"Master..." Butler Luther saw Alexandro stepping out of the room, he walked forward and bowed deeply. Alexandro stood by the door with his arms folded across his chest. He raised a brow and then peeked into the room but she had not returned from the bathroom... He just wanted to have one last glimpse of her.
"To the study," he instructed.
"Yes," Butler Luther bowed and walked ahead in front of the man. They reached a door that was pushed open respectfully by the butler. Alexander walked in first, he took his seat and picked a fountain pen that was on the desk before him.
"Speak!" He ordered while staring at the Butler.
"Master, the spy that was sent brought back some news for you," the butler lowered his head slightly as he reported.
"Mm," Alexandro twirled the pen between his fingers, the black-colored pen contrasted with his white and long fingers giving it a unique taste.
Taking his actions as a sign that he could speak, the Butler opened his mouth to give further reports.
"According to the spy, ever since the Second and Third Princes returned, the Queen had become more relaxed and had stopped sending people to fish out information about your highness. As it is now, it seems she no longer cares if you step out of the castle or not. The Queen is almost certain that your highness will not be able to return home in fear of the curse and your unstable health, she threw bait to the King so that he would find a reason to give your position to the second prince." Butler Luther explained.
Alexandro paused after hearing this and after a while, he broke into a smile. "Interesting..." he muttered in a soft voice that was pleasing to the ear but could also bear ill intent.
"Master, you have known since you were young that everything that happened to you was the deeds of the Queen, why have you been so silent and made her believe that you had no idea that she is the source of the curse. With the healer's death and the uncertainties that surround the awakening of a new healer, we almost cannot do anything to sustain your deteriorating soul any further. Why isn't your highness doing anything to the Queen and her children, it's been years, your highness! Even if your highness will... died, shouldn't you fight back?" Butler Luther uttered solemnly, his wrinkled eyes twitched with bitterness and a pained expression that was sided with a tinge of anger.
"Luther... isn't it fun? To play in this staged game? You know this better than I do... It hurts more, to kill with a blunt knife—" Alexandro uttered, he paused for a split second before he chuckled deeply causing the butler to shiver. Although the middle-aged butler had served the man for many years, he could not help but to fear the man when necessary.
"Yes master, I understand" Butler Luther nodded.
"Good. Anything else?" Alexandro queried with an arched brow.
"Yes. This is about madam," The butler voiced. Hearing this, Alexandro sat up immediately and his eyes were filled with curiosity.
"About Madam, the people were able to find out that she was taken away from the orphanage with her twin when she was five—"
"She had a twin?" Alexandro interrupted the Butler, he sounded more amused than surprised.
"Yes, Madam has a twin sister..." Butler Luther could not help but smile at his master's reaction. How could a man marry a woman he knew nothing about? Perhaps, his master was just one of a kind. Then as though he remembered something, his smile was stopped abruptly.
"However... there is an issue with the twins. From the investigations, Madam and her twin were sent to the orphanage when they were two years old after their parents died in a fire outbreak that happened in the countryside house where they lived. The twins were luckily rescued from the fire by a neighbor but because no one knew the identity of the couple even after they lived in the village for more than five years, no one was willing to take the twins in and also, because people in the village were extremely poor.
The twins were then taken to an orphanage where they began their lives. The twins were identical, they share basically everything and there was no difference, even the color of their eyes was alike. They even dressed the same way so that no one could tell them apart. While in the orphanage, the twins were always punished for one offense or the other. One of them would commit a crime but no one would confess to the crime making their caregivers frustrated and would result in punishing both twins. Throughout their stay in the orphanage, the caregivers don't like the twins and they were not allowed to associate with other children.
It was actually one of the twins who did the bad things but no one knew which twin it was. Most times, the twins even shared the same facial expressions when they were asked a question. When they were five years, a couple came to the village in search of the twins but they were directed to the orphanage. The couple claimed to be the relative of the twins and because the orphanage was frustrated by the destructive tendencies of one of the twins, the twins were given away to the 'relative' without any investigations.
That was how Madam came to live with her aunt and uncle but according to our discoveries again, they never treated Madam well, they treated the other twin like she was a princess why Madam was pushed aside. I am certain that they had wanted to push madam out of their home a long time ago but they never found the opportunity. If not for the pieces of evidence we gathered, we would have also been confused by the identical twins. I almost suspected Madam when I got the report of the investigations. The way that the family treated that other twin is as though they want something from her but, what could it be?
Master, I was also wondering... Why did you choose Madam? You never wanted any contact with any woman until now... all these years, you have hidden so well. But you suddenly picked a lady and decided to get married to her, you don't even know her..."
Alexandro had a smile hanging on the corner of his lips as he heard all that the butler spoke, he played with the black fountain pen between his fingers and his orbs twinkled with a strange glow.
"Luther... you are wrong" he muttered and paused. He tapped the pen against the desk and his eyes grew warm. His eye seems as though memories bloomed in them.
"A little girl once said to me... even the stars could cry..." Alexandro uttered seemly lost.
Beautiful people! Lena's identical twin? Lena's relatives... what do you think and what are your thoughts about Alexandro? I want to hear them all! <3
