Incorrect Measurements

Dr. Helen kept typing away at the terminal interface as she expertly manipulated it. The Data from the scanners were really fuzzy and filled with noise. With so much noise in the way, it was almost useless. They needed to clear it up before it could be used.

Dr. Helen knew just how to increase the clarity of the data without compromising the quality. As she quickly built a quick model according to the specifications of the general area and the interference level that could be used to process the rest of the data.

As she finished up with this she turned to the operator behind her as she said.

"I'm transferring it to you. Plug it in and it should hopefully clear up the data."

And clear up it did. The Data quality increased by at least an order of magnitude. Which could then be processed further to get an idea about the monolith.

The Monolith still hadn't done anything out of the ordinary. It stayed in it's place an kept it's morphing action going on. What was it doing exactly? No one really knew for sure. But at least this much was confirmed that it was doing something that took an insane amount of power. The source of energy still remained a mystery. But what it was doing was more important than finding out the source of the energy.

As the data kept coming in, The researchers got a better understanding of the cube itself. It wasn't a single structure. Rather made out of countless tiny structures that were moving around all the time. What was inside of the monolith or the tiny microscopic structures still remained a mystery.

The Monolith itself was completely impenetrable. With so much interference in the way. It was impossible for them to scan and get a better understanding of it. Maybe the shore's scanner could do something here, but She couldn't get close enough to employ the scanner. The Heavy gravity of the Planet would tear the whole ship apart.

All modern ships were built to be kept in space. Rarely were they meant to be landed on a planet of any scale or size. Most of the repairs and maintenance of the ships were done in Space Docks that generally orbited a moon.

So for the researchers on the site, there was nothing they could employ to scan the monolith and get a better understanding of it.

And this frustrated Dr. Helen. She was sure this was the most important part of the whole planet. Her gut told her that whatever this Cube was doing was even more important than the Trees. But they couldn't figure out what.

"What exactly does take so much energy to do? What are you doing?" She asked the question as she stared at the Monolith. She had gotten frustrated for the lack of progress and decided to get out of the vehicle.

She was staring at the monolith with a curious gaze. There was something mystical about it. There was something unexplainable to it. But she couldn't really put a finger on it.

The more she looked at it, the more she felt drawn to it. The more it felt like the Monolith was calling to her.

Suddenly, her comm beeped. It brought her out of the trance. It was from the Shore. Dr. Kbom wanted to know the progress on the analysis of the monolith.

A Projection of Dr. Kbom poped up, Kita was standing behind him. Her eyes grew softer as she saw him.

"Hello Dr. Helen, Please send me the data gathered on the monolith. I understand that this is quite an interesting construct?" Dr. Kbom started.

"Yes, Although we haven't managed to find too much about the Monolith. I'm sending you our gathered data.", She said as she pressed a few buttons on her Comm. All the data was sent back to the shore. Dr. Kbom opened up the data on his end projected it.

He quickly thought of something and the fiddled with the projection.

"Hmm, this is a bit wrong. It needs to be like this.", He mumbled under his breath as he manipulated the Data. He was changing how the data was plotted.

Both Helen and Kita was quite impressed with it. It took Helen quite a bit to figure out How to correctly process the data. But Dr. Kbom took a single look at it. And he was already cleaning things up! The Efficiency was scary.

"Good, There you go." Dr. Said as he pressed a button. And all the data in the projection rearranged itself in a more concise, practical and understandable way.

"Now it should be much more clear." Dr. Kbom said. As the 3 of them inspected the data now. It left them speechless.

"How…. How is this possible? We've been measuring it incorrectly all this time?", Dr. Helen gasped as she focused on the projection.

"Oh, no. There was a slight miscalculation. It doesn't change the energy levels that much." Dr. Kbom corrected her.

Dr. Kbom's version of the Plotted data showed that the Energy flowing through the Energy lines was actually higher than expected. There was a slight problem in the previous calculation. According to the data now. It was a bit higher than expected.

All the energy in the Lines went to the Monolith. But there wasn't any obvious connection between the Lines and the Monolith. The Monolith was floating above the surface. So it was a bit of a brain twister, How such levels of energy were being transferred over the air without any kinds of conduits. That was a big question.

"We still can't get any good data about the monolith itself though. That's a bit sad.", Dr. Kbom expressed his disappointment.

"We've inspected everything. The Interference levels in the area are just too much. The JSIT can't even get close.", Dr. Helen shared similar frustration.

"I think it's time to wrap up the mission. If we can't get any data on the monolith then let's leave it for now. We can always analyze it in the future.", Dr. Kbom said.

It was finally the time to get off this planet.
