charge here. After I ask a few questions ma'am, please feel free to use my personal tent to rest. Can you tell me who and what you are? Also perhaps about the dagger that you have, where you got it."

The woman stopped eating, taking a swig of water as she rather politely wiped her mouth and cleared her throat.

"Yes, I am Lady Glenda, former wife-queen of the chieftain. My late husband, Glendar was chief-king of Gobtown. A coup had taken place recently with the unexpected arrival of a different type of goblin or to be more accurate, an evolution of our species. This dagger and my children were the only things I could escape with in time to avoid our death-murder. This dagger has been with every chief of Gobtown since our founding. We apologize-sorry, we wouldn't have come here if it was not our last bastion of hope. There is a monster-creature here that gives off a frightening presence but I would rather take that chance than let that brute Orkus take my family and this dagger…"

Shakily she reaches out to the dagger, gently caressing the handle as she sniffles. Wyll nodded in understanding, understanding some about the situation as he motions to the dagger.

"Might we take a look at the dagger? We just want to confirm the kind and authenticity."

Glenda flinches some as she goes to grab the dagger before stopping herself. This flesh-human was kind to her and her kin, taking them in, feeding them and healing them. She nodded and watched carefully as Wyll reached out. Just before his hand touched the dagger his wrist was grabbed, Askalon looking down at him as he shook his head.

"I do not suggest that Wyll, that dagger is what the church classified as a {Demon Armament} long hand for {Demon Arm}."

Askalon let go of Wyll's wrist and leaned into Wyll before beginning to whisper.

"Though the name suggests otherwise, the {Weapon} is secure within the Goblin's possession. They are {Weapons} made by the creator of monsters {Chaos}, something they commissioned from the {Blacksmith}."

Askalon pulled away as Wyll nodded, sighing as his hard expression slowly shifted into a soft smile.

"Glenda, we welcome you to take refuge in our town. Please stay as long as-"

Before Wyll could finish his sentence, a whistling seemed to be getting closer when suddenly an arrow came into view. Wyll jumped from his seat as the arrow's target was the son of Glenda. He could feel that he wasn't fast enough, time coming to a crawl as Glenda jumped before the arrow. Green blood splattered across the children as Glenda choked and gasped, the arrow piercing her chest just above the heart. The children screamed as more arrows began to rain.

Fear filled Wyll as he saw the arrows, he had to protect them, it was his job. What good was a ruler if they couldn't protect their own people! He was their spear, their shield! Wyll felt the mana surge within him, seeping out of him as he stretched his hands outward as his aura flared up. His mana circuits began to shine intensely as Wyll mentally constructed a wall over the settlement as he felt his body seat with agony.

With slight twangs the arrows hit the wall, stopping in their tracks before Wyll felt he wall give way, stopping the attack as his nose began to bleed. He struggled to get a raspy breath in as his body felt as heavy as a stone. Askalon cursed as a bell rang out, people retreating to their homes as Wyll panted, eyes turning to the main gate to see a large green man riding on a dire wolf sized creature.

Orisa clutched her mother, sobbing as the woman coughed up blood and her younger brother Godric sobbed. She was dying, clutching to what remnants of life she still had as she shook and began to run cold.

"Protect-save your brother… Reclaim the clan and help Wyll… we owe him our lives…"

She coughed violently as her eyes began to roll back, Orisa looking to Wyll who was struggling to stand. Orisa felt her mother's blood run down her face as she stood up, walking to the dagger and pulling it from the table as she went to Wyll, helping him stand. She was only 14 cycles old, older than most goblin children who became adults at 6 cycles but she wouldn't fail her mother. Askalon took note of the girls eyes, flames of rebellion and a lust for vengeance. She lost her father and now mother, but Wyll was pissed. Attack his people, try to kill children in his territory! Askalon grabbed Wyll's hand, supplikenting the lost mana with his own as he changed forms.

Wyll felt a lot better but knew he wasn't in top form as he looked down at Orisa and nodded, smiling softly at her as he walked to the gate and glared at the man the large orc got off his Ambush Drake, standing a bit taller than Wyll as he glared down at Wyll.

"Hand over the girl and dagger, if you do I will spare your miserable and meek village. If you do not within the day, we will raid this place and kill everyone to get what we want. We will be back at dusk… If you do not yield, expect war."

The orc gets back on the Ambush Drake as Wyll glares, not giving an answer as he turns his back and makes his way back towards the center of camp. Damnit! Everything was going so smoothly, food had been abundant and now these idiots threaten his people!

"Everyone! I need all combatants, workers and anyone willing to fight to come out! I refuse to stand idle as these brutes spill blood within our lands! Take up arms, let that anger become resolve and raise your arms! This will not stand, the capital of our new lives, Chimera, should never have received a baptism of blood but now that it has we will make the pool they made look like a puddle in the wake of our justice!"

[[Beauty That Knows No Pain} has acknowledged your speech and conviction. You have received a Norse Coin. Many {Celestials} look to the court of {Kingdom Across the Rainbow Bridge} with discontent]]

[[Your affinity with {Kingdom Across the Rainbow Bridge} has reached a point that {Askalon} can take on a new form. New feature has been unlocked, Quick Swap: Lvl 1. {Askalon} can take on different forms so long as the form is specified as {Polearm} if the form has multiple classifications, the rest will be ignored so long as {Polearm} is one of the classifications. {Atgeir} has been obtained. This form resembles a Glaive and Bill though is most commonly misidentified as a Halberd. When in this form {Askalon} gains [Mail Piercer: Lvl 1] and [Hewing: Lvl 1]. [Mail Piercer: Lvl 1] ignores eight percent armor when attacking opponents. [Hewing: Lvl 1] increases chopping power by twenty five percent once per combo.]]

Wyll looked down at Askalon as he could feel the {Weapon} give a nod of approval. Askalon began to glow some before taking on a visage of a single bladed glaive with a sharp point meant for stabbing. Askalon's form was still that of metal from tip to pommel however the glyphs scrawling across the shaft and blade seemingly changed into that of runes foreign to Wyll. The sight gave him a headache as he shook his head and tried his best to ignore the ever changing runes.

"Now then, I have a plan, and need everyone's help to do so. Tonight will be a sight indeed."

I apologize for the unannounced hiatus! A lot has happened here recently and had pervented my working on the novel but I am back! I hope you all are enjoying and are ready for more chapters!
