Salis was a name that had belonged to the dragon in his favorite story as a kid. The dragon was a ferocious fighter and the reason he had decided to go by the new name was because of the dragon on his back. When he had seen if for the first time in the waters reflection he had realized it was the same as the dragon Salis from the story, only in black and white. After seeing it he had wanted to see if he could find any story's about the dragon, and had wondered why the dragon would look the same in this world and his last world.
—From now on he's Salis—
It was night now, this was the 4th week at his new job and his 6th week since coming to this new world. Thankfully Clara, his boss and also the owner of this place let him bord for free as long as his did both morning and night shifts at the bar, which he couldn't be happier to do. While he still wore long sleeves most of his injuries were healed, most noticeably his wrists, which had healed all the way and only some faint pink baby skin in the shape of thick bracelets were left.
He had also grown another inch and had more fat on his body, while it would be thin for a while as his body consumes the food and makes more healthy he was definitely getting better. Now instead of looking like a skinny 14 year old he looked more like a skinny 16 year old.
He had also completely let his guard down when with Clara, she was so full of joy and laughter that he couldn't help but smile when she was around.
And as the days passed he gradually faced his feelings from his past life and sorted out the ones from his new life. The memorys were sometimes overwhelming both from this life and his past one but at the same time it was like shedding a weight he didn't know he was carrying.
Now he was Salis, not Chin-hae nor the boy who was born from a prostitution who had no name. Now he's the boy who tends the bar working under Clara. He had also shown his worth when it came to fights at the bar. He had more than once showcased his smooth martial arts getting a round of applause.
This life was very comfortable for Salis and he was starting to relax, of course not completely but enough to enjoy what he didn't have in his previous life nor what 'he' had on this world. Both experiences were now his and he had slowly been learning from them, spacing out his emotions and thoughts, gradually letting things go.
When he smiled even if only a bit it would shock anyone who saw it because it was beautiful, full of quiet joy and laughter, but pain as well. It was a morbid beauty that made the ones who saw it want to hug him but just couldn't make themselves move. To many he seemed like a ice wall thicker than any they had seen. Many had come to the bar and would fool around just to see his smile.
His slender body but powerful fighting skills along with his black hair and stormy grey eyes and slowly filling in face attracted the eyes of many, making the bar quite popular. As the days passed his hair grew longer and he had to tie it up in a small downwards ponytail clearly showing off his pierced ears and obsidian studs.
Whenever someone asked his eyes would seem to laugh and he would say,
"I'll tell you how i got them if you can last longer than me in a drinking fight."
People had tried but none so far had won, soon more and more people were coming hearing the roomers of a beautiful boy who could fight and drink like no one else. As more and more money came in new things were bought and old things were replaced until the Inn looked brand new it's bar sparkling. People came at all houses to drink a buy the food and it's name, the black bear was gradually spreading.
On the night of his 1 month a group of knights entered the bar dressed as normal citizens out for a drink. It wasn't until Salis caught the color of one of the knights hair and then his face did he realize he had been caught. He stepped back trying i calm his breathing.
'They haven't caught me, they won't recognize me as long as i act normal it's fine, i've grown much taller and i've put in some fat, Salis it's fine, your ok it's ok your not going back to that cell no matter what.'
The months that 'he' had spent his the cell was still fresh inside his memory, while he wasn't in control of the body then it had still happened to the previous 'him'.
The rotting smell of flesh and waste, almost as bad as the slums the 'he' used to live in, it was sickening. Food and a warm bed hadn't made him forget that he had run away, that he had been a slave.
His eyes frosted over and his back stiffened cold sweat rolling down it as he fought to keep his head above the ocean of dark memories swimming in his head. Pink and green, pink and green pink and green pink and green, the neons lights were flashing behind his closed eyelids, telling him he was trapped, that there was no hope.
The smell of alcohol was suddenly a bit too much. His hand grabbed the bars conner, his bony fingers gripping it so hard they turned paler than they already were.
All he could see was the blood on the kitchen floor dripping between the wooden floorboards and the scattered broken glass glittering under the flicking lights. Thump-Thump-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP- something was thumping in his ears, faster faster-
'Stop! You. are. Salis. The Salis who works at a bar and has escaped from slavery. The Salis who had lived twice and is free.'
He snapped his eyes open and ignoring the concerned glances his costumers shot his way he excused himself from the bar and slowly and leisurely walked into the kitchen. Then past Clara who was cooking and outside, his face deathly pale but Unnaturally relaxed. Then all of a sudden he stumbled to the wall propping himself up and began vomiting. It smelled just as bad as it did inside the cells, but this time he was no longer shackled.
'Salis. Calm the fuck down. Think, think Salis, who said that they were bad? You are here in a new world Salis, you are not on earth nor are you back at the slums. They may just be good people like Clara or the people who like to make jokes and drink at the bar. Salis calm down, there is good and bad. Do not judge by fear.'
Now Clara was standing at the door way when he turned around. He froze and didn't move, his stormy grey eyes were empty and desolate, indifferent. This scared Clara, even when she had first seen him he did not look like this. His eyes cleared and his shoulders relaxed, "Ah...Clara...i'm sorry i'll go back to the bar now, i recalled something that upset my stomach."
His face was warm, his eyes gentle, like the boy from before was a totally different person. Clara blinked and released the tension from her body that had unknowingly built up while he had been looking at her. She had felt like she was in front of some invisible force that was forcing her to freeze, to submit to the other, it was something that you heard of often in story's about dragons or rulers, people who belonged to the top of the food chain.
"It's alright son, i know everyones got there own baggage, remember to ask me if you need anything."
She smiled before heading back into the kitchen.
He had shed a lot of his shackles both from this world and his past, both the worlds shaping his personality to how it was now. Although these feelings only served to chain down the beast inside him. He had been putting these chains on patiently, this was a new world where he had no need to fight, he owned nothing that others could want. But now it seemed trouble had found him. It seemed like he would be headed back to the battle field much sooner than he expected.
