Anti-Gravity Backpacks

After making sure that she wouldn't go running head first into the dangerous planets, He started asking for the details of preparation for the mission.

"How's the preparations coming along? You need anything?"

"No, I just need your analyzer and I'm all set. But there's much to be done. We need to prepare both the Shuttles and the Escort mechs for the planetary conditions. That means making them resistant towards the planetary environment. Although it'll be handled by Maintenance crew, I still need to oversee the operation to make sure nothing goes wrong. We can't afford to slip right now.", Helen said with a serious expression.

They truly couldn't mess anything up now. A lot was the line. This was possibly a discovery of a brand new alien civilization that was way more powerful than Humans. Everything needed to go according to the plan.

"Have you taken into account the heavy gravity of the 4 planets? You need to prepare the Heavy gravity backpacks with Redundant generators. The power draw on those things will be too much for the built-in power cells. You need to supply it with additional power."

"Nothing we've never done before. I've already called them to prep the Heavy gravity backpacks. They're preparing it as we speak."

The Heavy gravity Backpacks were basically anti-gravity modules that negated the extra gravity of the surrounding space. It balanced it out so that the gravity experienced by the user or the object was 1G. The same as earth's gravity.

It was really important as humans were born on a relatively small planet and evolved to fit in the gravity of that planet. When on a heavy gravity planet. It would be hard for them to even move a finger. Specially when the gravity of the 4 planets were Almost 10 times the gravity of the old earth!

Dr. Kita was the first person to devise a way to shrink down the huge gravity projectors and turn them into a portable package. The Anti-Gravity backpacks were born out of his accomplishments.

Anti-gravity backpacks quickly became popular as they let people move around alien planets with heavy gravity with ease. The same effect also needed to be applied to the machines. Although the shuttle produced a localized gravity field that would provide the perfect amount, The shuttle itself also needed to be enclosed in a special gravity well that'd make sure it could operate as normal on different planets. Most shuttles came built-in with such modules.

Same went for the mechs. They were designed with this in mind as there was a slot for a backpack on their backs where an Heavy Gravity backpack designed for mechs could be slotted. And it'd let the mechs operate as normal in heavy gravity situations.

"How power hungry do you expect the backpack modules to be? I know that the power consumption is directly proportional to the amount of gravity negated. Didn't you say that these 3rd generation modules were better in that regard?" Helen asked Kita.

"Yes, You can expect an reduction of 27% power consumption when compared to 2nd generation modules. And 80% Reduction when compared to 1st generation ones!", Kita said proudly. This was his life's work. For as long as he remembers, Humanity always faced great problems when operating on alien planets that had more or less gravity than what humanity was used to. Once he was picked up by Dr. Kbom, he set out to solve this one problem that was faced by every part of humanity.

"80%! That's really good! The 1st generation ones weren't really usable. But with this much power reduction. It can be used in way more scenarios.", Helen gasped.

"I hope to reduce it even further. To the point that it uses barely a trickle of the power that it consumes right now. Only after that would we be able to call it good enough.", Kita said with confidence.

"For now, hope these work just as intended. Although I don't doubt their effectiveness, But it only takes a single anomaly to disable our machines. Hope it doesn't happen again.", Helen said with worry in her voice.

"Well, Depending on our initial scans. There shouldn't be any exotics that's overly energetic present on the planet. Although there are some hot-spots for energy spikes, Anomalies should probably be at a minimum. But there's always a chance of one happening.", Kita stated after thinking for a while. He recalled that the planets didn't seem anything special. But Nothing can truly be said from such far away. They'll only know after they've made ground fall.

"Let's hope for the worst, Things can only get better from there on.", Helen said.

"True."

Soon a bunch of high volume loaders entered into the Hanger bay from one of the freight elevators. They bought the Mech grade Gravity Backpacks. For Security and logistical reasons, The Gravity Backpacks were stored separately from the mechs. This way it was easier to maintain the backpacks and also easy for the mechs to move around while aboard the Ship.

After the Loaders made their way towards the the Mech Squads which were standing in Squads. The Loaders released the backpacks. At the order of the Commander of the escort group. Each of the mech went towards the loaders and picked up their Backpacks and slotted them onto their backs. Because the mechs were designed with the backpacks in mind and the dimensions were all standardized, They slotted in perfectly without any problems. After making sure everything went as planned the mechs went on stand-by for further instructions. At this point they were basically ready for deployment on the surface of the 4 planets.

"I'll head back first. I need to wrap up my on-going tasks before this mission starts. It seems that it'll still take Dr. Kbom some time before he get's the permissions."

"I'll head back after I'm done with this. You go ahead."

"Okay, Love you"

"Love you too."

Kita head back to his lab as he finished up his work in the Hanger bays. With this he could finish up the analysis of the data before turning in for the day.

Hello again, was really sick today, so had to delay the chapter a bit as it needed some corrections. Thanks for understanding. As always, leave your thoughts in the paragraph or chapter comments, I'll read em all. Ngl, no one has commented yet on the full novel so that has to be some kinda record huh. Anyway, Thanks for reading <3
