Chapter 28

KIAN POV

"Alex."

The dream is the most realistic I've had lately. Everything, every tiny detail, is exactly as it should be; the way her hair falls around her face, the softness of her eyes, and the curve of her lips.

This is going to make waking up hurt so much harder.

She turns towards me, smiling and holding her hand out.

"Kian, come on, we'll be late," she calls, laughing.

"It doesn’t matter," I say, catching her and wrapping my arms around her small frame. "We could always stay home."

I miss her warmth as she wriggles free.

"Don't give me that look," she snaps, but I can tell her tone is playful.

"You look beautiful."

Her dress is a deep blue with diamantes placed to show it off as she moves. The top isn't too deeply cut—she knows I'd never have let her leave the house if it were—and hugs her frame until it reaches her waist, where it flows to the ground. The fabric from the top joins the bottom seamlessly and flies out to her sides whenever she spins.
